Hello,

This is where you will find all mods that were either created by me and the alternative mods that were created by other modders to which I've either combined or altered in someway (permission given of course). You will not find the big mods like GWX here, but the more smaller eye candy & sound candy mods.



If the mod was not created by me, I will always inform you of this, and give as much credit to the original creator/s as they so deserve. I will inform you if I have used someone else's creation in two ways so as I can not be accused of stealing someone's mod and claiming it as solely mine alone. The 1st method will be via this thread. If I place a mod on here I will always give information in the form of "notes" just prior to the pictures or download link. the 2nd will be the read-me file attached within the download.



I've decided to combine my mods and the alternate mods that I use in my game so you can try out what I use just to see if it's to your liking.

ELITE U-BOAT UNIFORM - BLACK


I made this mod so that the U-boat crews in the Silent Hunter III PC game would look elite & professional. The items contained within this mod; are in my opinion, the best looking & most realistic.
A large majority of items contained in the mod were created by Fubar. I sought permission from him to alter & re-mod his uniforms. Fubar granted permission & Full credit goes to him for being the originator of the uniforms contained within this mod. I also tried to gain permission to use Knorad Krumm's white cap. I utilised PM, ICQ & email methods, but was unable to make contact with him to secure his permission. In his readme documentation it stated to give him credit if his cap was to be used in another mod.
I used Fubar’s uniforms as a base template (starting point); to create the Elite U-boat Uniform series. By incorporating this mod into your game, your crew will be wearing the best officers caps, schiffchen cap, deck gun & AA helmets, leather jackets, shirts, wet weather gear, boots, belts, belt buckles, buttons, German eagles, gloves, trousers, trouser clips, that BDU has to offer the Kriegsmarine U-boat service. Also included in this mod are the best faces, for both officers & enlisted sailors that I could find to merge into this mod
An additional uniform has been included in this mod; it is your own personnel U-boat commander uniform, complete with Konrad Krumm's white cap. Please remember that if you use the white cap, all officers posted to your U-boat will also wear the same coloured headdress.
This mod is 100% compatible with the GWX Expansion mod & all GWX patch upgrades.
This mod should be used in conjunction with JScones Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME).
This mod has the correct file structured pathway to be utilised with the above mentioned JScones software product.
This mod is zipped with WinRAR.
For best results, consider using my "Compulsory U-boat Headdress" mod. This can be located in my modding thread at Subsim.

THE OFFICER ICON

The mod replaces thoses officers who wear hats only. The officers will be universal in appearence, similiar to the universal subordinate crew members. Those officers that do not wear hats will remain the same.

This mod is compatible with CWX mod & has the correct file path structure to be used in conjunction with JSGME.

One question. can the Officer icons show a different face for eacn one? All the same makes it hard to tell them apart. And some poor woman has 5 identical sons in one U-boat as officers. I'd hate to see her lose all 5 at once. ;)

The Crew Mod


The files contained within were not created by me, this is what I use in the game.This mod is a combination of all the crew mods that have been created thus far by other modders. I downloaded them all looked at each file and combined the ones that I like. But for the main uniform I have done a little tinkering in the form of cutting/merging/re-colouring and re-texturing. I have not altered the helmet/wet weather gear/heads/caps/hats & hands because i think these are the best of all. This mod contains everything you need for you crew to look like the photo's below.
Evil jester 76, saw this crew and asked to have a look at it so here it is. Remeber this mod is not new, but its what I use in my game.
This mod is compatible with GWX mod.

You can enable anything with JSGME, as long as it has the correct folder structure. Like "Crew Mod/Data/Crew ..."

You can enable anything with JSGME, as long as it has the correct folder structure. Like "Crew Mod/Data/Crew ..."

Tuddley3 is correct, I will never put a mod on here that does not have direct folder structure. All modders must cater both for the experienced and not so experienced members with regards to using mods. All mods that I put here I use with the JSGME and GWX, so if it works for me then I would be very surprised if it wasen't the same for you.

I agree with your comments, however it was impossible to find the same type of officer icon which would look the same. So I decided to keep the tradition of universal appearence. I would have prefered to have different faces and not have five officer sons, but when you look at the subordinates well, I now think there all related.

It says if I enable this mod it may have adverse affects on my game.

Either you de-activate the GWX-No Medals on Crew Mod which you probably don't want to do, or you delete the file that contains the medals in my mod. I don't play with that option activated ie "GWX-No Medals on Crew Mod", so that one got under the radar.
If you don't know the file path for the medals in my mod this is the file structure pathway;

EDIT: I did what you told me and erverything worked fine; I didn't get this error message. When I get back home I have to launch the game to see if it worked.

Professional & Elite Crew Mod Amendment



My good friend "Marinenachrichtendienst" informed me that there was an emblem fault with the first version of the flak & deck gun helmet in the Professional & Elite Crew Mod. He was very helpful about the explanation of the error of the emblem. So to that end, and not wanting a crappy mod given to you; the members, I went hunting for a helmet that I saw some time ago which was the best helmet colour and emblem that I had seen on this forum. The search for the holy grail of deck & flak gunner helmet lead me to one person yet again........."Fubar". I wanted to use this helmet originally for my own enjoyment, but didn't know who created it and where the location was. But because "Marinenachrichtendienst" has a similar attitude to me, I couldn't let this fester, it was leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I have now updated the Professional & Elite Crew Mod to now include the new helmet.

I would like to thank "Fubar" for making the helmet, and "Marinenachrichtendienst" for his knowledge & help.

I think this helmet is heaps better, because is complements the black & grey of the uniform, but that's my little tiny opinion.

Remember this was a mod that I using for my own gaming experience & I got a request from "Evil Jester 76" to have a closer look the crew, so I want to make it very clear that I was not the creator, I've only re-textured/cut/merged/coloured the crews files to make a uniform that made my crew look......um oh ah..........ELITE !

I hope this hasn't inconvenienced members of the forum. :oops:

TACTICAL GREEN

I would like to thank Sober for coming up with the original concept of the green coloured texture.
This mod changes the following from white to green;

Side slide icons,
GWX intergrated orders, and
Text.

Your selection will be in orange text. (nominating a U-boat commander that u created)

This mod has the correct file structure path.

This mod is to be used with the Generic Mod Enabler. Please note that when you activate the mod enabler the following message will appear if you are using GWX Intergrated Orders;


MainOrders.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Orders1.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Orders2.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.

It's fine to activate The Tactical Green Mod because only the colour will change.This will not cause damage to the files.

Great work with the green tint, certainly looks good - I'll download this and give it a try (mid-patrol right now, so very soon...).

On another note, I would like to have your watch officer on my boat - do you have the download link for the alternate officer? - I've tried a couple in the past and they didn't work.

This skin is compatible with the GWX mod. Please ensure you use the Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME). This mod has been created with the correct file path structure for the use of the JSGME. This skin is in DAT file format.
This U-Boat was skinned by Venatore.
Special thanks to Pirate, for uploading the original U-Boat skins to the Subsim forum for all to use.
Please do not quote this post as it will double the pictures and forum members that have dial up modem's will have difficulty loading the thread.

Introduction Music

This mod replaces the Menu_Master LOOP OOG file, which is the music file that you hear during the games introduction sequence.
This mod is compatible with GWX mod.
This mod is file structured for JSGME (mod enabler).
The music you hear is from the 1969 movie "Where Eagles Dare". Hence the name change for this mod.

COMBAT RADIO FREQUENCY

Listen to your fellow Luftwaffe and German ground troops advancing on allied postions !
The mod contains one - 23 minute audio file (OOG), for the gramophone folder.
This mod should be used in conjunction with my "Internal U-Boat Sound Effect" amb_SubmarineInterior.wav file for best effect.
In this audio file you will hear the following;1. German Luftwaffe fighter pilots,
3. German Ground troops,
4. Scanning of the frequencies, and
5. Morse code.

This mod is compatible with GWX and patch 1.02.
This mod has the correct file pathway structure to be used with JSGME (mod enabler).

For the IL2 gamers, you will hear some fimiliar sounds.
I did not create the sounds, but It was my idea to use this file that was initially used in IL2 to now use it in SH3 and I did blend all 9 files together to make the file longer.Images

The Combat Radio Frequency is being amended due to the recording process being corrupted. There was unwanted background noise that made the file unsatisfactory. The new file will be up shortly, I apologize to those forum members who downloaded the 1st file.

Thanks mate, my two favourite war games is Silent Hunter III and IL2 series. I like them foe to reason the amount of modding you can do to both games and the game play style.

Iam not sure if you made some misstake whit your seafloor mod.

The pictures you provided in your post does not reflect how it looks in game.

I DL your seafloor mod and to my suprise i saw the that file you had provided was nearly exactly the same as the one i have done.

I find them quite similar.

I released this file as a stand alone in Seafloor SF V2 and also in the final release Seafloor SF V3

So i read your readme file and you had wrote:

But i guess you have mixed up the 2 files from the one you created and the one i created when you put this up for download coz like i said. The seafloor does not look the same at all from how it show up ingame and the pictures you provided.


i dont mind if people use thos few mods i do but i prefer you had included that it was a mod made by me. ;)

Kpt:Lehman Asked for my permission to use this in next GWX update and of course i approved to it.

But maybe its a pure misstake from your side. Ive done such misstake my self before when i released a damage texture file, and one of the files was not created by me so i deleted the dl link and and felt quite ashamed for the misstake.

Public Apology to Vikinger

To all the members of this forum I would like to publicly apologize to Vikinger for having his seafloor tga in the mod that I released in this thread. He has kindly brought it to my attention, which horrified me to the bone.

I used Vikinger's tga to find the file pathway so I could create a seafloor mod. As you can see the pictures I uploaded don't match the tga that are contained in the download link. I immediately withdrew the link and amended it with the correct tga file.

I did not mention Vikinger in the post or the readme file because I did not use any part of his original seafloor in the one that I had made, as mentioned above; his mod was used to find the tga location within the SH3 folders only (I still stand by this decision).

But as for Vikinger's tga being in the upload, this is totally unacceptable, I'm embarrassed that this occurred, and I sit here before you all not happy with the situation. I have always given credit where credit is due, but for the person who originally made the mod, this would not make you have a warm and fuzzy feeling to see your mod in someone else’s mod to which they are claiming full ownership of........well I think I would want to take that person for some dead ground counselling.

Vikinger mentioned that the same thing had happened to him, but when it happens to you, well you just feel clumsy in your modding ability.

Vikinger I 'am truly sorry, this will not happen again.

I use the Last Post bugle call when I have lost one of my crew. I wait till sunset surface the boat, bring the dead crewman up onto the deck, I say the last rights as the captain of the U-boat, members of the crew come up and say a final farewell, I then turn to Fritz who is a talanted bugle player and we stand in silence as the Last Post is played. The crew lowers his body to the depth of the ocean for an internal voyage. Rest in peace my friend.

Thanks mate, my two favourite war games is Silent Hunter III and IL2 series. I like them foe to reason the amount of modding you can do to both games and the game play style.

Can you beef them up or replace with something better? I like to hear a good takatakatak sound when surfaced..

Although the sound is much lesser if you are a gwx user. Venatores sound files does not change every sound file.
But i think this will be adressed in next gwx update.

I have changed the sound my self by using sh3 minitweaker and beefed up the volume a bit in the file Sh3_sdl file. I also changed some doppler effect for airplanes.
Every time a plane flew over me it sounded like an pissed bee and when it passed me the sound changed so i thought it was a B52 that had passed :)

To much pitch and doppler effect in it.

Either delete the sounds from my mod that you don't like, which will use the orginial sounds or you can right click on the sounds and re-adjust the sound level.

I using the off the record sound of Venatore atm, but still it isnt what I want.
Need something louder, and a more takatakat idea on it, if you get my drift.

Player should be anxious due the sound of the diesels to sneak into a convoy.

I tried myself, with a good file, but SH3 gaves strange effects.. I couldnt get it to loop without pauses..

It was from www.sounddogs.com, a lot of uboat sounds there, just listen to it, and rip from the temp inet folder.

With regards to the "Black & Copper Torpedo's", that was one of my first mods that I made. As you see I don't host it at my filefront account & the other only place that you will find it is at UBRS, which if I had my way I would remove it.

The "Black & Copper Torpedo" mod leaves a bad taste in my mouth which I would rather forget & I coulden't be brothered digging up past skeltons :dead:. The "Black & Copper Torpdeo" mod is in GWX (which are not my eels) so if you have that mod then I would use the GWX.

I still use my own "Black & Copper Torpedo" mod for my enjoyment, which is an improvement on the orginial, if you don't have the GWX mod and you still want these eels then I will host it here, just let me know.

Well, I use your Black and Coppers and it was infact my first mod addition!
I Like them and have since re-installed several times and they get put in
right off the bat!

I run 2 installs by the way.

My GWX which I haven't messed with, and my "Screw it up till it CTDs!" install.

If you don't mind I'll keep using them and I have them stored away on my 160 gig
External drive.

Years ago, when Quake was the big deal, I did a lot of mods,
ran my own ISP that had 4 Quake servers, and hosted mods.
I still, to this day wish I had kept all that stuff.
I now burn everything to cd and dvd after awhile because,
it may pass away but deserves to be remembered.
Once remembered, it's always great to be able to pull it out
from time to time.

This is my second rendition of the Black & Copper Torpedo's. I have re-textured & re-coloured the body.

This mod is compatible with GWX & JSGME.

This mod covers all the torpedo variants.
The idea for the black & copper was not mine, but let me make it very clear that I claim this mod as my own work. I released the original mod to the public along time ago because the orignator refused to do so. I'm sorry that I had to bring this up but I'm covering my arse on this one.

No problem, but why should it be illegal to remove the logos from the splash screen? The ame still remains SH3... If this would be illegal, modding itself would be illegal too I think...

The only problem I had with the crew uniforms was for all my officers. They al look alike now. Number one that is creepy!!!! Number 2 they all look like they are different age version of the same guy. Did I download the wrong thing? I wanted the black shirts and grey pants not the one that made the capped officers...anyway, did I download the wrong thing?

No you didn't download the wrong mod.
The elite crew mod makes the crew wear the same uniform. As for the faces of the officers I went with the most realistic on the forum. If you don't like the faces just download a nother face mod and transfer the faces. :up:

Unzip the downloaded folder
Copy the folder called The_Map_Mod to the mods folder which can be found here.
My Computer/Program Files/Ubisoft/Sh3/Mods
Then click on the JSGME icon
Then clcik on the mod
Then click on the arrow point to the installed mods and there you go all installed to uninstall just click on the mod and click on the arrow pointing the other way.
Make sure you are in post have have rolled back Sh3 Commander before installing :up:

If you didn't know, "Win RAR" is another zip software, this allows more varied zips to occour.

This mod replaces the skin for the VIIC U-Boat varient.
I used Konrad Krum VIIC Skin as my skin template, (I was unable to contact this forum member to ask permission, he/her has not been to the forum for sometime. I sent a forum PM & ICQ message asking permission, I nevered recieved a reply).
I also incorperated/merged some U-Boat files from Fubar skins which I sought permission a while back.
I have re-textured/re-coloured the entire U-Boat upper/lower body.
I have merged internal dials to the conning tower dial compartments.
I have retextured/re-coloured the antanna, radar and snorkel.
I have re-coloured/re-textured the AA guns and the 88mm deck gun.
I have inserted/re-textured compartment lids along the entire deck.
I have inserted bolts throughout the outer shell of the U-Boat.
I have added a german eagle to the BBC box in the conning tower.
I have inserted engine vents on the deck.
INFACT THERE IS JUST TOO MANY ADDED EXTRA'S TO LIST; HAVE A LOOK FOR YOURSELF !
This file mod is compatible with GWX and GWX patch upgrades.
This mod has the correct file structure pathway to be compatible with JSGME.
This mod is zipped with WinRAR.
Please do not quote this post due to there being alot of pictures.

Hi Munson,

I'm sorry mate but there is no way to disable it, I tried as hard as I could to make that particular sound file 90% low level back ground noise. In the army when we conduct ambush training and there are 28 men lying in wait to destory the enemy, it is totally impossible to keep those 28 men quiet ie; coughing, farting, sneezing, whispering and SNORING ! now add the number to 53-58 men add a few DDs I think the noise in that U-Boat would be......um......SHUT UP YOU LOT !

With regards to the white cap, This comes with the "Elite Uniform Crew" mod that is in this drive through. If you use the white cap option, all officers will be wearing the white cap. Modders have attempted to make only the conning tower officer wear the white cap only to let the X-Wing fall back into the swamp. So in short at this stage the anwser is no.

What that does is gives you the option of having your officers wear the white cap, I know it was only the captain, but if you wanted to take screen shots with a white cap on board the conning tower then the option is there for you.

I tried these two again without luck, but then I shut down my firewall temporarily, and that worked! I got both the mods in question. :up: Funny though, because all your other items d/l earlier with the firewall in place. Ah, just another twist of the wacky computer world!

I am having download problems with the Black & Copper Torpedoes. FileFront's giving me corruption in the download constantly. :damn::damn::damn:

Edit: By the way, Ven, can I please have your permission to modify and/or experiment with your "Atlantic Workhorse" skins? I am not looking for money.

TACTICAL GREEN

I would like to thank "Sober" for coming up with the original concept of the green coloured texture.
This mod changes the following from white to green;

Side slide icons,
GWX intergrated orders, and
Text.

Your selection will be in orange text. (nomiating a U-boat commander that u created)

This mod has the correct file structure path.

This mod is to be used with the Generic Mod Enabler. Please note that when you activate the mod enabler the following message will appear if you are using GWX Intergrated Orders;


MainOrders.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Orders1.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Orders2.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Orders3.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
Shortcuts.tga" has already been altered by the "GWX - Integrated Orders" mod.
It's fine to activate The Tactical Green Mod because only the colour will change.This will not cause damage to the files.

Venatore, I tried this mod, however without the GWX Integrated Orders (which I don't like to use)...but it gives all messed up icons. No surprise there, as you warned for it.

But is there a way, to have this TacticalGreen for the regular GWX-icons?
I really like the idea! Sometimes, the bright white icons are to much during night-raids.

What I'm thinking of doing is having three different types;
1. Tactical Green (the current mod)
2. Tactical Green V2 - a varient that has just the normal GWX order icons and no intergrated icons
3. Tactical Green V3 - The complete package (new improved.)

Its all about choices for members. I'll update the orginal post which will contain all three varients. I will let everyone know by announcing in here vit post ie NEW UPDATED TACTICAL GREEN ! or somthing like that.

Once again I thankyou very much for your debrief points.

Just one point though, if you a problem with one of my mods or somthing is bugging you about my mod/s and you have a solution to make it better please post your concerns in this thread. I only found that some members were not happy with the map by reading other members threads. I will always take your concerns/requests very seriously (I will never ingore you feedback). I'm here for you and to make your gaming experence more enjoyable.

Concerning the feedback appearing in another thread, I wasn't aiming to report a fault with your original map mod - I actually assumed that the issue with the line colour was purely because I was using stock SH3 whilst it seems most are using GWX or NYGM. I thought that the line colour was probably different in those mods, hence it not being an issue for anybody else!

When I tried your original mod I was rigged for silent running - hadn't registered on the forums at the time so didn't comment :ping:

Again, thanks for the extra effort to update your mod following our comments :up:

I wonder how perfect that game can be!

Only one thing about the map mod. I suggest that the drawed lines and the numbers that show up on the map, especially douring night, should be darker (probaly black) as they cannot be easily distinguished!

I've just got my head around "DAT files and extracting "TGA" files, but now there are other strange files, finding where they store all the sound files (machine gun, engine, explosions etc etc) is a real struggle. Unable to locate at this time.

Very few things can be modded in IL-2: aircraft and pilot skins, medals, splash screens, music, speech, radio chatter and maybe some other minor things. Other things (3D models, flight models, sound, effects) are encrypted.

Some guys have hacked the .sfs files (these should be the vault where valuable data are kept) and done some amazing modding, but I believe it's illegal (or at least might be illegal in some countries) unless you keep it for yourself.

Well I don't think that it does much though. The qualifications for the sailors are just cosmetic I think. With petty officers only the first one added works. And with Officers its the firs 3 I think.
