The UV seam is down the side, not at the curved front, so the part that the numbers are on are not mirrrored.

So you can see what i did. I really am only using DXTBMP and MSPaint. Lawl. Reload after edit is not working for GiMP with this occolusion texture in DXTBMP, otherwise the Font could be a lot nicer! PS these pics were blown up in MSPaint so some pixeling is there. Looks much better in game, but i wish GiMP was working.

So i gotta tweak the _O01.dds to line up with the white box which is part of the ship paint job. A dirty way of doing things but im satisfied with the result.

I even tried pinging both to find out the IP Address of both the legit site and this one, then editting my hosts file to redirect the crappy URL to the legit IP, but nothing =( As far as i can tell the page is harmless, it's just a generic randomized one, but christ it's a pain. Any news from Neal on your request to house boat images on SubSim ?

I had been away for a while and when I came back I brought Permit into port to do a mod update. While in port, Seadragon (Sargo/Salmon class) was substituted for Permit.

Whatever the answer from Neal, please know how much this work has been appreciated across the community.

Thats a shame. A mod like this adds a level of personal touch that we would all love. At the moment I am making my own battle flag. Nothing too fancy but just trying to work something together. Hope it ends well lmao:yeah:

When I ordered my boat, Digital Trucker was running the thread. It took a huge amount of time to handle all of the requests for boats, which were ongoing. I assume that is why the Kill Flags mod team ultimately disbanded.

Want you the Drum in SH4? What is your specific problem?

Please, search in the roster the list of boats, Class Balao for instance (if Drum is Balao, I think it isn´t) or the class of your sub, and delete all the boats except the Drum. Put the number one for the Drum, and you will have ever the Drum when select/promoted to Balao Class sub.

I have only Pampanito when play with Balao Class.

The file is in your SH4 folder\data\roster\american\submarine\SSBalao.cfg

Observe I put Unit 1 to the Pampanito, and I delete all the other subs names. Also, I changed the dates for availability.

If you use TMO, you can put an emblem in your sub. Of course, this is a "Fixed" emblem, it don´t change with your victories. See the "Sample Emblem" submod in the Documentation folder of TMO 2, and make your own emblems.

I want the kill flags mod, too. But it´s seems impossible now...:wah:

I use GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) to put battle flags and emblems on sub sides. You have to work with this image : NSS_BalaoTower_TO2A.dds. Found in Data-Textures-TNormal-tex. What you put on the Starboard side will mirror image on the Port side. Most numbers and letters there will be backward.

Thanks for the tip. I made my own emblems/battle flags with Sample Emblem of TMO 2. It seems only works with TMO 20/21 (and RSRDC with TMO).

No mirrors in the TMO emblem.

OK. Edit Sample Emblem with any image editor. I have the Pampanito emblem and Wahoo emblem and no mirrors.

Of course using this method is slightly long winded and results in mirrored conflicts on the port side, ok if you don't place boat No. There is a mod: TheBeastBelow_Exhaust_DecalPak_SH4_v1.5
which overcomes that problem but is somewhat confusing in it's instructions, (well is for me anyway). Good luck and bring back Killflags mod someone.

Have not used TMO only RFB, I believe TMO had its own utility for placing emblems/Killflags, see this tutorial :

The flag art was all edited in photoshop png's, and psd's, and then converted to sh4 skins. Once I get the original "Kill Flags Kit" art files back up there you guys will be all set.

The old site killflags.net's domain name expired and some jerk is now holding it hostage...

I'm in the process of moving the files ( that i thankfully saved to an old Harddrive ) and will post as soon as I get the site up.

Lil history:

Step 1: Go to http://www.battleflags.us/, click on "Download a Boat", find the skin for your specific boat and download it.

Step 2: Get a free image editing program like GIMP or Paint.net.

Step 3: Copy and paste the appropriate kill flags onto the NSS_GatoTower_T01.dds (or whatever class of boat you're working with), and make a duplicate of that same file for NSS_GatoTower_T02.dds.

Step 4: Install the mod with JSGME like usual.


While the original site doesn't appear to be up and running yet, I'm willing to help out and do a few killflags for people not comfortable with editing the dds files themselves. As long as the boat's base skin with the logo has already been made, that is.

Well,

I downloaded gimp and tried to do the ol' cut & paste with the dds files..........

When I went to save I got some error message stating something to the effect that the file was a volume map but (something) wasn't present.....

It then proceeded to save and when I opened it back up the only thing there was the flags I cut and pasted. No texture map of the tower....???

Any ideas?

The DDS files are mipmapped, so they have multiple layers, each one at half the resolution of the previous one. This is why it's saying it's a volume map - as it has multiple layers. Delete all but the top most layer before saving.

I have been trying for a week or so to figure out how to do this myself. I've watched the YouTube video which doesn't work for TMO 2.5.

I've got all the conning tower files copied and saved. Also I've got the kill flags saved both for merchants and warships in bars of one thru four flags. These are all in xcf format from GIMP. Problem now is I can't find any where how to convert the flags from xcf to dds format so I can stick them on the conning tower. Let me rephrase, so I can attempt to stick them on. Not much in this has gone smoothly so far.

The GIMP DDS plug in on the web is for GIMP 2.5. I've got GIMP 2.8 so you'd think if they put out a plug in for 2.5, it'd be incorporated in 2.8, but whenever I try to save-as, it won't offer me a dds option.

Sorry to be obtuse here:shifty:, but should I just get the plug-in for 2.5 & hope it works w/ 2.8?

OK; Privateer, we're getting there. I got the download and can now convert the GIMP images to dds and I've pasted the flags onto the P Class conning tower, NSS.PclassTower T01. Then reloaded the modified sub w/ JSGME. At first, I thought I'd failed again, but then noticed that there were two copies of the kill flag sheet pasted side by side inside the port side of the conning tower. This is progress of a sort, now all I need to do is figure out how to paste one of them on both sides of the outside of the tower.

I was able to get my hands on the DIY kit for battleflags thanks to s7rikeback's collection on mediafire, can someone give me a big red circle and an arrow pointing at where the flags go on my tower.dds? I've tried 3 putting them in 3 places now and can't seem to get it right.

EDIT: nvm i was able to find an old skin from rockin robbin and see an example for the balao class, im sure the tambor isn't that far off from this, gonna do some playing around to get it in just the right spot.
