I have a quad core 2.4, do you know of anyway to force the cpu to use one core only, or should I say force the cores to combine their efforts so sh3 is making the most of the cpu ? I'm sure I've read somewhere this is possible, but I'm buggered if I can remember where

Best regards.

From what I understand (and I am a novice) multicore processors require a different programing language; The C++ used by most apparently doesn't work with the multicores, or at least doesn't work well.

Most, if not almost all, current and past software programs don't, and cannot utilize the multicore.
I have a duo core and hope to be able to utilize the new programs that support it.
The same is true for the 64 bit programs, although the programming language currently used can support this OK.

lakeskipper; I am sorry not to have welcomed you aboard. Welcome Aboard, Matey
Addendum: I use AlacrityPC to shut off all the mess that runs in the background. Google it and check it out.
