Hi all,
I'm working in an update of my optics mod, and will release the NYGM as primary version, but also some more for other supermods. For the purpose of deciding the final size of the periscope view in the screen I'd like to know which monitor size you guys are using. Smaller monitors will require, to provide the desired effect, a larger viewport, while larger ones will be OK with a smaller one. Thanks for taking two seconds to click on the poll option, no need to leave comments if you are short on time but I appreciate your help ![]() Preview of the VERY EARLY BETA so you can understand what I mean by viewport size, and gauge it in your own screen: ![]()

Think the usual resolution from these days onward will be 1680x1050

22" 1920x1080 here, I don't think that will be typical though. Common wide screen tends to be 1680x1050.

He probably want to know what's the most used resolution so he can build up a gui to that especific resolution, since SH3 doesn't auto arrange stuff around when you change the resolution. He might even be considering a resolution selector built-in his supermod.

But reducing the size of the scope viewport will only produce a reasonable effect in monitors that are large enough to give enough detail, as f.e. a 15 inch monitor with such a small viewport will be probably too uncomfortable for the player. Thus, I want to know the average size of monitors to tweak the viewport accordingly, as ALL other camera angles in the game will depend from that. What I want is that the player gets an overall better sense of proportions and distances in the game, i.e. that he starts being able -as was done in real life- to start estimating distances by naked eye, and that when looking through the optics, the correct proportions are kept instead of introducing an element of distortion because of their too high detail and zoom. This will allow the use of quick range estimate tables like this one (Copied from a real life one!), which I'm trying to incorporate as slide-out: ![]() and also an overall better depth perception, despite the 2D screen. This has a huge effect not just in targetting but also in maneuvering! Thanks

I say also 'Great Work!', Hitman. I use your current manual targeting system all the time.
I voted 17-inch, which is what I have currently, but that is likely to change very soon with the release of Win-7. So I'm not sure how much my vote is relevant. Stiebler.
