Default Verizon Wireless Cards

In the middle of Florida right now and playing with this Verizon Wireless cell phone card. Works kind of good in some cases, but not so good in others. I notice telnet has some timing problems so if you don't have 768k down, it just plain doesn't want to work. I think that is due to the fact that this card shuts itself off if it doesn't detect any activity for a brief period of time - like real brief.

The flip side is, you can be on the beach with your laptop and still surfing the net. I started playing with these things like 2 or 3 years ago, but this is my first extended play time on it.

I guess like anything else, it has its pluses and minuses. I'll try VPN'ing and try to establish a RA connection to one of my servers. That will be the real test.

You would take your laptop out onto the sand close to the surf?

Not on the beach. I was using that as an example. Too much sun to see the screen correctly!

Sand + Electronics = Death

There is no way to keep sand out of electronics, no matter how careful you are...it will eventually destroy your machine.
