Hi guys.
You request the mission from the flotilla leader.
Click on the mission showing in the top left corner.
This will take you to the place on the map where you request the mission.
This shows on the map as an icon showing a sinking ship.

When you start the mission and go to the nav map you should see the icon with the sinking ship which is your patrol area.
You need to patrol near to the icon and you should pick up at some point a contact.

Unfortunately this is not true, you can not see the icon with The Wolves of Steel. You need the coordinates and you will find them on the left in the Captain's log. When you have the coordinates, you can use the krigsmarin-tool located under the maps

What you say is true but, if you look at post #5744 these guys are not playing with TWOS as they are showing the tonnage bar on the maps.

play with OH2.5, mods on the map is not installed.
The problem is that there is a icon in the briefing, but not on the map.

and in the log is written
"patrolling the area" without coordinates

What???? :P

You'll have to click the radio operator's portrait at the bottom of the screen, click the 'Reports' order tab, and then click the 'Send Patrol Report' button.

You can change the hull number of your U-boat in the OptionsFileEditorViewer if you want it to match the stock game messages (personally I just ignore the stock ones and only acknowledge the mod ones).

Anyway, it's best to ask these questions in the NewUIs mod thread, as Open Horizons II has nothing to do with your questions.

I tried something similar some time ago but without encouraging resoults . Type ll rendering will afterwards drastically compromise game stability. This ctd scenario can be both observed in campaign and in museum too...

P.S.
what's changed recently so you've decided for this patch again?
