Default Advice

After MANY months of computer problems, I am getting a new one. I really miss playing SHIII and believe that the problems might have been caused by it. I replaced the Power supply 450watt, motherboard, two video cards (9800pro and GF6600 256mb) and RAM. I even reinstalled xp many times. I purchased the game through Subsim.com, in fact I pre-ordered it to support this website. Is there a work around to restore my faith that it is safe to load or should I just wait for SHIV. Thanks for any advice. PS Notice I did not mention any taboo words in this post

I don't see any issues. The new Grey Wolves mod has brought some much needed life into the game. Judging by you rig, the game should run and look great!

Thanks for the reply and yes it SHOULD run great- but I still am getting crashes/reboots. Anyway I just order a whole new rig from Dell, AMD64 3800, 1gig ram, and GF 7600gs 256mb video. But I dont want to go down this road again if Silent Hunter III caused all these problems (ie SF) I already proved it messed up my DVD/RW when it was installed, the problem went away after uninstall.

peace,
Tim

Funny about that SF. I have not had any issues with it. Heck, I just have an E-Machine, AMD 3200+, some NVidia motherboard, Nvidia 6200 OC videocard. I do not know what E-Machines uses for the DVD/ROM drive but mine works just fine with SF. It is the odd that it affects some but not all. I understand there is a CD crack out there for SF but you did not hear it from me

Is it possible to get any details of your problem? Or is it that I just missed the secret 'code'

Very funny.

You are a member since 2003, you had more than enough time to read the forum rules, but it seems you didn´t. Here is the relevant part:
