Loch Ewe Help..

I Am Planning An Assult On The Loch This Evening. Tried Once But Ran From Multiple Dd's Once I Got Even Semi Close To It...any Tips Out There To Give This Capt A Chance?? How Do You Protect Against Sub Nets??

Two ways to avoid subnets. Either follow it until it ends and go around it, or surface and go over it.

You on a suicide mission?

Mmmmm

let me see here

the last time I tried to enter Loch ewe

1st mine field before subnet (Ok)
Minefield passing attempt 1 (Failed crashed my sub into it)
put my sub in revers and pulled it out of the net

Minefield passing from northen end (OK)
2nd Mine field after the subnet (BOOM!)

sunk :dead:

Maybe I Should Re Think This Plan And Just Keep Hunting Convoys.....

Hm, can't one avoid nets and mines by using the Scope under water ? Visibility is reduced there but it should still be possible at daytime or at least in twilight.

But personally I only would try this <= 1940

Good lad, stay in the open and the chance is higher to survive till the end of the war.

How Do You Even Know Where The Mines And Nets Are??? Do You Just Blow Up And Go "oh Theres A Mine"???same With The Net Thing. How Do You Know Its There?

HunterICX 06-22-07 11:39 AM

you can lift the scope up a bit like the observation scope wich allows you to have a little peek underwater so you can see around you

Boom! You'll never know what hit you :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Best is: Stay out of shallow water!!!
That's the Golden Rule of a submariner. :yep: :yep:

ichso 06-22-07 11:54 AM

Why ? If it goes BOOM then it wasn't the subnet. Not much else left what it could have been ;)

Instead of raiding Loch Ewe, plot a course inline with the northern coast of mainland Scotland and Stornoway. I've sunk over 6 large tankers in that area and they are only escorted by an Armed Tug Boat! You also get a convoy coming through past Stornoway which is easily dealt with. :arrgh!:

I'm using GWX 1.03 currently in August 1940. Type VIIC.

Hope this is of some help. :)

Thanks For The Tip....i've Been Running The Halifax Hiway Seeking Convoys. Had One Last Night Without Any Dd's With It. Sank 2 T3 Tankers And 3 C2 Cargos. There Were Merchant Ships But It Was Bad Weather And The Buzz From My Ale Was Kicking In So I High Tailed It Back To St.nazaire To Collect My Promotions (3) And Ic's (2 Second Class And 1 First Class)...

hmm, don't bother with loch ewe, just loiter in AM36, lots of traffic, you might even find a taskforce and bag yourself a BB or 2 on the move,

as for the stay out of shallow water rule, I think it's more sort of a guideline really:D
