How would you guys like this?

I read in another forum where someone mentioned it would be nice to control a destroyer or other units. Well, I've always had this idea. How would you guys like a multiple ww2 themed online experience? Heres how it goes. Lets say youre online and you're controlling a sub, well the destroyer, he happens to be controlled by a human player at his computer, he chose allies. And they aircraft, there controlled by people too because this is a flight sim combined with the subsimn online. So all untis are human intellgence and not A.I.

I think that would be a very fun and addicting game.

It always amazes me how few people knew about that game, considering how popular MMO games are nowadays.

No idea, I've only played the demo. It's very realistic and complicated, so it takes some to get into. And it's got its faults.

I'd like a type of MMO Sim which featured only naval warfare, no land battles. Maybe an idea for Silent Hunter V?

I played that. The Naval aspect is very limited. They have 3 boats, a riverine craft, a destroyer, and a cargo transport. Depending on the state of the way, they rarely get used. When they do, aircraft take them out with ease. The "ocean" is one pixel deep, no subs in the game.

It was a great game in the beginning, but it went downhill. They kept taking away more and more and putting in more rules to please the fanbois. The equipment is allocated and fighting is designated by high commands, which are player run. I never liked the idea of a 13 year old giving me orders.

It's early 80's technology for the graphics. It's a very small team running it so updates are always very buggy and progress is very limited. I don't think they will last much longer.

Do a search on "battleground europe free trial" and there are usually offers somewhere and you can play it for free for two weeks. During those two weeks you'll have low rank, which means you can't get good equipment. You'll be fodder.

Well, they tried this concept with SH2 and Destroyer Command. Great in theory but it didnt work out to well due to bugs and such.

Its too bad cause it has the makings for great fun.

The game was in a total shambles when it came out and totally unplayable. Wasn't it free for 6 months or something because of all the bugs and unplayablity? There were much better MMORPGs out at the time, which is why it was totally forgotten by most players.

Why Not? If the 13 year old in question has a higher rank, and/or has better tactics, or is just a pro at the game, why not then? If i hear something like this, i am getting pissed a bit, and it's hard not to show it.

I know 11 year old who kick anyones arse in games like counterstrike. Everyone. Even mine. They really know what they are doing.

See, i am 15, and if i command a team in any game, and a certain individum refuses to do what i order to a team under my command, because "they never liked the idea of a 13 year old giving them orders" i Command all the loyal ones to Team Kill the Traitor till he leaves the server.

If a 8 year old gives me orders i still don't care, as long as the person in question gives good commands wich do not seem like utter horsesh**.

I don't care about ages anyway. 60 or 8, it always depends on the kind of person on the other end of the Internet Connection.

As much as that game look interesting I simply refuse to even take part in any pay to play game.

I payed my hard earned money to buy it so I simply refuse to shell out more each month just to play it.

I bought a store copy of that game intending to play online. Unfortunately, the CD Key had been used by someone else which meant I couldn't use it. Took it back to the shop, got another copy...same thing.

So now it languishes on my shelf, a waste of money and time since my emails went unanswered.

I'll keep my money, thanks.

I think it could be made to work quite well, actually. The thing they'd need to address would be the long travel times, apart from that it should be mostly OK.

Then instead of discussions such as this one:
Safe-Keeper: "I raided Scapa yesterday and sunk a gazillion ships!"
Everyone: "OMG! Post screeniez!"
[Long discussion on GW's added entrances to Scapa, when ships are there, and what the Heck not]

...We'd have discussions such as this one:
N00bz: "OMG B4n safekeper he wuz in teh All1'd spawn base @ scapa&Sp4wnrapeing!!111"
Safe-Keeper: Not again. We've been through this 1000 times, don't you guys ever do forum sear--
N00bz: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
[Safe-Keeper Banned, thread closed]

Actually, if they were going to make a MMO based on SH's engine, that would be pretty cool. One side could be Germany's U-boat fleet, with the other side being the Allies.

Well, no, scratch that- it would be fun for purists, boring for everyone else. With multiplayer, there wouldn't be any time-compression...I'm guessing most people would be afk while their boats voyage long expanses of the atlantic.
