Default Sync saves / Empty patrol.

Hello, I have two questions, I hope you don't mind...this is a rather old game, my google-fu might be dated.

1- I cannot seem to disable the savegame syncing (I turned the option OFF in Uplay, but the sync is still there). I will move my savegames, but it is tedious.

2- I am on my 5th patrol (Twos), I have been between Iceland and Skagerak, didn't find any taskforce... and actually found nothing at all so far except a few destroyers and trailers (I am now back at the main convoy entry route west of Scotland)... nothing, nada, zilch. I dive at about every 40 km and listen in. Is this normal or have I run into a bug?

2-b (optional, desperate question) - Can I rely on my sonarman to do quick dives and checks at TC32 or do I have to do it manually every time?

Thank you!

you should "be more agressive"... Send occasional status reports and check latest radio contact reports in your cpt log. Also, use radio contact reports range filters in GUI's upper right corner... The traffic will come, eventually...

AI sonar men will work just fine even with maximum TC...Dive deeper while searching for traffic to increase hydro range...

Of course, my answers are only valid if you have installed the game and the mod according to install instructions and you haven't messed up something with unsuported mods...
Cheers!

Thank you!

I wasn't aware the sitrep was that effective, the contact reports I get are most exclusively been at inconvenient distances to say the least, I have now lowered that to 200kms.

The mods are running fine, just Twos with a few supported addons. I do the manual save dance too.

Hi Saintaw
Try patrolling a rectangular box above Loch Ewe as AMC's and Troopships are based there.
Dive to 30 metres and the Sonar Man will report any contacts.
If you are too close to the port he will pickup the Escorts guarding the entrance.
I would suggest maybe 50km away.
Some ships will come out and head due North while others head diagonally NNW.

If you play off line your game will still show as being synced.
You will be offered to use your own saved games rather than the synced cloud saves.

Theberbster, what would I do without you?

I'm currently left of Scotland, right above Northern Ireland, I'll head back east to where you mentioned, I found little cargo here, but plenty of destroyer task forces (I think I saw about eight different destroyers in my scope at the same time, we all stayed very quiet). No dice on the convoy route so far, maybe it's still too early (Early Jan 40).

Noted about putting Uplay offline, thank you.

I found an AMC about half way between Iceland and the Faroe Islands in very early Jan 40. Sank it and that satisfied the intercept task force requirement.

I must be doing something wrong, there are little to no cargo in this area either.

I am patrolling the funnel north of Loch Ewe, there is supposed to be a route there that leads to Reykjavík. I found a lone light merchant and sunk it with joy, but other than that... there is a dozen destroyers, a few patrol crafts and a brazilion trawlers.

Like I said, I usually travel about 40Km, do a 50m dive, go slow and listen manually to the hydrophone. I usually do about 3 revolutions, marking all the targets I can find. Surface, do another surface run and so on. Do I need to stay longer?Go deeper?

I have resorted to hunting lone destroyers (It's still early Feb 40, so I know this won't last long). While it certainly is interesting WRT the fear factor, it feels quite gamey and I know I won't be doing this for long.

PS: I resorted to the external cam, had a look at Loch Ewe, it's empty.

So, about what time period without encountered traffic we are talking about here? 7,8 or maybe 10 days or more? Are you sure that you're playing with TWoS,(post a picture of your JSGME please)

Loch Ewe shouldn't be completely empty but in some ports I have indeed "thinned" the number of docked units in order to discourage unrealistic and exploitable harbor raid attempts.

Well, it all went up and downhill this morning; I picked up my last save and 10 minutes later, I found two nice fat ships getting out of Loch Ewe...promptly sank both of them, fled north...only to be spotted by a patrolcraft. When I submerged, it kept circling right above me...until a destroyer showed up, pinged me and I ended up with light damage and managed to escape through my teeth. I am now limping back home, conning tower is kaput, but I'm still floating. I of course crossed path with at least two ships on my way back, grrr

* Do these patrolcrafts have a sonar? I swear it was following me even though I was 90m deep.

Do ships spawn at a certain hour? I swear Loch Ewe was empty before and when I 'spied' on it at around 6AM, I noticed a few ships hidden behind nets. (I am no fool, I won't go near that killzone...). I was thinking this could be a cause why I didn't spot anything before that?

Nothing fancy mod wise, here is my JSGME screenshot: http://imgur.com/a/cy4zL

Edit: Time with no sightings was about 5 days (Wilhelmshaven -> Loch Ewe at Speed #2, with a bit of lollygagging north of it)

Just found the Royal Sovereign battleship, it now sits at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean, I successfully escaped the angry wasp nest found thereafter.
