Great tag-line!

I bet if the Subsim community put her shoulders behind it some chrono company could actually be talked into making them!
LOL! That would be... incredible...
not incredible... collectible...

backup you're old clock.dds in \data\menu\gui first and then replace it with this one ==> http://rapidshare.com/files/22030472/Clock.dds.html
cheers

edit: updated bad link to hamilton chronos
the only problem i see with this is they dont show a pre 1941 model which would be what they had on subs, plus the ww2 marine version comes in a box not a hand held version but maybe they had both.

also that file path has to be for v1.4 because v1.5 has two clock.dds files, one is in data/ menu/ skins/ gui/ american and the other is in the same path but in the german folder but the german chrono has no name on it and looks generic

Zombie threads arise!

Unless things were different back in WWII, government issue (paid for by Uncle Sam) watches had no company logo on the face ... often because they were manufactured by more than one company (and the face had to be "uniform"). Usually, the company's name was etched on the back, along with a serial and/or part number.

Customized watches (commercial watches created for military use) were sold with company names on the front. They were fancier ... and usually sold to proud parents or wives to give to some smart, new graduate of a military school.

the german version is just that, generic with no name or any writing.

it could be swapped out for the one in the american folder and have both as generic watches.

what im curious about is the one in the game has a seconds and a minutes little circles and his only has one little circle with both needles in it, so how can that work with just a dds file? doesnt it need to remap the location to put the other needle in the right place?

Default machinist watches

here a friend who works in PR once made for us some simple (chinese??) machinist (train driver) watches for my company

the cool part was that he could print the face plate. so it had our logo

if interested, lets choose some designs and send me the faces in high resolution, so I will ask him.

main cost would be shipping, as I dont think they were over $15 to $20 a piece....

hows that for an idea??? there are some very cool designs (the black one is a beauty), then there`s the Neal`s Made in texas one....

do let me know.

ahhh the wonders of being in the third world, were small orders are the norm...

It probably does. Check menu_1024_768.cfg and compare default to what's included with the download.

You can place two objects in the same place from a dds. Of course they need to be separate selections in the .dds.
For example your depth gauge, it has one needle for your depth and another for your periscope depth, so they are in the same loction, just not as obvious as the watch. Of course it would matter which order they are put in to determine which one shows on top.

well it is an old mod from v1.4 days so we cant expect it to be perfect but its only a dds file, thats it, one image file and nothing to tell the game to place it differently than the stock clock image.

Default Mavericks

Life goes on. Jeff Clark who discovered Mavericks, the great swell near SF, started the Big Wave competition. He was just voted out as president of the board of directors of a company he started, even though he was an original competitor. There is a lesson in there somewhere that pertains to the newly designed stop watch.

I like the mod. I put a copy of its pic under my pillow, and it is still there unless one of my curious poddles has devoured it.

Good Job, captain.
