The Great Kantō earthquake devastates Tokyo and Yokohama, killing an estimated 142,807 people, but according to a Japanese construction research centre report in 2005, 105,000 are confirmed dead. Varied accounts indicate the duration of the earthquake was between four and ten minutes.

Unknown lighter (Japan) Great Kantō earthquake: The lighter, loaded with lumber, was shattered when caught between Lyons Maru ( Japan), that had broken adrift from her dock, and Empress of Australia ( United Kingdom).

Been past there many times.
At one time there was a motel built in the shape of an Airship near there.
It was demolished years ago but I did see it before it was totally removed.

Taku No. 5 (United States) With no one and no cargo aboard, the 19-ton scow was blown ashore during a gale and wrecked in Taku Harbor in Taku Inlet in Southeast Alaska. The wreck was hauled ashore and burned to prevent it from causing further damage in the harbor.

La Guardia (Spain) The cargo ship sank at Tarragona, Catalonia.
Rubaiyat (United States) The motor vessel capsized 10 minutes after leaving dock at Tacoma, Washington due to cargo shift. Four crew killed.

Lizzie Trenberth (United Kingdom) The schooner, which had departed from Runcorn, Cheshire, on 24 September for Mevagissey, Cornwall, was last reported on this date. No further trace, presumed foundered with the loss of all hands.

City of Westminster (United Kingdom) The cargo ship ran aground on the Runnelstone, Cornwall. All 48 people on board were rescued by the Penlee and Sennen Cove Lifeboats.
Kennecott (United States) During a voyage from Cordova, Territory of Alaska, to Seattle, Washington, carrying a crew of 31 and a cargo of 6,000 tons of copper ore concentrates and 40,000 cases of salmon, the 3,620-ton cargo ship was wrecked without loss of life at Hunter Point on Graham Island in the Queen Charlotte Islands off the coast of British Columbia. The cutter USCGC Unalga ( United States Coast Guard), the survey ship USC&GS Surveyor ( United States Coast and Geodetic Survey), and the steamer Cordova (flag unknown) rescued 23 members of her crew. Her captain and seven other members of her crew remained behind to guard her wreck and were rescued later by the salvage tug Hercules (flag unknown). Kennecott soon broke up, and the two main parts of her hull drifted away and sank.
Norman W. Strong (United Kingdom) The schooner ran aground in the Saint Lawrence River and was wrecked.

Viking (United States) The 27-ton, 47-foot (14 m) gasoline-powered vessel washed ashore at Sitkinak Island in the Kodiak Archipelago during a gale. She had broken her anchor chain when the storm struck while she was anchored in the harbor at Kanatak on the Alaska Peninsula in the Territory of Alaska on 3 December and drifted over 70 miles (110 km) to the southeast before coming ashore. She was a total loss, but her cook survived the ordeal.

Lois (United States) While at anchor with no one aboard, the 21-gross register ton motor vessel was driven ashore on Pitt Island (58.1089°N 135.4519°W) in the harbor at Hoonah, Territory of Alaska, by an ice floe, then was destroyed by a fire that occurred when her captain went aboard with a lantern, triggering an explosion. He survived with burns about the head.

Swallow (United States) After her gasoline engine stopped running during a voyage in Southeast Alaska from Ketchikan to Metlakatla, the 10-gross register ton, 32.2-foot (9.8 m) fishing vessel drifted onto a rock and was wrecked in Nichols Passage off Driest Point (55°10′40″N 131°36′15″W). Her crew of three survived. Her wreck later slid off the rock and sank in deeper water, leaving only her mast above water, and by 23 February she had disappeared entirely.

Wyoming (United States) Carrying a cargo of coal, the 329-foot (100 m), 3,730-gross register ton six-masted schooner foundered in a storm while at anchor off the coast of Massachusetts in Pollock Rip Channel off the Pollock Rip Lightship in Nantucket Sound. Her entire crew — reported as both 13 and 14 by different sources — was lost. After finding the wreck with some of its masts still above water, the cutter USCGC Acushnet ( United States Coast Guard) leveled the wreck because it was a danger to navigation.
