Many thanks, works fine. :up: , but downloaded and istalled the V1.91.... and there is the V1.92.... is it a new patch ?

Please... did you increased the crew rating into the DDs and DEs in this version ?

They are very much more effective detecting my periscope visually in this new version ...

Crew levels I did not chnage, but escort AI.

BTW realistic repair times are also available at my dl-section.

Version 1.91 should already remove CTDs.

Hi HanSolo...

Finally i arrive to the age later of Normandy invasion, and the air raids over Lorient start up.

I have the same problem than in previous versions, when the b-24 Liberators appears, the game crashes.

I was able to pass the mission in the same way than in previous versions, aparently if some of the 16 attacking B-24 was shot down, the game not crashes.

Then i increase my 20mm shells power, and decrease the planes armor and max speed.

I put 4 Petit officers with flak gun qualification on battle sattions.

After run the mission a half dozen of times, i was able to continue.

Any idea wich can cause the Liberator crash the game ? :hmm:

I attempt removing the liberators and bombs textures, but seems to not have any effect.

Hmf.. a few days ago a passed these Liberator bombers after leaving St. Nazaire but I did not have any problems. Also I don´t know what could cause these problems! :stare:

I have just installed v 1.92 yesterday on a clean 1.4b install of SH3. I am experiencing 2 problems. The F9, F10, and F11 keys do not work unless you use the Alt-key with them (Alt+F9, Alt+F10, Alt+F11). Is this normal for this mod?
My second problem is more severe. I experience A CTD when ordering the sonar man to Report nearest Warship using the mouse to click on the icon. At the time I am at periscope depth with a destroyer coming on fast but he it did not spot me, it was just traveling fast. When I clicked my mouse on the Icon for this command, the system freezes and a few seconds later the message comes up informing you of a fatal condition etc. . My system had good frame rates when this happened. Over 100 fps and I have 2GB of memory.
I don't see it being this. I tried to find the file the message claims it left to report this but can't find it, even using file search. I will try to recreate this and see if it will leave a report file so it can be known what the error was. I am using English language on all the choices. I am using SH3 Commander but will try with out it for the error problem. It was not used the first time I tried this mod and I still had the F9, F10, and F11 keys problem. SH3 commander didn't change that problem. (If it is one?)

My system:

Athlon 64 FX-60 dual core, 2.6GHz
Asus A8N32 SLI deluxe MB
2GB DDR400 memory
7900 GTO, PCI-E, 256mb
Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

I reinstalled SH3, 1.4b patch, and WAC 1.92 full version. I still have to use the "ALT" key with "F9", "F10", and "F11", but I made a test dive with a friendly destroyer nearby and didn't get the fatal error but the sonarman didn't have any contacts anyways. I guess he doesn't report contacts with a known friendly that was only 1600 m away at 12 knts. speed.
I did not install the extra sound pack from your site this time. I will check this again when I can find an enemy warship to report on sonar. Continuing this patrol.

If i dont remember bad, F9, F10 and F11 behaviour is caused by the Resolution Fix. :up:

If you mean the d3d9.cfg and the d3d9.dll, I had tried removing them in the earlier install but it didn't change anything. I no longer have the CTD problem so it was either the sound package or a bad install.
I will try deleting those 2 files and see if it gets F9, F10, and F11 working correctly. I can live with using the ALT key with them, though. I had a harder time getting used to the enter key being the pause key. In the earlier install I mistakenly fired a torpedo at the Type 34 destroyer I followed out of Lorient. Fortunately I had it set on impact detonation. It went right down the side of the destroyer without detonating. 1 torpedo wasted! but at least I didn't get a friendly unit!.

Edit:
I just tried it after deleting those 2 files and everything works fine now. I must have had a bad install before which caused the problems.

I did this eariler too, was trying to lock my UZO on the escort to check it's speed as we left harbor and well, i missed the lock button and hit fire instead!! The captain wasn't pleased. I explained he must have backed into a rock.:oops::lol:

I got the same problem. If I remember well, it's old story, dating back in spring 2005, so it got deleted from the subsim forum - I couldn't find it with the search function. Sometimes (at random), the "follow contact" commands cause CTDs. It only works if there's a contact to track, so in your second experiment there was no CTD because the sonarman had found no contact to track.
As far as I can remember, the only fix is to designate a key combination for each of the commands. You can do it either by manually editing the entries of these commands in commands_en.cfg, or by using a tool named keymapper by Cavaliere - find it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=78792.
In my case keymapper did not work and I edited it manually, by inputting the hex scancodes of the keys. Then, if you key in the command, instead of using the icons, there's no CTD.

I sunk the cargo, then got DC'ed by the armed fisherman. The problem is I wasn't able to lose the little bugger even after 2 hours of hiding at 80 meters deep and silent running, many course changes and all I could do to minimise noise. Whatever I do, he's upon me and DC's like hell, until runs out of ammo. I looked into campaign.rnd and found the mini-convoy; the armed trawler has a crew level of "competent".
My question is: is it normal for an armed merchant in '40 to find me with such precision - don't even know if they had asdics at that time. Then again, if so early, with just 1 small craft, it's so hard to escape, what will it happen in '43 with three DD's on my tail and crews set at veteran? Or, in other words, It seems to me the AI is too competent.
Did you boost it up that much?
In a separate note, I was really pleased to see 2 German planes appearing and attacking the same cargo, while I was launching the torpedos. Added a lot to the immersion, even though they both missed.

I am using UWAC mod with my own AI detection settings, if you have a problem of Uber DDs/DEs you can try my settings, you will have a good Silent Running protection if you dont have the bad luck to be pinged. You must to prepair your attack to be away from the active beam.

Nop... i dont know, but i note a wide variation on AI detection capabilities when i was using it.

May be you dont need my files then.... may be it is fited with too effective sonars and needs to be edited.

I never take time on an armed trwaler, may be due to this i never note this behaviour before.

I will "disturb" the next armed trwler i found in my campaign to test if i have the same behaviour. :up:

Year is 1940, during the Dunkirk retreat. I see the convoy activity, head there, hunt a convoy, stay at peri-depth. Escort sees my scope and in moments I get 1 DD, 1 armed trawler and an Elco on my tail. To see what happens, I keep my periscope up - a real beacon. They fall in and start ramming me like crazy. I got rammed about 7-8 times, the u-boat rolls +/-90 degrees, conning tower gets to horizontal several times, but... I GET NO DAMAGE!!! And depth remains the same, at 13-14 meters. And no casualty. All this while DC-ing me at pinpoint range. I play 87% realism or somewhere around (only eventcam and outside view activated), of course with realistic damage enabled.
Is this normal behavior if rammed, with UWAC?

Really no... i am UWAC user too, and when i am ramed, i receive lot of damage, coning flaks, deck gun, conning tower, both periscopes, antenas.... some times in yellow, some times in orange, and some times in read with no repair option. :hmm:

Then maybe it's some other mod I installed atop UWAC. I'll try to leave just standard UWAC 1.92 installed, without nothing else, and provoke a similar situation. I'm curious who the culprit is.

In that version there are realistic repair times but drifter changed the damage mode of the uboat so your armor is much stronger! With my next version the damag model will be like my old and realistic repair times!

Great news and great changes. My favorites are:
- the English radio log - adds a lot to immersion for non-German speakers;
- the sonar CTD removed - I identified it in the hydrophone message settings (.cfg file, if I remember well) of v1.92, which I replaced with those of stock v1.9 - after that no CTD; the problem mentioned by wovik earlier;
- removing sonar of armed trawlers - I got pinpoint DC'ed by them;
- and, of course, getting rid of the super-strong u-boot hull.

May be posible to make this optional, the problem is, sure this mod change or needs a fatigue model dedicated.

Some of us are not users of fatigue behaviour, i had removed it, i consider it very anoying and not interesting, i am not the nurse of my crew :D .

May be posible an optional installation of Real Repair Time for non fatigue users ?

One thing more, i found some days ago, a little position mistake into a seach light in Lorient.

It is a seach light at north-west end of the big isle at the outlet of the port bay...

Question for any scriptors: Has anyone worked out the the escort behaviour for the lorient port??

I assume the newest version has it fixed but i'm using the 1.7 version (still use it because it works over my base GW install). I removed all traffic and ships in and around lorient in the editor and completly rescripted the harbor traffic to my tastes. Everything works fine, the aircraft paths work just like i scripted, all other ships out at sea follow the waypoints i assign, -----but the escort leaving the port area still runs aground on that first left turn:damn: . I tried differnt escorts (destroyer, vospotan(sp), armed tug boat,etc) at different starting locations and my set waypoints are well clear of any other ships or obstructions. Tried waypoints right down the middle, a little to the right, and so on. I tried following it out and staying docked. Every time I watch it make that first left turn too early and beach itself for no apparent reason:doh: . A returning sub i scripted follows it's waypoints correctly all the way in until it also gets to that turn and then it turns right too early and goes aground on that same jut of land. The escort also runs it's course correctly if i start it on the other side of the turn away from the port.

Is this a stock glitch/bug for the lorient area or am i missing something??

Way to go HanSolo , I just got v1.92 about a week ago, and I'm really impressed. I like it better than GW, and all the ships. And thank you for making a Light version, or I wouldn't be able to run it. :up:

:up: That seems to do the trick by running the waypoints to the extreme right--it works but it seems the escort is still fighting itself to turn left and beach itself--almost as if the lighthouse there is a huge magnet-oh well that it got it working though. thks han solo

HanSolo fixed this behaviour in latest versions... (V1.92) the "follow me" ship is now a DD, not the armed trawler wich was runing aground. :up:

A DialsFdb (red frame) unit is paid with a setup screen, but does not function. What this ?

I delete it if I teach a parameter.

And I think a too big 6 Meters. A little smaller (about 60%) is easy to look and thinks that operability is good.

In that version there are realistic repair times but drifter changed the damage mode of the uboat so your armor is much stronger! With my next version the damag model will be like my old and realistic repair times!

I believe version 1.7 is the only one that will work with GW--it had specific changes to let it be compatible w/GW. As far as the changes since 1.7--someone else will have to answer that one.

1.92 is a standalone supermod. It comes in 2 flavors, a graphics heavy version and a lite version for people with slower machines.

The 1.7 version loads on top of Grey Wolves and adds the historical campaigns and a few extra things. It works great, I tried it and it worked perfectly. It was a great enhancement to The grey Wolves.

It's a great combo, better than GW itself. At least with this combo, the ships sink and you get to be Captain of your boat instead of having to be the whole crew. It's just a preference for interface actually. If you like the GW interface, then the 1.7 route is a good way to go.

I switched over to UBWAC 1.9x as my favorite and am now doing a full career using it. Love every patrol, can't say enough good things about it. I tried the other supermods and this was the best of all 3, in my opinion.

Historical campaigns and it doesn't have all of the "broken boat" and unsinkable ship things like the other mods. Still harder than stock, but not ruined in the name of realism. You never have any problems finding ships either, there's tons of action all the time. Never a dull moment.

I'm anxiously awaiting the next release.

- Anvart's Lighted Passenger Liner is named "Large Old Liner". Actually, the Large Old Liner is a different ship, made from the NPTR by Chris911. I don't think you currently have it - you want to add it and change the name of the lighted liner.

In the General Discussion section at SHIII Forums, Goose Green posted a thread about running screen resolution at 1280x1024, I downloaded the program mentioned in the Community Manual (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/index.php?title=Display_Resolution) created by Kegetys(SH3 modeler), and it contained the DX9res v1.0 , which I've fount from your Help page that in order to launch SH3 with War Ace, I needed to delete d3d9.dll and cfg files.

I was wondering if you could create something to allow 9res to work. With my luck, it would be a big pain in your ass to write such a program, but I thought I'd ask anyway. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

there are some Sub protection not far away, like in Brest
St-Nazaire, Bordeaux, Lorient, Bergen. So after a little

Hallo Mr HANSOLO! Thank you for your previous modes I really enjoyed what I had been looking for since Silent Service 2 times!!! Many merchnats + historical accurancy. My problems have started since W. 1.92. I have a turion 64-1GB RAM-X700ATI128 etc. Nevertheless, there is no way to load a carrier, even with the lighter version+patch. The museum and the academy work fine with no delays and no lagging:damn:. I have reinstalled SH3+1.4b with everithing removed + My documends files. The SH3 Commander is inactivated and rolled back so...please give me some piece of advice.

P.S. I am a submarine officer so if you want any claryfication on anything ...at your service!

Still trying to install W1.92. I had encountered some problems with GW/NYGM/IUB1.03 but in the end I had been able to make them work. But nothing like this! The carrier loads too fast nevertheless, just before the initialization the game crashes. This happens also in some missions e.g. HAPPY TIMES. It is a video card problem (ATI X700-128)????? I also guess that something is not properly loaded as the elements that are normaly initialized (museum+academy+some missions) take some time while carrier + the rest missions loads immediately and then crash!!:rock:

Now! Untill the SHIV pops up I have some suggestions for you to imply if you find some of them interesting and easy:
- The player should have the opportunity to manualy analyze target's motion by the STRI PLOT method (see Dangerous Waters passive ranging of Perry class frigates). There is only one ruller needed with 1 or 3 minute subdivisions on it according to target's advace (based on it's estimated speed). This ruller is then adjusted on the plotted bearings (1 or 3 minutes) and when the subdivisions of the ruller match the plotted bearings you get the coarse and the distance of the target. This used to be (and still is) the method of determining a target's distance and coarse douring WW1/2.
-Introduce thermal layer.
- Make main engines disengagable while on surface (Noone attacked on surface while diesel engines running!)
-We should be able to handle the two shafts indipendantly.
-Texas type battleship and/or Witchita type heavy cruiser (several times ancountered by U-boots)
-New coastal ferry vessel (remember Athenia and others)
-Dorsetshire cruiser, Eagle type carrier (U-boot victim)
-Queen Elizabeth / Marat type battleship
(All these ships existed in SH2!!!!!!)
-Old american/british/russian light cruiser
-New orders from Doenitz while on patrol!!
-Stop merchants zigzaging and make them go away with maximum speed trying to save them salves and not to make them selves brilliant targtes!!!!!
-Send automaticaly an oficer to the bridge after surfacing!

you have to copy the folder "Sh3" in "own documents" and make a new install with war ace 1.92!
then paste the "sh3" folder in "own documents" after installing the new game.

Hey Tuddley! I didn't visit this forum for a cupple of days sorry:oops: . Well, thank you for your help! You know I think that Warace is the best mod of this devil's game and I think that there is no meaning keep on playing this as long as I cannot install W1.92 properlly. So! let me make a revision!

-I have a complitelly new installation of XP-SR2, registry cleaned, new driver for ATI X700 (128), 1 GB RAM and TURION 64.

-I also reinstalled SH3 +1.4b rolling back SH3 Commander and deleting SH3 from my documents.

- I then installed W.1.92+ patch+sky fix using jsme.

The result is:

-I cannot start a new carrier until 1-1-1941 with or without SH3 Commander

-Unknown reason CTDs after 3rd patrol (Not for the right listening sonar operator)

-Breakdown of voice+torpedo sounds after 3rd patrol.

I also tryed:

- Deleting d3d9s

- Manual installation

-Installing light version

-Always carefully, doing everithing that has to be done (it is not the first time I do this).

RESULTS::damn: :o :cry: :shifty: :o :stare: :huh: :stare: :stare: :arrgh!:


....My opinion is this: The stucture of the Warace mode has some weaknesses which cause instabiliites if the PC is not at least 90% like the system it was tested. Or something like that...

If you have any other ideas Taddley I would appeciate that!!!

I love that game and that mode very much!!! In the name of the million tons we have sunk all these years! Think of something please!!!

I do have a question for concerning the PATCH(I'm sure someone else may have to answer this one, I'm just curious). Isn't that for if you have UBWA 1.8, you use patch to make it UBWA 1.92 ?

Just installed WAC 1.92 and am enjoying it. :D I'd like to install Drifter's Realism mod, but rapidshare says the file has been deleted.

I was on a patrol in 1942 and tried to ambush a fleet convoy - they detected my presence and dc'd me to oblivion! Woohoo! (Was actually doing ok until I went above 140m) Now that's what I call competition! Next time I'll be more careful. :o :lol:

I'm fairly new to SH, but I'm currently using 1.92 improved, and am totally willing to give it a run.
I may not have a clue about realism in a sub sim, but I'm good with computers, and may be able to help support those with "marginal" machine specs.
I am having a slight issue with 1.92 concerning the lack of any clouds at all, even when weather is lousy, but I know I used to have them.
I've done everything short of a full re-install, but I'll naturally reload the sim before trying 2.0.
I've been really enjoying this sim, which is shocking after racing and flying for the last 7 years, (or so).
I guess I must be getting old! :doh:

NO! All the supermods have their own campaign maps, as well as many other updated and changed files. If you load one on top of the other:

At best you will have the files of whichever one you loaded last.

At worst something will clash with something else and the whole thing will crash.

It is possible to change individual files and rewrite files yourself to get exactly what you want, but don't try this unless you know exactly what you are doing.

And even then you'll probably have problems, so make sure you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

But you can also take 2.0 improved with the "scene.dat" file of version 1.92 to get performance improvements.
also setting graphic options to 89% gives you a boost without loss of graphic features!

Yes, I actually removed the an older version of 7zip, downloaded the new one you provided, and everytime I try to extract UBWA Full, I get this:

Of course this is in an error box, but that's all it says. I wish my Print Screen worked so I could take a screenie of what is going on, but my print screen doesn't work in Windows.

I tried deleting UBWA 2.0 Full, then re-downloading it, and I just can't extract it. :cry:

UPDATE : I don't know what I did, but it seems to be extracting right now. I will let you know as soon as I'm done. It even downloaded the file differently this time, before it kept downloading what looked like a regular zip folder, this time it looked more like a QuikPar file. Wierd

I tell ya, I am having one problem after the other. Somehow, when I download the second one, it downloads as a Firefox HTML file. I right click on UBWA 2.0 002 file, go to Opens With : and find 7-Zip, and it won't change to Opens With 7-Zip. So I open 7-Zip, find the UBWA 2.0 002 file, and try to extract it, and I am getting the same problem as with the 001 file(which I was finally able to Extract, the folder had 20 items in it).

So I have now went to Start/Search, then searched for any UBWA 2.0 002 on my computer, deleted them(only one), then removed 7-Zip, then redownloaded 7_zip, then restarted my computer. Now I am in the process of downloading the 002 file again for the 5th time tonight. I don't know if I will be able to extract the second download or not, but I'm gonna hold my breath. I don't know why these things always happen to me :damn::nope: . You have any other idea's anyone.

UPDATE :
After I downloaded 002 this last time, same thing happened. Cannot extract it, WTF ?

don´t know but I think there someting wrong on your pc!
actually you only have to download part01 and part02, put tehm on your desktop and choose one file 01 by first opening 7-Zip and then choose the file.
Now you have only to extract. 7-Zip recognizes the part 02 and extracts all.
Unfortunately I can not upload an other archive because the size would be too big!

Your quiet advertising of this mod has grabbed my interest.

Anyway the full version extracted gave me 1.97 GB (2,120,404,670 bytes)
If you got more, I got problems.
If you got less, you got problems

Opened WarAceCampaign_2.0_FULL.7z.001 with 7z and extracted
while having WarAceCampaign_2.0_FULL.7z.002 in the same directory.

Also have Lite on standby.

P.S. that's after I deleted the extra Hi-rez files, already use it, so don't want to interfere with the existing variant.

OK, now I will throw Graphics Improved in JSGME, and see what happens. I put cursor over Data folder, and it showed 1.97GB, so it must have worked. I was unaware that 002 was extracted at the same time.

UPDATE: All is well now. I have been kicking myself in the head all this time thinking 002 was not extracted, when it actually was. I guess I had Full Version all along, I almost feel embarrassed, but I'm too happy to. I absolutely love the new Sonar Crewman sounds, and how the Captain communicates with the 1st officer, and the 1st officer repeats what the captain says, Just freaking awesome ! ! !

I can't wait to discover what other things you have done with it, sorry if I caused you a headache, but I love UBWA so much, I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks again Hans, Most excellent work.:up: I hope more people try UBWA 2.0 out, as of course I will probably advertise this like FongX3 said, but maybe not so quietly this time ;) Time to make a new sig I guess.

After a clean install with patch 1.4 you should install WAC 2.0 and the "Hotfix". Then there can´t be any CTD anymore!

No. You can delete 1.92 if you want now. You just need UBWA 2.0 and the Hotfix patch, plus you'll save precious disc space that way.

Unfortunately the mods actually push GWx more than other mods... to get the thread sticky took almost a month or more... so.. I´ll contact the mods... maybe they can change the name.

In JSGME it gives Wac 2.0 and fix enabled.
If I run it with just WAC 1.92 enabled it CTD's in career mode and the fix makes no difference. But have noticed that Fix does say for 1942-43 career start.
Looks like I can only play career in basic.

actually the mod works without CTDs anymore!

I think I know what he is doing, he is puting the first folder in JSGME. I think you need to open the first folder(you will see another folder with the same name), and Copy & Paste that folder in JSGME. Because I know you have all the files, this would cause this.

Could you please upload to UBRS or FileFront. I haven't been able to download all weekend long. I lost my previous install due to a System Recovery. I was able to burn 2.0 Light to CD, but not Graphics Improved due to Low Disc Space(reason I had to to a Recovery, Virus/Spyware related). These RapidShare/Speedshare site really suck anyway(Sorry to vent, but I'm a little frustrated).

@ Bill Seiko : I found my CD with UBWA 2.0 Light on it, and looked in it with WinRar and found another War Ace Campaign 2.0 Light folder inside the the one you download. So, redownload UBWA 2.0, Unzip it, open first folder, then put the second folder in JSGME. I promise this will work.

Rapidshare is more speedy ... why you dont use it ?

I checked the files they seem to be ok. Extracts normal to me.
Did you use the latest version of 7-zip?
And.. did you only choose part 1 to extract? Also all parts have to be in "ONE" folder!
If you choose only part 1 and then push "extract" all part will be recognized and everything will be extracted.. about 2GB!

Okie Dokie, nothing wrong exept the path to where 7zip was extracting to. Take a looksey:

I was extracting to a folder named WAC 2.0, but notice the path created by 7z. It is telling it to extract to "C:\Documents and Settings\Smokin' Todd Allen\Desktop\WAC 2.0\WarAceCampaign_2.0_FULL.7z\", looks like it was extracting itself into itself, not into the folder. Kinda like pouring water out of a pitcher into a glass, but instead of the water going into the glass, it is going back into the pitcher. So I finally catch this about 16hrs later(total time at computer), and removed \WarAceCampaign_2.0_Full.7z\ from the path, clicked OK, and away she went.

When I go to the Data Folder, right click and open properties, I see THIS :

It is free, but you are only allowed like 100 MB per hour or something like that. Also, if something is not downloaded for a certain amount of time, the file is automatically deleted(FileFront is only deleted by the "Uploader"). So, Rapidshare still sucks. I see alot of mods I want here at Subsim(like in the mods section), but they are no longer available because there has been a lack of download activity. Another thing, at FileFront, you can download all day long, 2,3,4,5 or more files at a time, no limit, and they will always be there unless the uploader removes them.

FileFront is really FREE. Plus, you cant have a collection of downloads like you can at FileFront, at Rapidshare, it's only one file at a time.

guys im expecting alot of this mod..seen the needs or spect for playing this :)
i hope u did a lot of texturing or rendering..

After many unsucessful attempts, finally i got them, after 3 days of download i was able to have the files... and i was able to rebuild all 3 into the big one.... but when attempt to decompress it...

I was able to download the "upgrade", does this upgrade contains "all" needed to upgrade version V1.92 up to V2.0 ?

i was playing the training missions and everything was going perfect..
when i wanted to do the careermode it hang up on me,..
i even tried without any mod.. but nope.. didnt work..

could it be that its not gwx compitable?
or do u just have to uninstall gwx and install the wac mod..

It cant be added on top of GWX
Nor GWX on top of it

ah i see no wonder it crashed..

gwx needs those mods u guys have of WAC
i especcialy like those ppl that are blown from ship during explosions..
the smoke and pixelfix is a good one aswell.. not to forget the 3d see effect ( or how u call it)
sounds are very good aswell..
its much better then all that normal stuff gwx uses..
okay they have added alot of other stuff.. but if gwx would add these..it would be perfect...
what i like to see for a new WAC is skins for the planes and boats that not realy have a perpose on the game.. buff it up a little more...
and i would like to have more sounds in game..
as example : when you fire at a ship with that 40mm gun and the bullet misses u hear a whoam splash -cut- sounds.. its bein cut half way trough
and as every expansionpack has good stuff..
i dislike the impact texture on enemy/hostile boats.. they are to unreal..
but thats my oppinion though..
i like the rest of the WAC what ive seen so far..

A small thing I have to add... you almost always write of "UWAC" but due to the fact that Travinky also released a second part of his original work which has been "U-boat War Ace 2" I changed name to "War Ace Campaign".
So I would recommend not to swap names to avoid confusion ;)

Hans, I am doing my part to spread the word about this Supermod I love so dearly, and to help you out. So, do you prefer me to write WAC instead. I was always wondering why there was 2 abbreviations for it. Now I understand,UBWA is the predecessor to WAC, like RUB is to GW's.

I have made corrections Sir at FileFront, and above:up: I need to make a new Sig now LOL.

I also want to add, I am uploading WAC 2.0 Full to FileFron also. It is so massive, it will be in 4 Parts. From what I've heard in the last few days, Full version is well worth it. I suggest using Hans site 1st, if you can't use his, you are more than welcome to download from me. I will post the links as soon as they are complete.

I have the Black Sky Fix at FileFront also.

Use www.7-zip.org !!
Choose file 1 and extract to somwhere. Part 2 will be extracted automatically.
Should be about 2GB extracted...

This would be awesome!
I used UWAC to acclimate myself with SH3, and still love the MASSIVE content!
I hope Han and the GWX crew can negotiate something to integrate UWAC events and such into GWX for the physics/damage benefits of GWX.
This would make the entire community happy, and Han's great work could then be more widely experienced and appreciated.

I am the original author of the scipts.
I just allowed auser of the german ubi forum to make only this operation compatible to GWx.
It´s just the weseruebung operation so that people can have a taste of my work.
If you want to make it compatible to further versions of gwx you´re allowed to do so.. but I don´t want it to be included permanently into GWX!

All compatible versions of this addition should only be downloaded from my site!

Hi There,
I'm at the end of my tether. I have done everything I can think of and all that Han has said. Extractwith 7 Zip and I get a folder containing a 661 MB Win Rar Archive file which, when I try to open it gives me the message that is it either damaged or in an unknown format. All extracting seems to have done is combine 001 & 002.
Please HELP!!! I need this new adventure.

Yes, I am using 7-ZIP. I D/Ld 001 & 002, then right clicked 001 which pointed me to 7-ZIP. I highlighted 001 and clicked Extract to desktop. This produced a file called WarAceCampaign 2.0 FULL.7Z 677339KB Type WinRar archive. Double left click produces information that 'the archive is either in unknown format or damaged'. Right click points to WinRar archiver, which obviously won't help.
It seems I need a way to extract from this file.

You seem to be getting the combine bit OK but your file is not extracting properly/
at all.

Was wondering if the association in Windows....I assume XP btw ?.....was actually correct.

If you go to ....Control Panel/Folder Options/File types and scroll down to 7zip...do you see the WinRAR icon (pile of books) or the 7Zip ?


Edit: Another thought: Did you put your original 001 and 002 downloads in their own separate folder before extracting? Think this advisable or even essential!

Thanks for the interest. I made sure the file types are set to 7Z. The problem seems to be that when the files combine they become a Winrar archive, but won't extract because there are no Winrar archives in it. I think I shall have to give up on this one and use the Lite installation. I'm losing the will to live.

If associations are properly set in Windows and 7zip is given charge of that file type....Winrar shouldn't enter the equation at all!!

All my 7zip downloads show as a yellow folder with a Z in the top right corner.

Do your original d/ls look like that??

Sorry for all these questions btw. My WAC 2 version came from Tuddley's mirror (Tks Tuddley :up:) which is in 5 parts and WinRAR format...so I am a bit in the dark as to what your version ought to look like!!

Tuddley's FileFront page (this thread, page 22, post#427) - Just click on link.

However, before you do that, suggest you check and see that your windows temp file is clear and has enough space to take about 2GB. Sometimes decompression progs use this file while working and if it is too small....strange things happen!

I use CCleaner regularly to make sure that the file is kept clear.

Would also recommend that you do sort out the 7Zip install problem. 7Zip is being used increasingly and later versions can't be handled by WinRAR.

If you need any help on this, I'll gladly help,,,you can PM if necessary!

War Ace Campaign light











Ports along the Atlantic shore are completely rebuilt. New ports added for: USA, France, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Poland, USSR as well as for some regions: Africa, the Middle East, South America, Madagascar Island. Moreover seaports are enlarged. Anyway it far more simple to name regions without any change: Gulf of Mexico, Indian Ocean, Pacific and, naturally, Antarctica.



CHANGES to the U-Boat War campaign:

- "Norway campaign" 1940 worked out in detail. NOTE: Do not dock at Narvik in April 1940 - April 15 the port will be captured by British expeditionary corps.

- Special attention is paid to the "Battle of Britain" 1940-1942. Luftwaffe air attacks of London and southern UK cities.

- 1939 Polish Campaign added. In particular capture of Gdansk (Danzing) port. Should you start your campaign in 7th and 1st Flotillas, remember that on September 4, 1939 you should you take your position not far from Gdansk (Danzing) harbor.

- The Hunt for "Bismark" reworked. Now British squadrons do not disappear after "Bismark" is sunk. They keep moving and later return to their home ports.

- February 12, 1942 "Scharnhorst", "Gneizenau" and "Prinz Eugen" break through the English Channel from Brest base.

- Mediterranean campaign also changed for the period 1941-1944. Allied forces landing to Sicily detailed. "Husky" operation.

- Convoy traffic is changed and added to the Black Sea region.

- "Overlord" operation and Omaha beach (how could we forget it)

- Bay of Biscay 1943. Now is historically dangerous for German U-boats to cross it on their way from bases to the ocean.

- Air patrols added above waters of Britain, USA, Iceland, Africa and Caribbean Sea.

- Patrols crew levels changed.

- Ground units improved.

- Traffic added for: France, Finland, USSR, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Romania, Mexico, Argentina, Columbia, South Africa.

- Some WW2 episodes added: campaigns of German Blockade-breakers: "Pinguin", "Anton", "Kormoran", "Atlantis". Mining of the channel between Greenland and Iceland by German destroyers, accompanied by hostilities with British destroyers performing the same task.

- Night raids of British destroyers in the English Channel, plus there are artillery batteries covering this part of the Channel.

- Due to harbor traffic, which is an easy target, Anti-sub nets and partial mine fields added.

- Silent Hunter III wolfpacks intorduced to the game through mods made by Sergbuto.

To install the "Kaiser-Wilhelm canal, Suez canal and east entrance of Scapa Flow" extract the file "Kiel_Scapa_Suez" and start the programm.
Then you have to choose the main map file in /data/Terrain/data; now execute the programm.
The canals will be created itself.

Thought I'd just like to mention the radio messages in game. There's about 400 kb of them and they add tremendously to the sense of actually being there in a wartime situation.

F'rinstance you may have been allocated a patrol quadrant and, halfway there, you get a message to return to x and await further orders. You may then be told to proceed to another area or rendezvous with other vessels including capital ships.

Other radio traffic includes messages to other U Boats, messages from them to BDU , positional reports for friendly vessels and of course enemy convoys.

Brilliantly done, but with one major drawback, they are in German. Well, there are English messages too, but only about 60kb of them.
The messages are usually fairly short and for anyone with a reasonable knowledge of German won't present a problem. However, if you only have a rudimentary knowledge of the language....like me....a permanent connection to an online translation service would be advisable. Be prepared for a lot of alt+tabbing though unless you've got two computers and a KVM switcher!!

Then there are the planes and I just don't mean enemy planes - there are stacks of friendlies too - if you are anywhere near Danzig at the beginning of the war, you'll see waves of Ju88s and Stukas going in. Report a convoy and you'll get support - not always to your advantage though! Once had a convoy torn apart in front of me by Ju88s or Stukas ( don't know what they were - didn't get the sky scope up quickly enough to see them) but they left me a damaged small merchant. Just lining up for the coup de grace when crash bang the freighter rolls over and sinks. Saw what they were that time - Arados - had never seen them in the air before let alone bombing anything!

Then there is the German navy which doesn't just disappear 200 yds outside of port and there are the missions in the Baltic and...and....could go on for ages.

:o I think I just did!!

All told this is a refreshingly different version of SH3. If only Hansolo could get someone to help with the full English radio message translation, WAC might be as popular this side of the channel as it is on the other. It deserves to be.:yep:

Wow and that is the 'lite version'?
Looks like quite the interesting supermod. I do belive I shall try this or at least the lite version on a new carrer. I have had some problems adding heavy mods like harbour traffic durring mid-carrer so I'd like to avoid that. (like the base has been changed to Kiel bug, even though I transferred to Lorient :88) then you have to hammer the ok for the save to load..)

The heaviest mods I use to date are the hartbour traffic & Serg's merchants. It's looks as if WAC has most of this, indeed maybe more. There was alot of extra information / help installed with the harbour mod though I'd hate to loose that.
I'd also like to know if someone can tell me please if WAC changes other game mechanics such as identification, buoyancy, or renown. There are somethings I don't want to change.

Cheapskate; Not to worry I'm well versed for Radio Messages, I did an additional messages mod you might want to look at, it has some 475+ time-line messages. That, plus collections & back-up from other mods - my messages_en file has about 1900 lines. ;)
Almost forgot to add: there are some on-line translators but as I discovered and had help with, these are word-for-word and not nessesarily the use of the language.

Hi Danurve

WAC seems pretty tolerant of outside mods (it'd better be, I've got a few issues with some sound effects on V2) but would advise against doing anything to the Campaign files. Harbour Traffic is a definite no-no I'm afraid.

Don't think you'd miss it though. WAC has its own harbour traffic. Perhaps a bit more military in content than Rubini's (which I use on my Stock 1.4 install) but impressive nonetheless.

Appears to be fairly standard re the specifics you mention, definitely doesn't have the automatic surfacing feature as in GWX! Map identifiers are standard ( i.e.colours and tails).

Difficultywise its between Stock and GWX. Maybe it could be hardened up a bit but I'm not going to do it....find it OK as is....besides I don't want to die - not even in a game!

Did know about your interest in Radio messages and will gladly give your mod a go. The nice thing about the messages in WAC are that they are often specific e.g.if BDU says the Koenigsberg will be leaving Kiel at xxxxhrs on xxxxx then it does. If you happen to be sitting around the harbour at that time you will see it too. Went out ahead of it once, was going a bit too slow and it very kindly went into reverse to avoid running me down....Deduct one point for lack of realism :lol:

Hope this gives you a bit more info to go on.

Yes of course the information helps, sparks interest. So I downloaded parts 1 through 4 and will probably try and install WAC 2.o this weekend. Might still try the light version first I dunno.

Do have a question though, on Tuddley3's d/l site there is an extra sound d/l (400 megs). There is a sound folder already in the 2.0 folders, wondering if this is in addition to/for WAC 2.o or something else. There's a seprate sound d/l for the light version so it got me wondering.

The full version of V2 ( in Tuddleys part1/4 ) does contain the new sound files...just rechecked cos I knew I'd downloaded 5 files from Tuddley...the other one turned out to be the fix for the possible black-sky effect which some users get. Didn't happen this time, though I got it with 1.92

You will need the extra sound file pack if you use the Light version.

Personally I wasn't too keen on some of the new sounds on v2 ( some Das Boot sounds were included but they didn't seem to mesh seamlessly with the game. Plus the gramaphone tracks are mp3.....nice reproduction but can cause skipping.

Anyway I have got my own favourite sound files ( diesel engine, ambient internal and external etc) no doubt you have too. And it is easy enough to convert the music to OGG.

No Supermod has EVERYTHING a user likes, but so far WAC has a good 80% of what I like. So remember what things you like from stock or other Supermods, and just instal them over WAC. Then you should have a perfect Supermod.

Do these folders go into the data folder first as well like the sound folder etc? Presuming they do but just making sure.
Also wondering what the other sound.zip (not the one for the light version) on your file site is all about.

No Danurve they don't. You can put them wherever you like.

The only thing that needs to be in the Data folder are the two files:-

Terraindata.BFD and Terraindata.BFI .....in data/Terrain/data

These will have been modified automatically when you run the repackers.

If you look in this folder after running repackers, you will also see backups for each repacker you have run. There will be three sets of backups if you have installed all the terrain modifications. If you want you can move these elsewhere too.

Mention this because each backup set is about 250 meg and you may want to keep your install as streamlined as possible.

BTW Like your radio mod.:up: Really adds to the atmosphere :yep:

For reference purposes, I started with a fresh install and 1.4 patch and installed the complete WAC (all 4 zips worth) with JSGME.

Hm.. did you extract the 7-zip archives? (It have to be 7-tip archives!)
You should have a folder with FULL version and about 2GB size.
Then copy it into JSME folder.. enabler the mod and... you have also to enable the
country changes (Suez canal, Scapa Flow, Helgoland,, Kaiser Wilhelm Canal).
Choose the apropriate folders you will find in SH3 root directory after enabling the mod and execute the .exe files.

modisch; Do you have SH3Commander installed? If so make sure you rollback before you install the mod with JSGME. Also if you use commander under sh3 options make sure you reset any t/c back to default, then try again.

So far I'm very impressed :up:
The new officer icons, control icons, excellent dials! Most excellent details as well, I got a kick out of the new clothes my officers are wearing. A+ on the aircraft & ship details. Getting used to the new sounds etc. While in - near port if im not in 1 t/c my old agp-256 card has a hard time processing everything!

A couple of things I noticed and of course it goes with any new software I suppose while your getting to know it.
However I might suggest a rework of the installation instructions, just to clarify what to do with the folders and how they need to be organized, and what exactly someone needs to do with the extra folders once WAC is installed. Since there is more then one source or d/l etc.
Anyhow some of the sounds, officers following orders (ahead one third - ahead full etc.) are a little quiet. I had to make some adjustments in the game settings to get the volume to my liking.
There is minor issues with the carrer messages_en file. Some of the lines had incorrect spacing and other lines looked like they got word-wraped and some duplicated. No big deal the good lines probably would work anyhow and since I'm very familiar with the messages I fixed the file. Then added some other jazz and my own mesages text-mod of course.
Also the game - carrers takes longer to load up now, but given all the extra jazz installed with WAC that is to be expected.

I got done with with the first patrol with WAC 2.0 and got promoted to Lietenant Commander (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/23_22.jpg).

Nice details in this mod, very nice!
First up was a wrecked coastal, all rusted up! Suprisingly it was putzing along half sunk about 2 knots. Gave her a mercy killing with the 88 (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/1_765.jpg).
Then a lone C2 crossed my path. What a fine, purty ship (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/15_41.jpg) it was. I decided to spice up her paint job (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/16_0.jpg).
I get a convoy notice shortly after the grid patrol was done and tracked it down. Scored two cargo ships and a pyro on the first attack (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/20_28.jpg). Then I escaped and estimated it's course, found the convoy with the hydrophones (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/8_703.jpg) and attacked it again one grid away. 3 fish remained, 2nd attack wasn't as good as the first but still alot of fun (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/23_21.jpg). 1 fish bounced and another wounded a cargo steamer, but I scored a 2nd. pyro. And finally, a shameless plug for the time-line msg mod at work in WAC 2.0 (http://huntny.us/sh3/3_04/17_30.jpg), good show!

I usually have more explosions & jazz in my screens but hey attacking a convoy with a new mod one must first get to know the mod! I didn't screen the air patrols attacking me, but I can tell you this - a twin 20 flak isn't cutting it anymore. Dive!

The damage model takes a bit of getting used to, Im also having a difficult time filling the damage control team box with crew. I cannot get it to "auto fill" or use the mouse to fill from quarters, I can only drag and drop one at a time. Other quarters fill - move to rest normally. Hope that makes sence.

I attacked a convoy in BE and then got blasted, took forever to dive from the damage! Turns out this convoy had three DD's and 2 armed Trawlers that didn't take a likeing to me taking out troops transports and C2's. Well, I managed to evade and later surface while using the phones and track the convoys position. This patrol has 3 forward fish left. Didn't get close to them in battle but I did manage to intercept a task force and nail the Ark Royal Fleet Carrier! Friggin Awsome!

I haven't even gotten into `42 with 2.0 yet! If I make it, the air patrols getting out of the Bay of Biscay are kickin my @ss. I mean I can usually deal with the Pby's & bombers, but fighter planes - ouch! When they get spotted now it's dive time. Great details on the aircraft btw! Eye candy is one of the reasons I play this game & enjoy WAC.
Any work being done on the read-me or manual? Or perhaps some detail explaining the damage control - repair system?
I am getting used to it I think, but I would like to understand more about how it works.
For example I'm in a current patrol, intercepted a large convoy with 4 escorts. First attack was hairy, but even in calm seas using T1's I managed 4 scores. Dang costal got in the way of one run, I usually go for the tankers & troop ships etc., so I had to wait for 1 reload. Anyhow then I was able to dive using the path, noise and cover of the convoy but not before the escorts depth-charged my jazz bad, and the boat took alot of damage. So now I've been shadowing the convoy after it regrouped for 2 days, and most of the repairs are done. Going after 2 more heavy puppies, but I need the stern tube for this to work. In the F7 screen the stern tube compartment hull is still red, and indications are functional. But then why is it still red and I don't know what's wrong, or how much longer the repairs will take.
It will be sunrise soon and those escorts arn't going to like me any more then they did before :arrgh!:

On a more serious side note I would like to suggest;
Increasing the volume of some of the sound files by 20% or so. It is what I did to mine that way the in game music or gramaphone doesn't drown them out. Maybe that's just me though.
I've also edited and shortend the length of the radio msg received ogg and added a short morse code clip to it for my personal use. I would be glad to make it available even if it's just to hear it.

Not certain what damage control mod is implemented in WAC but I do know one of the most popular requires you to put people in the room itself to repair it.....So in your case try placing some in the stern tube compartment.

Speaking of mods is there a complete list of all mods implemented in WAC 2.0...that would be very valuable

I'm out of Brest, headed for Ile d'Oussant,* off the coast of France with a VIIB in 1940 and there's a stationary cargo ship burning next to the island! Then three Luftwaffe air craft show up and finish off the merchie. Good show. :up:

Headed northward, beautiful day, no fog, light winds; watch spots a C2 cargo. I order ahead flank until well ahead, then periscope depth and shoot one fish into the C2 and surface to finish it off. It calls for help . . . watch spots an enemy aircraft! Crash dive before the air craft gets a good fix on me, it drops some DCs a good 500m away. I reduce speed to 1/3, set depth to 30m and head away from the merchie to set up another attack...!

GWX is a great mod, but for unbridled action you can't beat WAC! :yep: :arrgh!:

I also would like to give kudos to HanSolo. I purchased Silent Hunter III more then a year ago but only over the last week or 2 have I really sat down to play it in depth. I first tried GWX and although the entire atmosphere and game play made the stock game 100x better I just found it was abit to difficult for noobs like myself with the higher threshold's for damage and other items which historically correct made it tougher.

I then found this mod and its exactly what I'm looking for at this time. That is to take advantage of all the eye candy and other numerous mods but still leave in play the same type of damage system the stock game has. Now once I finally become seasoned at this you damn well know I'll be loading up a second copy of SH3 to play GWX.

I am thinking about trying WAC (after 3 months with GWX im so bored!) but its hard to get. The two download mirrors on WAC official site is not enough: one is down and Deposite files is worse than rapidshare :/
So - i am planning to play SH3 with WAC v. 2.1 (when it will be available) but if it will be difficult to download ill stay with GWX (it's not a threat - i just think that a lot of people may be in that situation: want to try it but cant download it - and you are loosing "customers").

when a compartment is red, it means it is beyond repair [try sticking an Officer in there; you will probably get the message 'compartment destroyed'.] If you can stick 'other ratings' in there then you should be able to shoot from the stern but reload might be a little problematic.
