Hey guys. So I got SH5 yesterday and I had downloaded Magnum Opus but didnt really play it because I then found Sobers but I cant get the UI to work in Sobers so I am reinstalling the game (maybe that was the problem) but anyways I was just wondering what mega mod everyone else is using or what others out theyre are good. In general I guess I am just wondering what mods are basically a must have for SH5?

After spending 2 whole weeks trying a working mod soup, reading all kind of threads, smashing my keyboard with my forehead, I finally got something that worked more or less. But new mods arise constantly, and I kept adding, and adding, and changing the order, and it usually ends like this: CTD.
I finally installed (with some minimum changes to fit my tastes) the MMM by Pedrobas. It now comes with an executable file and is reaaaaaaally easy to install, and it works. I recomend you to try that one (and JGME if you don't have it, it is a mod installer and is a must). And do not read any more threads about mods untill you're worn yourself out actuallly PLAYING the game, because if you do and you are like me, you will be spending the rest of your life upgrading and never playing (I never reached 1940, but this time I swear I will). Read also this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=178048 Good Hunt. |

It already is. I am coming from SH3 which I also love (my first WWII subsim since GATO, then I made a big jump to 688 and Dangereous Waters), and I think SH5, is in its current state, fully modded, is totally playable. It will only get better. Sure there are things I miss from SH3, but that's ok, I live with it (I never once played with a type VII, so I miss my Type II, and I loved knowing my crew, and managing it). But one thing I really enjoy of SH5 is knowing for sure that my game will load next time I try!
I've been gone for a while, and I've been reading the posts about SH3 and SH5, which, by the way, are always kind of boring. There is no competition about those sims, people should play what they enjoy playing and let the others have their own opinion. So threads like: is SH5 playable? Well come on! Just buy it for 5 bucks and try it! If you don't like it, then, next time you go out, just drink 1 less beer and voilà. |

I agree Tolkemec. I'm still knee deep in modding SH5 myself. People need to realize every game is gonna have a different flavor. Even sequals in a series are gonna be different, or else there would only be 1 game, no sequals. I can't say I like SH3 or SH4 better than 5, because I view them as different entities. I actually like them all, however, with a glitchy vanilla game, the mods is where the most satisfaction comes, of course getting them all to work together. It's kinda like buying clothes, look good in the window, but are different when you wear them a while. I also think a person's personality plays an effective factor as well.
