Never saw the TBF/TBM in game before.
It's terrible if it's actually supposed to be a TBF (wings and H stab are wrong, as is fuselage... Oh, the gear are in the wrong place, too ;) )
Looks like the roundels have the Star with a red circle in the middle. That was eliminated before TBFs ever saw combat (for fear of what happened in this thread, misidentification with japanese aircraft :) )

a zoom on the above picture. it was an ATB torpedo plane. saw it a day out of davao on my return trip, I planned to scout the northern coast of Australia..
I knew it was an enemy cause my crew fired at the plane ! and the plane dropped bombs at us. ;)
Anyone got a better 3d model of an Avenger ? with the rear belly gun ?
we should make a new plane, IJN for instance, and set up a US 3d model to simulate "friendly fire" ?

Is that the SB2C that is in game?
The Avenger (TMF or TBM depending on if Grumman or Eastern (General Motors) built it) in RSRDC is actually an Avenger.
The pic you have is the stock "torpedo bomber" which is in fact an SB2C I think ("Helldiver).

For your campaign, are any gamebreaking issues, im just asking beacause if you could release it in some later time like a beta, dunno when, october november are fine. I understand the free time you put in that and i hoped to have at least a minimum knowledge on pc, and modding to help you. Maybe i will be satisfied when i will try your junsen b mod.

Edited the DG's position : too close to the tower, now set at 1.4, moved the scopes a bit.

Hello! Nice work on the Sen Taka, need to take a closer look on it.
during the creation of your mod, have you encountered the problem that there won´t more than 10 tubes show up on the german periscope-panel?
I`ve now been working on the problem and finally managed to implement working buttons for the tubes 1 to 10, but tubes 11 to 14 are only shown with the "empty tube" button and are not selectable. a little stupid as my cold war subs use up to 14 tubes. any suggestions? CU

We went from the stock's 6 german tubes to 8 functionnal ones as our IJN subs had a max of 8 tubes.
Didn't need 10 on the IJN side ;) but all show as forward tubes on the C2, but really Peabody is the one that got them working, he also made a smaller torpedo lights mod for that.

Dyshman is currently modelling the Type C submarine
(5 hulls : I-16, I-18, I-20, I-22, I-24)
He has offered to iinclude it in the Jyunsen B mod, the very subs that saw action at Pearl Harbor.
These five boats carried the five midget submarines that were deployed to assist the attack on Pearl Harbor. All of the midgets were lost, and only one actually entered the harbor. It fired its two torpedoes at a seaplane tender and a destroyer, but hit neither, and was promptly sunk by the destroyer.
On 30 May 1942, I-16 and I-20 launched midgets outside the British naval base at Diego Suarez, Madegascar. A third midget, from I-18, failed to launch. The midget from I-20 damaged battleship HMS Ramillies with one of his torpedoes and sank a tanker with the other. Neither midget survived, although the crew of the midget from I-20 made it ashore, only to be shot and killed by British soldiers. An attack on Sydney Harbor the very next evening achieved nothing, and the five midgets employed, including those from I-22 and I-24, were all lost. I-16, I-20, and I-24 were used to launch midgets off Guadalcanal on 7 November 1942, when the midget from I-20 damaged a transport, but again none of the midgets survived the attack.
None of the C1 Type survived the war. Famed destroyer escort USS England sank I-16 northeast of the Solomons on 19 May 1944. I-18 was lost to destroyer USS Fletcher and an aircraft from cruiser USS Helena south of the Solomons on 11 February 1943. I-20 was an operational loss in the New Hebrides on 10 October 1943, while I-22 was lost operationally in the Solomons on 1 October, 1942. Patrol Craft PC-487 sank I-24 off Attu in the Aleutians 11 June, 1943.

RO-33, RO-34, RO-35, RO-36, RO-37, RO-38, RO-39, RO-40, RO-41, RO-42, RO-43, RO-44, RO-45, RO-46, RO-47, RO-48, RO-49, RO-50 , RO-55 and RO-56
These double-hull medium displacement boats were derived from the Kai-toku-chu (KT) type. They were constructed at four shipyards in two variants, the K.5 (RO-33 class) and the K.6 (RO-35 class), from 1934 to 1944. The later and more numerous K.6 variant was armed with the 21-inch oxygen-propelled Type 95 submarine torpedo and a 3.25-inch (80-mm) deck gun. Allied ASW measures took a heavy toll of the type. The RO-50 was the only ship of the type to survive the war and was surrendered at Sasebo.

As a bit of constructive criticism though, it could just be the screenshot angle, but the water particles look like they're coming from above the deck, rather than out the sides of the boat.
Not sure if they're meant to be like that, but it just looks unnatural. Could they be lowered to the sides of the boat. Other than that, amazing work to all involved :salute:

2. The I-52, which is relieving the MOMI, is expected to depart from Singapore in the latter part of March. As her cruising range is greater than the MATSU, it will probably be unnecessary for her to refuel enroute. (GZ/Jap.Nav.Att.#8860-DI)
So it's ok for now to play a jap sub in the IO, yes we have been working for ? two years ? at the IJN campaign.. it was harder than first thought and we have now 15 submarines for the player to choose from !
I just hope SH4 isn't dead in the water...

now analysing the model....
The hull looks nice with sunk in waterholes and sonar array details, very nice stern and bow tubes too, the tower didn't look any more detailed than mine though, less so I'd think, so the hull might be a go.

the model looks fine, textured and AOmapped ok in S3D but when ingame it's dark when surfaced, the wooden deck doesn't show and the hull is dark too...
maybe it's because of the high poly version of the hull ??? maybe SH4 can't handle it ??

:hmmm: my system "freaks" out a bit when running it.
Fog turns on and off in strange jumps and having other glitches, like if SH4 is skipping some frames...
Running it on a Core i7-930 w/6GB RAM and an ATI 5970, so further upgrade of HW is a bit... difficult... :O:

Third patrol on board a Kaichu
I am asked to leave Penang and intercept a Task Force in the IO before they reach Melbourne. Intercept northwest of Coco Island. I layed in the patch of the coming ships hoping to get close to the 2 Fidji Class Light Cruisers,
As per orders from the C and C : one torp for merchants and DDs, two for light cruisers and a full salvo for Aircraft Carriers.
I fired a salvo of two torpedoes at the first CL, hit fore of the middle :

I noticed this going on when I tried texturing the JB a (long) while back, everything was showing up far too dark, when I was putting in a light grey it would be way darker than that grey, I had it at almost white before I was comfortable with the shade.
I suggest plugging it into whatever program you use and lightening the texture, just flavoring it to taste. Luckily, SH4 loads much faster than SH3.
I remember waiting 30 minutes for a game to load only to have it CTD.

Went hunting for the task force in the southern part of grid LC, I just transfered to Batavia hoping to get a new boat sooner ;)
found the task force coming in fast at 16-17 knots, got the lock, de-locked, aimed a bit in front of the bow of those fast movers and hit both Dido and Fidji, then hit the last Fidji in line

patrol 9 : find and sink convoy
on my way loosened two Type 95 mod 2 torpedoes at an escorted T3 7000 meters aways :

crossed path with a Huge European Liner (18 k t !) and send it to the bottom with 2 Type 95 mod 2 torpedoes (1213 lbs of explosives), my favorite type of late with the Type 89 (longer reach).
I then let one more Type 95 mod 2 at a DD, and my only accosutic torpedo at another.. this torp missed that DD but came round and found one that had just DC me !!!!

But I have decided to release this version because it is much more advanced than the previous 3.7, has more subs and weapons.
I have had help from Elanaiba with the torpedoes sim file recently but that one isn't in this mod.
out of the 14 playable subs, only the Sen Toku is unfinished. So you get all the weapons and all from the 3.7 mod and more...
You now get a new Kaichu model, and the Sen Taka Fast Attack submarine too !

One can see the Type 95 dual 25 mm AA gun in the tub. Hello Keltos, I got the U-boat missions add-on today for my SH4 and decided to give this mod a run. Sadly, I'm experiencing some trouble with it, and the game crashes after the intro movie. :damn:
Any advice?

maybe if you set it in the american roster and have sh4 v 1.5 would it work, otherwise it would mean cahnging a lot of files, and I don't have the time to spare.
I am still trying to get the gun director to swivel with the DG as should be and improve the binoculars/uzo too

Two Italian ocean-going converted supply boats were taken over by the Germans in Southeast Asia after the fall of Fascist Italy. After the defeat of Germany, they were interned by the Japanese, but also not used operationally. At war's end, the Allies scuttled all of the captured foreign submarines.

It's simple install:
1ş - SH IV
2ş - SH IV U-BOOT MISION
3ş - JSGME
4ş - Unzip the mod in the MOD folder
5ş - Activate with JSGAME

this is a japan sub mod, japan is axis, axis is German, german means U-boat mission, so you need U-boat mission

i did try to play with the german side however i can only pick the german u boats not the japanese so maybe the mod does not work although others use it i downloaded it from this forum i will keep trying
Let's step by step
Silent Hunter IV and Uboot missions clean instalation.
Unzip the mod and enter it in the folder MODS of jsgame. Corroborates the path is correct.

Try this:
Open the "IJNJyunsen B MOD 3.99993" folder. Check for a folder called Data.
If you open the "IJNJyunsen B MOD 3.99993" and you find another "IJNJyunsen B MOD 3.99993" folder then you need to take the mod out of the first folder. Some Unzip programs create the second folder.
On a MOD the first folder is the MOD name, inside that folder should be "data" (there may be some other 'Readme" files or other stuff also, but there must be a "Data" folder.)

What happens is that you have not unpacked the mod. Use Winrar from [/URL][URL="http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html"]here (http://www.winrar.es/).
And after you unzip it must remain so, look at the route.

Ok, are you using other mods with it? That could be a problem, so try it by itself.
I think you know this but the Japanese subs will be in the German Career.
1. What windows version are you using?

I checked all boat's upcge and fixed what needed to be for the tubes' dates. This problem was brought up by Peabody and Radio, I had fixed some of the boats previously but the job wasn't thourough ..:oops:

I have to correct my general statement about the rather low reliability of the Torpedoes and their weak warhead! After testing other torpedoes than the Type-89 I can no longer report any issues with them. That and the sinking mechanics do work now as intended! It seems the Type 89 is simply weak and, compared to the newer fishes, more unreliable. Which is perfectly understandable and acceptable seeing its age.
Atm I am at 100000brts of enemy ships sunk (with my current campaign with captain "Tadao Nara") amongst them several destroyers. One lengthy battle between a Somers DD and my I-11 sub reminded me so of the film "The enemy below", awesome :rock:. Could only take him out by using one of my sacred Kaitens and sacrifying the life of its pilot...
Should have been more careful, snorkeling close to a harbour surely wasn't a good idea, that DD could sneak up on me without me even realizing that he was there
Anyway, just wanted to say Domo Arigato again and tell you how much fun I have/had with this mod!
Oh, btw, one more question: What about the ship acceleration physics (of the allied warships mainly), will something like that be included? I worked around the problem by using only electrical torps on the Warships, but n official a all-in-one solution would be fine.

The stock Sen Toku I400 is not playable, but both Keltos and myself have made versions that are playable using that 3D model. So one version is in the mod. Both will be in the final I hope.

In game it only supplies air to the diesels for more speed, it does not resupply the oxygen supply.

I've been tonnage happy in this mod it turns out that Midway is only guarded by 1 destroyer. That destroyer is really stupid and crashes in to the dock,:har: So I end up sinking all the ships there and get 100k tonnes per patrol. And I keep on getting the nights cross and throwing a party with the crew of my type AM.:woot:

There were some a lot smarter than me that tried. So if you have an idea feel free to let me know.

Returned to the IJN and have more bug reports:
-Kaichu boat has a significant visible gap between the tower and the hull when seen from the side
-Kaidai Type 4 is missing the heavy AA that one can equip and put crew members in, in the game it's not there
-Kaidai Type 4 periscope depth is wrong, the sub does not reach the surface
-Kaidai Type 3a misses the tower when starting a campaign in 43, has no watch crew and no AA or DG. And the torpedo loadout is incomplete in the harbour
-Several subs have a very low 1/3 speed, the steps are 2knots, 6knots and suddenly 12 knots, better would be 4,8,12 or something more linear
I think will now wait for an update and/or new version before i return to the IJN :wah:

Im,pretty sure it's already been adressed,but the Menu music seems to loop mid-song.Dunno if thats intentional or not.Also,whats the name of the song?I'd like to hear the whole thing.
Other than that,love the mod!I personally cannot wait for Climb Mount Niitaka! no real big problems over here,other than the Sen Toku's Skin doesnt Render right,as in it's just Soild Black.Kinda like the North Carolina used to be.Dunno if it's on my end or the mod's end.Besides that,most minor gremlins will probably be fixed in the full mod,and I can wait.
One Final note,as I haven't used them yet.What Exactly do you mean by "Human Guidance" on the Kaitens?I know they are suicide torpedos,I was talking in-game.Do they Zig-Zag like an acoustic torpedo?or is it Ladder Search based?

Hi! Seems there is a bug with JC2 type of sub (8 fore torpedoes).
I am running V1.5 SH4, and I cannot load more than 6 our of 12 torpedoes to the reserves. It lets me move the default loadout, but once I removed 1, I am not able to drag over a new one and put it in reserve.
If I remove more than 6 from reserve, I can add up to 6 torpedoes (i.e. the top aft reserves can be added to, but not the lower aft reserves).
If I mod files to change capacity from 6 to 12 on each of the reserves I get teh same issue, I can change the top 12, but not bottom 12.
Keltos has not been around in a while. It was an attempt to create and upper and lower bow torpedo rooms, which he said was what the real sub had.
In the process he also created two bunkers and that part does not work right.
A quick fix, since you said you tried to edit values. In the "NSS_Jyunsen_C2.upcge", find the first bunker and set the values like this:

No, not really. We are all waiting for [wip] japanese campaign mod. There is a separate thread for it. I am aware of the status of the [wip] japanese campaign mod is presently, and for a while. Peabody is the main modder for that. I have not seen any further development for years on the Japanese campaign mod. We hope Peabody is doing well in real life then.
The [REL] Jyunsen B, Kaichu and kaidai IJN mod changes what you see as fleetboats to japanese subs.

In SH4 I only see those poor Japanese survivors on lifeboats with cleaned jap uniforms. Also some sailors and officers in the ships.
BTW my son asked me why there are ever five survivors on a boat and only one works with the oars. My answer is "that is hardcoded" ;)
Really there aren't Japanese uniforms for SH4 playable ships.

I have noticed a few bugs with the mod, about 40% of the subs will crash the game when they're rendered( when they're in game), the most notable ones being the kiadias the C3, and several others, also the Sen Toku is black, as in no textures, it works fine, but it just looks really weird since the entire thing is black and some of the meshes are missing I think since the deck gun is floating off of the back deck, I'm running no mods and I'm running into these, I just wanted let someone know about this since it's a WIP, so that it can be fixed or something, don't mean to be a bother or anything.

Is this mod compatible with 1.4 version of the game? Cuz when I try install it i get the IJN loading screen but the game crahses before i get to the menu. Same when I tryed installing the surcouf mod or RFB. :/\\!!

Yes, you will probably need to upgrade to v1.5. Just get yourself the Gold Edition of SH4. It has the UBM and is the latest version of SH4. If you buy on Amazon through the Subsim Store (http://www.subsim.com/store.html) a part of your purchase will get back to Subsim. Just scroll down the p[age little bit and you'll find SH4.

I'm not certain, but it could be one of the early Kaidai KD boats, either KD-1 or -2, or maybe a Kaichu. I don't think the sail is far enough back for it to be a KRS minelayer though, but I'm more inclined to think it could be one of the "prize" Uboats they got from Germany after The Great War - or it could be a model that we have no pictures of. If it's any of the below vessels, the sail has been modified.

You'll notice on all three of the IJN-built boats above, that there is a "hump" above where the forward torpedo room would be, and in all cases, the forward deck gun has been removed, and the sail re-worked. My guess would be a modified boat, most likely a former German WWI Uboat with a crew in-training, used in a propaganda film on the Inland Sea, not the Pacific. At the 12-15 second mark, notice the "modern" AA gun on the forward top of the conning tower? Notice also the crew "posing" up-top. Bunch of hams... :03: - Also, how many men does it take to maintain and operate their diesels? Very realistically, notice how long it takes to dive the beast?... We'll have to see if kelto01 or someone else with Sensuikan knowledge comes along and lets us know.
Anyway, most of the boats that it could be would have been being used in the submarine school at the time. The submarines that keltos01 does have modeled are:
Type A1, Type AM, C1 / C2, C3
Jyunsen 1, Jyunsen 1M
Jyunsen B, Jyunsen B2, Jyunsen B3
Kaichu, Kaidai 3a, Kaidai 3b, Kaidai 4
Ko-Hyoteki
Sen Taka, Sen Toku
so basically, most of the "Fleet" boats (other than the Ko), active in the actual conflict - well, other than the last two "dream" boats... You'll have ample opportunity to attempt to sink a cruiser yourself in the game. The trick will be surviving for a follow-up... :o
I'm doing further research now, since I've found me a few more resources, and once we hit a lull in the FotRSU mod, I hope to be able to send keltos01 a version of CMN for consideration as a "beta" release. No historically accurate availability dates or anything like that, but a version that hopefully we can see how some of the ideas floating around in the grey matter actually function - if they do - but I'm still weeks away from that, almost the same place I was previously, due to "issues", shall we say, in getting some things to NOT work as hoped... sigh... :wah: :D

Ok... I did try it.. with both Fifi's DW v6 mod set & then with the original Op. Monsun... & could NOT get it to work with them, 100%.
The issue I ran into what with it, was both ways, I ended up with NO crew in the sub, & NOT enough left in the pool of crew to even try transferring or attaching them as being the subs crew.
I did... however, get it to work with SH4+UMB plain jane stock... & after a fashion, with FotRSU-EN... some cam.dat issues but it did run...
After that, I kept the stock SH4 set up & am running it.

Crew, in sub... still needs some work... do have to report, seeing quite a number of kriegsmariners onboard... I did see 1 or 2 that looked to be right orientation of oriental appearance, but too few... & yes, I do know it is a work, in progress... just mentioning it so that it can be looked into & corrected... other than that & I know... I know.. finding voice actors or sound clips that can round out the vocal files... is not easy... but that aside, grand work. A tip of the hat to the modder.
It is hoped that something can be worked out to be able to get sound to fit the overall aspect for the mod... keep up the effort....

None of the Japanese mods are compatible with DW nor OM, of course. Different rendering environment. Stock is all that keltos01 & peabody's work will function in. There also are no "Japanese" faces for a sub crew, no any Japanese uniforms. We also need some British uniforms for WDAD, btw... keltos01 did share some Japanese phraseology with me, so his and peabody's mod will have some of those in it, but the sound issue is sadly lacking for most things "Japanese" or "British". Attempts to rectify the situation have proven unproductive, in that there is so much that needs "fixing" in the "speech" arena, not forgetting the text areas of the game, as well as cultural differences. You need tea cups on the desks, and not coffee cups, Japanese posters, and not German, etc. Some of this will be addressed, but there are still large parts of the game that need work for a "Japanese" career, not the least of which is the actual operation of a Japanese submarine force, as opposed to a German or American. Completely different paradigm that involves Bushido and "sacrifice"... :salute:

There are certain pre-requisites involved in using any mod, no matter which. Number 1 being, what folder do you have SH4 installed in? You cannot be in a "Program Files" folder, even if you have Steam, and the path to the game is "C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam \SteamApp \common \Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific". You Steam Library folder has to be something like "C:\Games \Steam..." or some-such. The same holds true for a Ubisoft or Amazon download version of the game, as well as the disk version. Second, after activating a mod, you almost always have to empty the game's "Save" folder, which by default is the "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" folder, with "UserName" being whatever username you use to log-in to Windows with.
If you navigate into that folder, you'll find a "... data \cfg..." folder structure. Delete any of those folders, and that will clear the game's information, which it will then rebuild the next time you start the game, only this time, it will pull in the newly activated mod's information, and not what you had previously. This of course, does lose all of your game progress thus far, and will re-set all of your in-game options back to their default values, including the screen resolution. The use of MultiSH4 (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1110) can help in this regard, but would be considered an "advanced" technique initially.
If you would, post back with the location of your game's installation folder, some computer specs, such as cpu & amount of RAM, and use JSGME "Tasks..." "Export activated mods list to --->" and "Clipboard", then paste that info in also... :salute:

I started with a new installation, consider that I have installed SH4 just for this mod
The steam Librery folder is D: \ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Silent Hunters Wolves of the Pacific
I deleted the cfg folder in D: \ OneDrive \ Documents and as a result the upload bar went all the way but then the splash screen got stuck.
The processor is an Intel i7-7700K and the RAM is 16GB.
I have to install opmonsun before? I didn't find it in downloads.
This is the info in JSGME:

No, no need to install OpMonsun for the IJN subs to work. There really isn't a whole lot to do in just that JyunsenB mod, and you might be interested in Cybermat47's mod Japanese Career (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4554), which works with keltos_01's subs. It is basically the German side of the game, with some files changed to reflect the IJN subs use. However, get the JyunsenB working first, since it is a pre-req for Cybermat47's mod.
Now, your install folder is good. As for your "Save" folder, what you have there is what MS Win10 is intercepting after Windows most recent set of updates, designed to force folks to use their One Drive, like Apple does to folks with their devices and the iCloud. But see if there isn't also data in a "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" folder. Several players recently have been reporting it empty though, and that Windows 10 is now exclusively using the %$#@*& idiotic One Drive... in which case, you delete a file from the hard drive, and Windows instinctively knows you really didn't want to do that, and restores what was there from the "cloud"... so check that One Drive folder again also... I have one computer doing that, and I still have not figured-out how to bend it to ~MY~ will, and not Billy Boy's...
Now, did the game run fine previously? Prior to attempting to install the JyunsenB mod? If you back the mod out, does regular SH4 function once again?

There is your problem... getting a black80.tga error coding, means that the version of SH4 your using is the v1.4 one.
You need to be running the SH4+UBM (SH4 with Uboat Missions version) which is v1.5 here for the mod to work as it should.
I do have this set up on My computer & it is working fine... & is v1.5, NOT the v1.4 version.

having issues using this mod with FotRSU compatibility addon.

Howdy all,
having issues using this mod with FotRSU compatibility addon.
JSGME looks like this

Japanese Career FOTRSU compatible V.2
Any ideas as to why it doesn't work? Would really love to do a campaign with this and FotRSU if it's possible, if not I'll stick to just running it without FotRSU. Thanks in advance, captains.
That's because you can't run this with FotRS, not even with Operation Monsun... Best advice, run those with just flat out stock SH4, make sure to use MultiSH4 to have a separate game save folder for it... ensure you go into the SH4.exe 'properties' & make sure read only is unchecked on the main page for 'properties' & set it to run as Admin, save that & close out 'properties'.
Also, ensure you use either 4GB RAM patch or Large Address Aware, to have 4 GB of RAM assigned to it...

would be helpful to know your SH4 source.. & are you running a single drive in your computer or a 2 HD set up... or 1 drive with external hard drives... that info is helpful to know... :yep: :hmmm:

Precisely. If you want to attempt to run a Japanese campaign now, try Cybermat47's Japanese Career (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=2164269#post2164269). The download link is on his page, and it does require the use of keltos01's Jyunsen B mod (that link is also on Cybermat47's page). Note that Cybermat47 notes it should function in FOTRS, but that is NOT FotRSU. The issue with FotRSU comes with the ship "calls", in that we use different ClassNames and ShipType designations than any other mod, or Stock. Because of that, use of anything other than "certified" FotRSU mods can and usually does result in CTDs. I really wouldn't trust any other mod with Cybermat's, since he wrote it for Stock, and most mods change at least one ship, with the Conte Verde the biggest "offender"... :salute:

I just downloaded this mod, some of the submarines are missing torpedo tubes, though they have storage. The C3 and the A1 being the ones I was planning to play as

Some cut and paste with existing files in the texture folder can handle the faces.
