Default [TEC] 3D editing

Hello, I recently edited a ship's 3D model using S3D and Wings 3D, when I imported it I had a problem, the hand rails were very thin, and were textured wrong.

Export settings for S3D:

Flip coordinate system: unchecked
Reverse face winding: unchecked
Float percision: 10
compress floats: unchecked
Use materials: unchecked
Save/overwrite MTL: unchecked
Saved to .obj format and includes both .uvw

Import settings for S3D:

Import vertex normals: unchecked
Flip coordinate system: unchecked
Reverse face winding: unchecked
Use materials: unchecked
Collapse to single mesh: checked
Imported .obj and both .uvw

Before:

After:

After from side view:

Any help would be appricated.

Thanks: Miner

If you export without 'Use materials' you essentially collapse seperate parts of the mesh that use different materials into one meshpart. It's an option but should generally be left on. It is also recommended to save an MTL, UNLESS you have one that contains the same materials as used by the node and with the same name.

Even if you'd directly import it without editting in a 3D studio you would see the same. Only the first material is now used on ALL faces. The railing however must use the 2nd material which most likely has the 2-sided flag set (so it can be seen from either side). Yet now it is rendered with the first material (which is one-sided).

[edit] Whether this solves the thin looking railings depends on if you have a different texture on the 2nd material or not. I suggest you go try the above first. I can not imagine that just an export and import will affect how thin/fat it looks.
