I was at 350 ft. in my Sargo class boat and the 600' gauge was reading around 450'. So, the gauge is asthetic, but it won't show you the right depth.. at least not in a Sargo.

Nice mod! Is it possible to change the dials in the task bar, so that we can order to dive deeper than 450 feet? Or is there a allready a mod which supports this option?

The only way i know is to open the cfg file of your submarine with notepad and change the value at the MaxDept with the desired one. Then in game press D (dive) and the sub will go at the depth indicated in the cfg file. By default SH4 has 100 meters, which is 325ft, but you can set a different number, i.e 200 meters which is 650ft.

Maybe around here there is a mod that changes the dial in the command bar, but if such moe really exists I admit I've never seen it before..

This is the easiest thing you can do.

Of course it wont do anything in a sargo, because i havent touched the sargo! See post title, it says GATO INTERIOR :p

Anyway, the reason stepped into the forums is to say that ive been buring alot of midnight oil on the gato interior.

With the exception of 4 small little dials who's controller i can't find, I HAVE ALL THE DIALS WORKING IN THE GATO, CONNNING TOWER, AND CONTROL ROOM!

This includes:
- all three gyrocompasses,
- forward battery
- after battery
- total battery
- all engine RPM gauges (which were WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY off i might add)
- fuel gauges
- trim tanks

etc etc.

Not done yet, still fine tunning things.

BTW, i just changed it so that none of the textures im altering for the gato, will show up in any other boat. So you wont see a 600 ft texture in a sargo anymore.

Ok, Ducimus. Let us know when the next version is ready for download. It will be nice havinggauges that actually tell you something useful.

The Sargo dial wasn't a big deal. I just didn't realize that each boat class had its own cfg file for the gauges.

That is S-O-O-O-O Kool!!! Sure will be nicer than a bunch of dummy guages. Thanks so much!

A personal request: How bout making the Clinometer (or Inclinometer) real. Its the Bubble Level looking thingie that shows 'Up/Down Bubble' to the planesmen. In the original 'Silent Service' for the Amiga Computer, there was one that actually worked.

I have no idea how to do this, but I would imagine it would involve considerable work on the interior textures. Is the Clinometer a seperate entity, or just part of the 'background'?

Thanks for your consideration.

It looks almost like a background image, but I'm sure that it's a 3D model just like everything else in the room. The bubble itself would have to be its own model that followed the path of the inclinometer... which is stuff out of my league.

I imagine there would have to be a sub-program of sorts so the bubble would move in reaction to diving/surfacing. Actually, the bubble remains still while the rest of the interior 'tilts'. That might be quite a feat in and of itself.

Like we both said: 'Way beyond my capabilities'. Still, I remember the clinometer actually working in 'Silent Service', so it can be done.
