Default When you dont need them, they show up

I was in the north sea, round about grid square AN46 i suppose, when the watch crew spotted a British submarine headed westerly along our path.

I decided to dive deep and move quickly into his baffles as he had yet to spot me. My plan was to surface astern of the enemy and engage him in a gun dual as i was completely exhausted of torpedoes.

I kept frequent track of him on the hydrophone, listening closely as i neared his baffles i heard his engine suddenly roar to flank speed.

figuring we had been detected i surfaced at flank speed and immediately crewed the deck gun.

"Fire at will! aim for the waterline!"

before the first shell was loaded into the deck gun, a massive explosion swallow up the entire British sub.

suddenly a JU-88 came roaring past out of a swooping dive he climbed up and took an easterly course toward Norway.

at this point my watch officer turned to me

"aircraft spotted!"

I glared at him

"...secure the deck gun. watch crew to the bridge, navigator, return to base course for the kiel canal."

Did they wave and give you a smug grin as they flew by?

We can be sure that he didn't grin, and that was certainly no wave he gave them!

I imagined they shot me a nice salute and thought "Good of us to show up and save that U-boat! I'll bet they toast a drink to the luftwaffe tonight!"

Wasn't it the Ju-87? Is the Ju-88 in the game?

These guys do have a "sixth sense", don't they?

Also, in reality, the U-boaters would in reality be happy as... as... as dolphins? (That's what you get when you practise your English on the internet. You can't speak without swearing]

But I understand your disappointment, I would feel it too.

The glorious Luftwaffe did it again.

Those flyboys took the victory away from the U-bootwaffe!

I saw a couple of JU88's bombing Polish ships in Danzig harbour at the start of the war. So yes they are definitely in-game

I am looking forward to meeting the Ju-88 then... Although you have better chance of seeing a polar bear than seeing a Luftwaffe in action in this game...

Keep a lookout for the whales and dolphins also.

I should have also mentioned icebergs I suppose...you'll probably come across something when you least expect it.

Never met an iceberg either. And I was visiting Greenland in January 1941 not too long ago. Although after seeing this I might re-think my time compression usage...

The impressive things about the icebergs in SH3 is how realistic they are.

Beneath the surface, they spread out and extend very deep... So it is possible you might approach one to get a good look and find yourself colliding with subsurface ice...

Encountered 4 just a few days ago southeast of Iceland.
