Default AI Behaviour

I have finally installed NYGM TW 2.2 and tried out the Barham single mission, well I had out of four eels 1 premature det, with surface running, 2 missed altogether and one hit (also a surface runner) the hit was forward of the bow main guns.
the ship kept plowing on ahead and eventually (about 20 mins) went down bow first her stern vertical.
Now historically the captian would have ordered the ship in to reverse to ease the pressure on the damaged bulk heads and give the crew a chance to stem the flooding and repair the damage.
Is this AI behaviour hard coded and unchangeable ?

hummm ... thats an interesting question , the behaviour of the ship could change considering the part of it that was hit. i dont understand nothing about editing and stuff but if the ships react going on zig zag when hit or when danger sighted this could be modded to react in a diferent way i guess.
