FFS. It's unimportant to
you. The world isn't organised for your benefit. When gay rights are under threat and in some places marching backwards, it matters.
In a perfect world, I agree, it shouldn't matter. But as GT's resident Chicken Little you might agree that the world isn't bloody perfect.

Why to be proud of being gay, escapes me. It's as if I were proud to have eyes that need glasses, or somebody else being proud to have blond hair. "Gay pride" is no doubt one of the most stupid and pointless slogans I have ever heard.

Oh for God's sake. Your eyesight or hair colour aren't major impediments to your pursuit of happiness or your rights as a human, they don't deny you the rights and benefits of the perfectly-sighted or black-haired, so either stop making the comparison or make it somewhere I don't have to stomach it. I could suggest somewhere.
Maybe he should have kept it quiet to ensure that any young or impressionable member of what is still a discriminated-against class could go without the benefit of knowing the head of the world's most valuable company is just like them, suffered the same they have, and succeeded in life.
Gay pride exists because gay shame exists.
The shame should not exist, of course. Stupid arguments like this one aren't exactly hurting, but they're definitely not helping.

Possibly it was just a calculated publicity coup to bring the apple logo back into the news.

Yeah, Apple need the advertising. Strewth.

And you, Mr. Cook - better be proud of for example your job achievements or business success, if you feel like it. Because different to your skin colour or sexual orientation, actively achieving something is something that you indeed sometimes can be proud of and claim credit for.

You think he's
not proud of those things? Being gay affects your life and who you are as a person. THe environment of where you grow up affects this massively. You can end up normal, a little more guarded, or hung by your neck until dead.

But no athlete ever has won a gold medal for having this or that shoe size or having green eyes - but for having trained hard and then winning the final competition. That's what the applause rewarded - his shoe size was not asked for, never.

This argument is beyond stupid. Congratulations on missing the point entirely.
