Group Offers Scholarships To Only White Males

LEAGUE CITY, Texas -- A nonprofit group is awarding scholarships to high school students, but only white males qualify.Ryan Ward, 18, received a $500 check from the Former Majority Association for Equality on Monday. He will attend the University of Texas in the fall and said he found the application for the scholarship online.

"I believe the scholarships are out for those who create them," Ward said.

"I'm just grateful for whatever I receive."Ward is the sixth student to receive one of the ethnically based scholarships from the FMAFE, which was organized by students at Texas State University.

"What we just did today is provide the first ethnically based scholarship specifically for Caucasian males in the history of the country,"

FMAFE president Colby Bohannan said.Similar scholarships have been offered by college Republican groups at Boston University, Williams and the University of Missouri.Bohannan said the group is not politically aligned and does not care about affirmative action."There are not enough scholarships out there to go around for everybody,"

Bohannan said. "So if there are millions of scholarships out there, we're still not reaching every single family."The group planned to hold its ceremony Monday on the steps of Clear Creek High School, but it ended up moving it to the sidewalk when the principal found out what was happening.The group said it has raised about $20,000 and plans to give out more scholarships next year.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with this.

There better not be protests when we have scholarships for pretty much every other group. Fair is fair.

I do see something wrong with it. It's the same thing that's wrong with any ethnically based scholarship, though, and I can't say this is any better or worse than any of those. It's their right to award scholarships based on the criteria they choose, so long as they have no government involvement.

My friend got rejected from MIT because they hadn't met their race quota - at least thats what he told me.

I have no problem with this. Now I want to see Miss White America. I like my girls European. Not a problem.

actually, this is one of the first things I've seen Texas do that i like. as a college student now...and one who is a "wasp" or a White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, Male, I am glad to see a scholarship just for us. We are a race aren't we? there's tons of scholarships for the "minorities" and they are given special treatment in college especially when it comes to Admissions and scholarships. I was wait listed for Michigan State University (who ironically doesn't have my major) while every Woman or Minority member in my class magically got in. They all said my essay must have been bad, ignoring the fact that 9/10 of the males who applied there in my school were rejected. I'll also add the fact that I was still rejected even though I would have been a 3rd generation spartan with 9 people in my family attending MSU. I even had a person of Latino decent say that all he would have to do was drop an App into MSU and he would just about be accepted on the spot. What I was told at the time, and I remember now was that in 2009 in the height of the great recession MSU was being very selective, and only taking the cream of the crop if you weren't Female or some kind of a minority.

so yes, I feel the shoe is on the other foot in college, and that they have spent so much time on the noble task (that's not sarcasm BTW) of helping minorities that people like me have slipped through the cracks when it comes to scholarships and admissions.

I dont think that there is anything wrong with this at all there are tons of other interest groups giving out scholarships to various races and ethnic groups.

Your buddy is full of it you see they can not tell you that you did not get hired for a job or not accepted to a school for racial reasons even if that reason was AA in fact I don't think they give you any reason besides "you did" or "did get accepted".

Also MIT would never reject anyone if they had good enough scores we are talking about one of the most prestigious schools in the US the world for that matter they are seeking people with potential.You friend probably did not have good enough scores to get in or he did not write his entry essays and what not very well he got axed for some failing on his own part.

Have you been to Europe? Because "European" women is very vast you have Scandinavian women,English women,German women,Italian women,
Spanish women,to name a few and there all many stereotypes about them.

White Americans are basically mutts to be honest a mixture of various European groups with the WASP being the most "powerful". I mean I have German,Dutch,English,and Scottish and a pinch of Cherokee in my veins.

That is why I find those racial questions to be a pile of BS how many people on earth are purely one thing?

Also Miss White America does not need any more help there are tons of women's interest groups out there.
The women that get trodden by abusive men either foolish believe that they deserve it or if they are say a
drug addicted prostitute well they got themselves into that little bind the stronger willed gte them selves out of either situation.

But since this group is just a small publicity stunt which must spend far more of their "charitable" donatations than it gives out then fairplay to them for screwing over their donors

I think that all quotas based on ethnicity are BS. Maybe they made sense some decades ago - today they are just an political instrument.
Seriously: how do they categorize the races for those scholarships? Based on looks? What about tan junkies? Would Obama qualify for a white or black scholarship? What about 1/4 whites, or 1/8th black people? hmm, where did I hear these categorizations before... I think for some native American tribes you qualify as one, if you had one native ancestor at all, at least this goes for becoming a tribe member, not sure how it works for scholarships.

Wasn't there some time ago this white dude from South Africa in the US, who wanted to be member of an African American club? Some people found this offensive, I found it funny. It just showed how much crap race quotas and political correct definitions are.

White Power is more manly, it has that masculine ring. You are referring to Snestorm I assume here? I hope so because if you think that I am a racist you are quite sadly mistaken.Just wanted to clear any confusion if you where referring to me.

The whole issue with things like Affirmative Action(AA) to me is that they have the goal of being equal but they often wind up causing more animosity not less.Also since they do not tell you that due to AA you where passed over for a job or spot in a school those in the minority tend to assume that this was the reason they got passed even though they do not often know the real reason it is often also assumed that if a minority holds a position surely they must have had lower scores than others.

But through my friends in foreign exchange programs sending me pictures of their travels, I do prefer European women. A nice, thin, pale French woman or a deep olive green eyed (tho uncommon - everyone in my immediate family has green eyes) Italian...

But... Back on the issue...

Ehh my friend may have said that in the heat of the moment, like my friend screaming GD (insert Air Force general who's name I don't remember) when he was rejected by the Air Force Academy.

I do think that minorities are given special treatment, and, I have seen minor examples myself.
