Screwed up my 1st patrol
As they say you live and learn... well NOT to use the same name when saving missions mid-career, that is!
Yes, the game courteously informed me of all previous saves associated with the name being overwritten if I do that, but I thought this doesn't matter because I didn't want to save any old situation snapshots anyway. Well, turns out that the gig never registered in my career at all so back to square 1 we go hehe ![]() The patrol itself went pretty well, and I even sunk a Granville freighter when zig-zagging around my designated grid (AN21). To call the weather c**p is an understatement of the century however; the first 2 days off Kiel were sunny and the rest were spent in a worst possible thunderstorm ever ![]() Not to mention that I of course dove too deep at some point so that my IIA couldn't eventually go deeper than 50m without taking damage ![]() But yeah, all in a day's work for a budding sub skipper eh? Anyway back in Kiel now with a well-earned cigar in my mouth, and a huge glass of cognac in front of me. S! |

Funny, I always use the same saves over and over an have never had a problem. Maybe I've just been lucky, or maybe I just never learn.
As to the weather, that's a well-known bug. One possible answer is here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=130147 I linked to the special fix for the GWX problem, but the other versions are at the link as well. I'm not really playing right now, so I don't know how well it works; but this thread will explain the problem.

![]() ![]() ![]() What I had to do was to delete the old career and create a new one using the same Kaleun name, plus play 1 short bogus mission and finish it by docking at Kiel. I then had a Kaleun with one mission completed, and the rest was pretty easy once I figured it out; I just added the single sinking I made in the lost original mission (a 4650 BRT Granville freighter) into the files manually, plus adjusted some date values, and VOÍLA!!! Leutnant z. s. Salamanowski is now in Kiel waiting for his second mission to start!!! So OK lads then - the drinks are on me down at the Kneipe tonight ![]() S! all. Kaleun Salamanowski, the commander of U-2, signing off for now. |

![]() That gig was - and I kid you not - the BEST gaming / simming experience I've had ever. Didn't even matter that I only sunk 1 freighter and that was pretty much all she wrote... This game combined w/ GWX 2.0 rocks, period. |
