I think that the creation of a new GWX must be reconsidered again using sh4 as a engine.
If it's going to be as user friendly to modders as has been suggested, I reckon there will be a few modders past and present who may well venture into the game to add a few 'improvements'.

Fingers crossed and all that.

That's a really sweeping judgement you've made there. We were all stupid kids once. I would like nothing more to see some teenagers get an interest in subsims.

Well, I appreciate the candor from the devs, and of course thanks to Neal for setting that up and posting...

But I think it's now quite clear that "we" were not the target audience for this game.

Dan: It's a Type VII submarine. We think that we have modeled all the significant versions, meaning Type VIIA, which we didn't have before, Type VIIB, C, and C41. We think this time we went much deeper with the Type VII than we did before. For example, the Type VIIA didn't have reloadable torpedoes in the back, so with just one shot and you'd have to come back home to reload, and this is now done in the game and we corrected other little defects with the class.

well doesnt say they left out type 2/9

Yes, it does, when taken in the context of Neal's question:
Quote:
Neal: which submarines will the player be able to take command of? Type VII , Type IX, Type II?

Dan: It's a Type VII submarine
Nothing vague about that at all.

Yeah but horrific part is that some guys with day jobs, will have to:

Write 2 years worth of campaign files from scratch.
Create & kit bash some quality nurbs models of Types 2 & 9 (+interiors)
(No imported Sh3 meshes, as they will look possitively turd like, in the SHV world.)
Then there is the inplementation of all the upgrades and god knows what other hellish logistics.
Any takers?

Sure its possible, but done properly its still a massively time consuming headache (of GWX 4-like proportions....)

The Job of the modder is to paint the window frames and fix the guttering, (maybe build a plastic conservatory if he has time)
But this is like asking him to build another two floors and install the roofing.
You normally pay someone to do that

im curious as to what end the game may meet with.

how does the story end with 2 furious and challenging years of World War Two still ahead???
Upon finish there will be two Win Explorer popups. One will be linked to the future DLC's page but will crash on opening. The other will inform you that your PC is infected and will offer you to explore the koobface virus for free.

Unfortunatly, once you get into modding, it just doesn't work that way.

I ain't hurrying out to buy it, as I did with SH3+SH4, I even preordered the deluxe SH4, not this time...
Agreed. I've been on the fence for a while, but now I've decided to wait until it hits the budget bin or until a suitable expansion pack becomes available.

This means no SH5Cmdr--at least from me--but honestly, I know me better than anyone here and, despite the expected "don't judge it until you buy it because you're wrong" responses, I know enough now to know that it's not shaping up to be the type of game that I'll enjoy...at least cetainly not for the AU$90 list price that it carries here.

For me, viva la SH3/GWX!
