Your selection will be in orange text. (nominating a U-boat commander that u created)

I'd like to know about GWX2 compatibility with some mods. Tactical Green seems to (if I recall correctely) alter the 1024 menu ini file and I'm gonna guess that the new GWX has also tweaked this.

Maybe a list of GWX 2 safe and non-safe mods from you Ven would be a good idea.

Every mod I make is compatible with GWX. I've stated many many times that I use a clean install with only the latest GWX version as the foundation, nothing else. I also inform everyone both on the mod thread page that the mod is compatible with GWX and also you'll find it again in the readme file contained within the download.

You ask that maybe I should let members know about compatibility of my mods related to GWX, I think that's more than enough information.

Heaps of members have been caught out by saying "hey Ven" is this U-boat skin fictitious, or is that camouflage scheme authentic, or is this compatible and all I say is "please read the writing that I have supplied with the mod".

Once again my friend, "please read the writing that I have supplied with the mod" ;)

I was just curious since many mods predate GWX2 and saying GWX compatible and GWX2 compatible could be a distinction as simply 'GWX compatible' could be a remnant from a pre-GWX2 era instead of being part of a fully updated readme.

Was just curious, no mischief intended. But I wasn't sure if you updated your mods for compatibility with the latest mega-mod releases. Its one thing to talk about your most recent releases, thats assumed, but its quite another for assuming it with older Venatore releases, especially if you only mention the term 'GWX' without the suffix '2'.

Again just trying to clarify is all. I've been away from the community a bit since the release of GWX2 so I am not as fully aware as others.

99% of my mods are just audio, skins, or colour re-textures which have no dire effects to any major mega mods that were/are released, you could brand me with being a boring bland modder, as my modding skills are very basic I'm unable to create mods that delve into file object making i.e. introducing new U-boat models, ships, land objects, sea ports, wreaks, light house, buoys, gun emplacement & ocean/weather characteristics

This mod was requested by "CapZap1970". He wanted his crew to wear a complete set of brown uniforms.
This mod is dedicated to my good friend "CapZap1970". I tried so hard to take his requested mod to the next level. I've added the dirty look to make his crew look like they have gone to hell and back.

Every crew member is different from the oil on their faces, hands, pants, shirts & jackets.

This mod is 100% compatible with the GWX Expansion mod & all GWX patch upgrades.
This mod should be used in conjunction with JScones Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME).
This mod has the correct file structured pathway to be utilised with the above mentioned JScones software product.

I SAW the Atlantic Wolf



[I]It all happened so quickly, no warning, no sound of the stalking beast approaching our convoy. As the moon disappeared behind slow moving sleek clouds the Atlantic Wolf made its move.It was only a glancing shadow, low, fast and on the prowl, I was thrown into the water from the massive blast which sunk our merchant ship within seconds, as I surfaced and clung to floating debris I saw the wolf pass me by, evil, calculating and unremorseful, then it vanished into the mist. I was the only person who SAW the Atlantic Wolf that night. The image of that German Atlantic Wolf will remain with me till I die.

The Malamute is one of the most adaptable dogs alive, able to live in extreme hot and cold conditions, but prefer cold for very obvious reasons. I live in Brisbane, which at times the humidity hovers around 85% - 95% with a combined temp of around 28-38 degrees. I have to remain very watchful of tic's, snakes and the good old cain-toads.

Since having our girl we have lived in extreme cold yucky snow conditions and now reside in Brisbane, Montana loves the Army lifestyle, a new backyard every three years or so. we head on our walks/runs everyday of about 5km, she is an ex-sled Malamute so she knows what power is all about.

She is my official SHIII mascot;

I have created this music tribute for Subsim member “Nikimcbee” who lost his dear companion “Niki McBee”, the official Boston Terrier for Subsim on the 17th March 2008. I was devastated by this news, as I too share my life with one of god’s gifts [the dog].

The tribute music contained in this download is a favorite theme of mine, and it is intended to remind us how wonderful these beautiful companions are.
A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in the entire world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Wow, I'm speechless. Thanks a lot. That's really nice. He was a great dog. It was really weird that first night he was gone, not jumping on the bed and sleeping under the blanket, not barking when I opened the door, not sitting by me when I was on the computer. That's why this whole thing has been some painful for me, whereever I went, he usually followed.

This mod would be compatible with 2.1 because its just a audio file, no file structure changes were made to the game so it shouldn't cause any drama's with compatibility.

Hi Ven, are your Elite Binoculars only compatible with GWX. I have WAC, and I don't see them in game. When I try to look at the tga file, all I see is a black window. Very strange. I've tried deleting it and redownloading it, and same problem.

Hi matey, the "Elite Bino's" are only a texture TGA, so It's strange that they would not be seen. The only thing I can think of; is if there is another mod that you have placed over the "Elite Bino" mod. All I did for that mod was enhance the textures and re-colour the TGA file, so it would work for any mega mods.

Hello Venatore i am a new sub rider only finding out about SH3 by chance but WoW im hooked so why do in now come out into the open...:sunny: give me 5mins and i will tell you. at this time i am patrolling AN17 in the most pleasing machine of all time so what is it you ask well here are the stats.... GWX2.1, VIIC42, Type VIIB/2 Turn Fitted with two C/38 Flakwilling guns, Sporting a Torp Loadout of 17 type 3 and 10 type 9 Torps at the front and 7 type 9 Torps at the rear ok you say so whats so good......

(1) GWX VIIC42 is skined with your Atlantic workhorse skin IV ...... A 5 Star Or A++++ skin the best i have ever seen.:up:

(2) ok you say so why the VIIB/2 Turn ?:|\\ ..... well Thats easy Raceboys Flags and Pennant Mod The German navy flag at the top and my subs flag below.:o

:|\\ so why those Eels and so many...... they are to kick some warships asses

then came Elite U-boat NCO uniforms ...BANG...all too much to chew in one go,:yep:

How are you matey? with regards to the U-boat interior textures it's a slow process, every bolt, nut, screw, panel board, floor panel, box, tin, dial, leaver, bulb, bulb cover, book, picture, bed, cup, plate, labels, ladder, seat, instrument panel is getting a over haul,

There will be things that you will never notice, the only way would be to free cam it around the entire internal U-boat to appreciate the mod.

I'm checking all variants to see if there are any faults and I'm finding many, slowly, but surely it's moving forward.

As well as this mod there are still 30 unfinished mods on the assembly line, each of them at varying stages, the one I'm about to release has taken me about 2 months, because I had to look for everything on the net and almost every place asked for money.

But; the Venatore achieve the desired effect at 275 megs its taking a bit to upload.

I know many would be getting angry at the slowness of the interior textures; but please understand that I will not release a sub-standard mod to the community.

I will keep uploading pictures of development as this can be a source of letting members know that the mod is on track and not forgotten.

and also i would like to say the XXXI U-boat skin2 is just pure PORN. i have log-on quite a few times now and i am alway plesed to see that Silent Hunter 3 still has more readers Than Silent hunter 4 i played 4 for a while but it dose not have the holding power of 3 its a shame they didnt make a updated version of Silent hunter 3 using some diffrent subs as seen on Mod pages and allow you to mix and match to what you want. GXW is Dam good but i dont use it because they have taken away the coloured contacts for me this is not a good thing so now i use Sea Wolves 2.1 modded with GWX parts i like and mixed mods so please keep up the good work as i will not be useing Silent Hunter 4 I'm staying with the best SILENT HUNTER 3 with Humbled thanks i sign off .......Message Ends

lol, no, but being that a substantial amount of people on these forums are nuts and bolts counters, I thought it would add that much more authenticity if you had put in the recordings by Furtwangler and the Berlin Philharmonic (check out youtube for vids of him performing Beethoven's ninth during WWII on a stage flanked by huge swastika flags...). FYI, Furtwangler did not personally support the Nazis and cared nothing for politics (according to him), but was criticized for remaining in Germany and continuing to conduct under Hitler.

Crash Dive!
20m, 30m, 40m, 50m & 60m depths!

Ever been caught on the surface by the enemy?* Destroyer steaming out of the fog?
* Aircraft descending from the sun?
* Merchants that you thought was unarmed?

You’ve been discovered, the enemy has got you in his sights, vital seconds are passing and in your haste and panic you scream out "Crash Dive”!
As you secure the conning tower hatch you immediately realize that your in shallow water and your on a one-way hellish decent to the ocean floor at flank speed, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!
By employing one of five separate crash dive settings, you are able to take ownership of your U-boat's "Crash Dive" depth. You can now have your U-boat "Crash Dive" sequence set to a depth of either 20m, 30m, 40m, 50m and or 60m. The default GWX depth was 70m.
Once you are at your new adjusted “Crash Dive” depth, you are able to tactfully commence maneuvers, it’s your choice to increase the depth manually or remain at your current depth.
The risk of damage from hitting the ocean floor is now reduced; especially the U-boat captains who like to hunt a few miles off the coast.
Just select/extract one of the depth mods and place it into the JSGME.
You are only able to use on specific depth only.
This mod is compatible with GWX 2.1
This mod covers all U-boat variants.
This mod is structured to be used in conjunction with the JSGME.
This mod is zipped with WinRAR.

hi Venatore I have been playing SH3 using Tomi_099 new VIIC 41 but there seems to be a problem with it if you approch any type of ship at periscope depth they can see you i dont know why this is but i nearly got shot to bits by a warship using his guns while i was at periscope depth in calm seas i had time to raise the periscope to see if anything was showing above the water but i could not see anything:hmm: the year was 1940 i dont think the new sub is useable :nope: and it looks so good too:damn: :damn: any type of ship including merchants can see you from a distance 2 to 3,000 metres just like if you where a on the surface

I haven't yet had a go with this new beast, It does come with "Sensors" which may be the cause. I'll do some testing this week and if I find the same thing we may have to make a joint effort to informing "Tomi_099".

This is concerning about them seeing you at that distance. I'll check his files against the standard VIIC variant.

I HEARD A RUMOUR!

Rumours says the boys at the 11th Flotilla based out of Bergen are getting a new winter camouflage scheme for their VIIC variants. I heard at the Officers Mess its because they have been task to seek out and close with the Russian convoys to the North, I was told alot of these convoys are using the Iceberg fields to remain undetected.

Apparently the Winter Camouflage Scheme looks superb... but lets see what the crews here think first before we get all excited.

One of the Officers who was up at Bergen for leave actually took a photo of U-657 commanded by Korvettenkapitän Heinrich Göllnitz departing for a war patrol, rumours have it that U-657 is heading to the hunting grounds to destroy the enemy Russian convoys.

Damn the weather conditions around that area would be horrendous...ice, wind, rain, freezing cold days and nights, rough seas...I would hate to be them.

My friend said he has sent the picture in the mail [express] so it should arrive today..I'll head down to the post office now...............

Ven, I hope you won't mind if I say I love your style! I have been "driving through" a couple of your mods over the last few days but I haven't had time to actually test them all in-game yet, although I did try and absolutely love your "Elite Binoculars" and "Sea Floor II" so far. I'm looking forward to trying your new canoe skin soon but this latest VIIC looks incredible. I really apreciate your artistic eye for good camera angles and lighting when taking extra time to do your screens and artistic touches (like say, your intro artwork) too. Most of all I love your stories to get us "immersed" into the game even more; it's like you created a time machine!!!! I think I can safely say that SHIII without a Venatore mod is like being in your favourite art gallery and having pinkeye or some condition where you can't see the great works properly. Or how about like visiting a WWII museum or on board an old battleship without that certain unique "musty atmosphere" you always seem to get? Without it, it is a cold sterile place with no "character". You've made Subsim such a good read for me lately that I'm thinking if you aren't already on Onkel's payroll then you bloody well should be. :|\\

I love your style!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I use a completely different Type VIIC to all the other modders, I use only mat colouring in all my mods, and even I've noticed a certain style to my work, which is what I think I was striving for, basically if someone sees a U-boat skin I would hope they would say "Hey that's a Venatore Skin for sure".

I did try and absolutely love your "Elite Binoculars" and "Sea Floor II"

Now this put a smile on my face. It's an area that I think gets over looked with many modders when delivering their mods to the members. Sometimes my screen shots can take longer to get right than the mod itself. What has helped me to achieve alot of good shots is the ability to now walk around on the out side of the U-boat. Correct lighting and where the sun is positioned is the overall factor when taking a screen shot, too many modders take shots on the dark side of the U-boat which the end result is a dark blob of U-boat silhouette.

Most of all I love your stories to get us "immersed" into the game even more;
I call this wetting the appetite.

You've made Subsim such a good read for me lately that I'm thinking if you aren't already on Onkel's payroll then you bloody well should be.

Here is the picture of U-657 from the 11th Flotilla Bergen, this picture depicts her conducting crash action drills whilst on the surface. Her role is to seek out and close with Russian Convoys in and amongst the "Iceberg Fields", hence her new camouflage scheme.

VIIC Atlantic Workhorse Skin V
The Russian Convoy Killer

This mod replaces the skin for the VIIC U-Boat varient.
I used Konrad Krum VIIC Skin as my skin template, (I was unable to contact this forum member to ask permission, he/her has not been to the forum for sometime. I sent a forum PM & ICQ message asking permission, I nevered recieved a reply).
I also incorperated/merged some U-Boat files from Fubar skins which I sought permission a while back.
I have re-textured/re-coloured the entire U-Boat upper/lower body.
I have merged internal dials to the conning tower dial compartments.
I have retextured/re-coloured the antanna, radar and snorkel.
I have re-coloured/re-textured the AA guns and the 88mm deck gun.
I have re-textured the compartment lids on the deck.
I have re-textured the GHC microphone array (port & starboard).
This mod is compatible with GWX and GWX patch upgrades.
This mod has the correct file structure pathway to be compatible with JSGME.
This mod is zipped with WinRAR.

Hey, I just heard that U-755 of the 9th Flotilla at Brest has a new "night surface attack camouflage", I'll jump on the train and head across there to have a look, I'll take the camera as I know the captain of this particular boat really well, his name is Kapitänleutnant Walter Göing, he will have no drama's in letting me take some pictures of his boat.

I know for a fact his has been one of the leading U-boat commanders that have used the night surface attack tactic successful, with the sinking of two French combat vessels.

I'll be back soon with some pictures....

You have to remember that he cannot make all the decisions here.

Everything has to pass thru a lot of moderators before becoming approved.
