Two ways to avoid subnets. Either follow it until it ends and go around it, or surface and go over it.

Hm, can't one avoid nets and mines by using the Scope under water ? Visibility is reduced there but it should still be possible at daytime or at least in twilight.

But personally I only would try this <= 1940

you can lift the scope up a bit like the observation scope wich allows you to have a little peek underwater so you can see around you

Boom! You'll never know what hit you :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Best is: Stay out of shallow water!!!
That's the Golden Rule of a submariner.

Why ? If it goes BOOM then it wasn't the subnet. Not much else left what it could have been

Instead of raiding Loch Ewe, plot a course inline with the northern coast of mainland Scotland and Stornoway. I've sunk over 6 large tankers in that area and they are only escorted by an Armed Tug Boat! You also get a convoy coming through past Stornoway which is easily dealt with.

I'm using GWX 1.03 currently in August 1940. Type VIIC.

Hope this is of some help.

hmm, don't bother with loch ewe, just loiter in AM36, lots of traffic, you might even find a taskforce and bag yourself a BB or 2 on the move,

as for the stay out of shallow water rule, I think it's more sort of a guideline really
