Default [REL] IJN Type13 radar fix 2.0

http://mpgtext.net/subshare/544IJN%2...0fix%202.0.rar

IJN Type13 Radar Fix Version 2.0

This is a non-critical update that adds more specific radar configuration date ranges to the IJN.

LukeFF is about 90% reponsible for the added warship data. Thanks!

It simply moves the start/stop dates for Type 21 vs Type22 radars around on IJN warships. Some have type 21 sets quite early, this will mitigate the loss of radar on the DDs early in the war, be wary of TFs. The only escort changed by this is the subchaser---they get radar now in 1944. Watch out!

Complementary Yugumo DD mod
This mod adds a new DD (a variant Asashio) that has radar earlier in the war. It is a stand-in for the Kagero and Yugumo DDs (a few) that actually got surface search radar fairly early in the war. Applying this mod will result in 1 in 7 "GENERIC DD" calls in missions to be replaced with radar capable versions (assuming the date is right). In all other respects a normal Asashio (Yugumo was an improved Kagero which was an improved Asashio). It's really to keep you on your toes early war. (Typo fixed, thanks, GerritJ9!)

IJN Type13 Radar Fix Version 1.0
Problem addressed:

The Japanese Type 13 Air Search radar has a bug in SH4. It functions as a SURFACE search radar.

This mod removes the type 13 from japanese shipping. It also modifies some of the dates when later surface radar becomes available. IN addition, in many cases I have changed the Type 21 they tend to get, with the more common Type 22 most actually recieved.

The Type13 can be modded via a tweak file, but franly the air radar means just about nothing to the game for AI ships.

In addition, all the sampans had a German FUMO23 radar installed that I removed!

The fishing boats had radar as well. Yeesh.

This version will result in almost no escorts with radar befor late 1944. In reality, a few ships (Kagero and Yagumo Class mostly that I know for sure) got radar far earlier. Asashio is our stand-in for Kagero/Yagumo. This version will be "vanilla" and I will shortly release another version that will add a Yagumo Class DD that will be set up with Type 22 radar in 1942. Since that will result in 7 DD types, the chances for a radar equipped DD will then be 1 in 7 between mid 42 and late 44 vs 0 in 6. Given a campaign with mostly named DDs in groups, obviously the campaign builder will decide. I might also do a few eqp changes to "Yagumo" to make her more interesting (dumping a TT mount late in the war in favor of a triple AA mount, etc---whatever is historically correct for that type that is easy to mod in).

I posted a "Yagumo" DD mod. It's stand alone and can be installed on top of this one.

Ah! Looks like you already posted this in Mods. I guess this is the one with the fixed FUMOs too?

This is a must-have!

Thanks Tater!

What were the devs trying to do with that? :hmm:

Tater, thanks for this work, but have you checked to make sure that the SEAGULLS don't have radar too????

Nice catch, tater.

I never would have thought of checking the sampans! Plus there are others too.

My bug fix of borking the type 13 radar wouldn't have fixed the sampans with their german radar sets! Sneaky devs

Now I know why the airplanes always seem to find me. Those darn sampans had radar! That wasn't very fair... the sampans could see you with radar but your radar didn't pick them up!
Was it actually radar they had or just a radar detector?

Fishing boats had radar, sampans had FUMO23 which I think is designed to aid in gun laying.

With LukeFF's research help, I will release a version soon with the dates dialed in better for all IJN ships he managed to get data for (basically the dates when they got type 21 or 22 radars).

OK, getting 2.0 ready.

No critical issues will change, stuff that shouldn't have any radar was in 1.0. The type 13s were all done in 1.0. 2.0 will add many more ships to the list (thanks, LukeFF for all the research!), but the changes will just be in the start/stop dates for the Type21 and Type22 sets. A few larger ships got radars way before SH4 gives them the appropriate set, so while the escorts won't spot you, their charges WILL, so I expect them to send the dogs after you, be wary of TFs

I need to do a few more things and zip it up.

This mod should be fine with TM, BTW, just install it after TM. (unless ducimus changed any other sensors...)

Updated to 2.0 on front page.

Thanks LukeFF, that's a ton of reading!
