There's an English translated paperback entitled: The U-boat Commanders Handbook which was written for the u-boat commander during WWII by the High Command of the German Navy. It's usually available on Amazon or E-bay.

There are tons of other u-boat books available. I'd recommend Iron Coffins by Werner and Operation Drumbeat by Gannon for starters.

I have got what you are looking for.
It is a translation to Spanish, 83 pages, 1943.
The pics inside are not originals, they have been added by the translator.
If you are interested, let me know it, I will post it at Rapidshare.

Yeap, the data is the same, but in Spanish: """by The High Command of the German Navy (Author), High Command of the German Army (Author), Kriegsmarine (Author)"""

I own it and it is GREAT, as far as an in-depth look at far as an operational viewpoint for U-Boats is concerned. It reads a lot like stereo instructions, and its by no means complete, but from an immersion standpoint and to put you in the mindset of a true Kaleun, I can't recommend anything better. I've actually consulted back to it so many times while on SH3 patrols....definately a great buy for any serious U-Boat aficinado.

a few excerpts:

"The weakness of the submarine must be offset by clever tactics, unscrupulous use, and obstinate persistance even when the chances of success seem slender"

"The 'sparing' use of the periscope (see section 1, B, No. 31) i.e. the raising of the persicope, at frequent intervals and for a brief space of time, to surface level, so that the periscope appears no bigger than a fist and ais almost constantly awash, begins at a distance of 4,000-5,000 m from the enemy...."

"The following are the rules for keeping the contact , and overhauling. Overhaul right on the limits of the zone of visibility. Be absolutely sure you are not sighted..."

As you can see...there's plenty of good info there

Here is a late 1946 submarine operations manual. Although for American fleets it illustrates all the complex systems located onboard a submarine during WW2, the procedures, and how they operate.

http://www.maritime.org/fleetsub/

Its why I think SH3 can't be called an actual simulator just yet.....

Jesus..this is a find! Danke Tikigod!

Its insane to see all the air-systems and other operations with the older subs...I don't know if people could handle the amount of stuff that actually goes on with subs; as well as mission times...One mission could drag on for days/weeks to actually finish..since you couldnt speed it up (you'd probably miss something important..haha) *my 2 cents.

Sacrifice a little realism to save some sort of balance...
