Default [REL] what color is your torpedo?

i got to wondering about historic torpedo appearance and found many images of the various USN types, but none from the WWII time period showed the sort of coloration that is currently used in the game's torpedo information display (or did someone mod the torps to those colors? 'can't remember what stock looked like... also, i'd except from this the Mk. 16). so i decided to redo the US_torpedoes512 bitmap to more accruately [?] reflect what seems to have been the actual 'coloration' of the torpedos in use for this era. i left the Mk. 16 alone in the original bmp i have on my hd (whether it's someone else's mod work or stock), but adjusted all the others. there was certainly some conjecture in the scheme i've opted for, so if anyone has better information then i'm all ears!

additionaly, this is the dds from 1.4, so if you're running 1.5 (which i'm not yet) then you'll have to cut&paste these into the expanded 1.5 file.

as always, make sure to backup your original.

cheers,
hc

Im grabbing it, thanks, looks sweet.

You got 1.5 ?

I know dem textures for torps in 1.4 that you see in water are
Torpedo14.dds and Torpedo14_01.dds for MK14 etc in "tex" folders
but does anyone have idea what file(s) the german torps use in 1.5?

This is what the german looks like:

and I'd like to skin that pig fo to something like:

or this:

or maybe like this:

and that blueish:

Did some heavy colors tho, but was just testing stuff...

I think Ducimus did some nice touches in TMO for torp colors.
And those files shoulda work in 1.4 just allrite.

Would be nice if you would specify where in the game folder to place this file since it isnt JSGME friendly. If it was JSGME friendly you would not have to worry about backing it up either as it makes a back up for you.

Yeah...and then you want them, just like I do.

I loved the Zaunkönigs, in SH3.
Did you ever follow such a fish on cam, along it's searching path?
When target comes closer, you can see it jinking from L to R, constantly adjusting course.
If it misses, and zipps past the stern, it makes a fast narrow turn, and comes in from the other side!....and it won't miss, this time.

I admit confusion...How do I install this mod (or the new ordnance mod) in 1.4?

I can't find the files to be replaced.

hey Penta

in your SH4 install folder, just drop my replacement bitmap into data/menu/gui/layout

make sure to backup you original file, just in case!

alternatively, you could install the RFB package as it uses this mod.

cheers
