What about later in the war, 1944, I assume it is best to use an G7e, but is the running time suitable for those fast moving destroyers and passenger liners?

For the small ones (c2 and smaller) a magnetic about 2 meters under the keel usually does the trick When I was using impacts, it usually took 2 eels for a C2..

Good Luck..

I guess you misunderstood which torpedo I was referring to. The G7e is the electric which has a fixed speed of 30 kts, maximum range is supposed to be 7,500 m

And the G7es - Acoustic Guidance with a speed of only 20 kts.

Are these fast enough to knock out a Flower Corvette and all the other fast moving DD or DDE which don't really slow down too much.

I was actually answering YOBERTS question since he started the thread.. I don't know how or if the TDC takes into account the type of fish you have loaded.. The 10 kt. difference in the speed should not be a factor unless you're shooting from astern and then it would never catch up..

I dident see it mentioned or missed it. Are you running a mod ?

If your running the Grey Wolves mod the damage model was modified. Some belive a little too much.

However it is still better than the "vanilla" version wherein DD's are literally blown out of the water with a single torp.

I understand this is going to be modified further in the upcoming new release.

Well, lets go back to the original question.....'small merchant'....GW for some reason made this steamer hard to sink...apparently this will be corrected in GWX. I have taken up to 4 torps to sink this stupid little steamer. I go around it now until the fix is in with GWX. Everyone else is correct though. You have to hit more than one spot to flood the hull. If you hit the same spot over and over....no effect as that compartment is flooding.

Ge7e's (T9) arn't bad the only snag they always go for noise(what else from an acoustic torp) there great on escorts doing 12-19knts if there doing 20+ you will be lucky there also ok for ships running as slow as 4 knts but for any reason a ship reduces it's speed to 3 or less knots they'll miss. the other thing I think it costs something like 1000 renown for them.(got them loaded in all tubes from late 43 onwards)

Too bad they don't heel over like the real thing, from loss of stability from heavy listing.
Barham did for mre in the single mission, 4 eels evenly spaced along the hull, she listed to stbd and eventually casized floating keel up for some time.
