I had this problem
for me it was related to the scene.dat file. I had again the clouds when i substituted that file with the scene.dat contained in the environmentcolours mod (you find it in the mod forum) and rollback from sh3comm. I dont know if depend form sh3comm, but i made the sobstitution in the midlle of a patrol and the sky from a perfect blue sky became full of clouds ..... i try to reinstall the sh3comm eand the sky again was empty, i rollback and re-put the env scene.dat and again clouds. It's an empirical solution, but it works for me .... but now i have the moon with a background square (it is a difect of environmentcolour mod.) i dont know if i can sobstitute the moon tga file ... at the moment i didnt find any solution in the forum ... i hope this useful sorry for my english |

GW environment colors / weather are on a very fine / fragile balance. Changing / further modding these files have a "don´t try this at home" status ![]() |

I was found somewhere in this forum solution for this problem. I tried and work.
In Data\Campaigns\Campaign there is 3 files (Campaign_LND.mis, Campaign_RND.mis and Campaign_SCR.mis) in all 3 files I edited this: [Mission] Title= MissionType=0 MissionDataType=1 Year=1939 Month=1 Day=1 Hour=12 Minute=0 Fog=1 FogRand=2 Clouds=1 CloudsRand=2 Precip=1 PrecipRand=2 WindHeading=0 WindSpeed=7.000000 WindRand=2 WeatherRndInterval=2 SeaType=0 Briefing= and now I have clouds and everything else, fog... I use NYGM v.2.01. but probable this is solution and for TGW. I hope this helps. |

Jmack, let me know if you found a solution. I've had this problem also. I'm on my 21st patrol and there's never been a cloud in the sky. Only mods I'm using which may be related to the problem, other than GW 1.1, is Sergs moon reflections mod.
I tried the fix suggested by poor sailor. When that was first posted it was mentioned that you had to do a long protracted patrol before the new weather effects kicked in. I've done that and though I no longer suffer from the 6-day storms, I still have clear skys even during thunderstorms. |

Managed to fix my no clouds problem. Try using the scene.dat from Sergs Moon reflections mod. There are two different scene.dats contained in that mod depending on whether you have the 8km or 16km Atmosphere mod installed.
I originally had the 16km mod installed but later switched back to default 8km as I was finding it a bit hard on my frame rate, but I neglected to change the relevant scene.dat from the Moon reflections mod. All has been fixed now and my sky is full of clouds again. I would still recommend making the change that poor sailor suggested as it does adjust the weather variability to a more realistic level. |

I had this problem once also. It involves the scene.dat files. If you dont install them properly then you get all kinds of weird things happining like no clouds. My problem had to do with the 8k-16k vis mods and the cloud mods. These are both part of GW as far as I know but at the time I was installing them seperatly and ended up with what you are discribing. Not sure why you would get this from just running GW unless you have another mod already installed that messes with Scene.dat.

http://web.telia.com/%7Eu18230645/ It's fairly self-explanatory when you open the folder. There are various scene.dat files in sub-folders pertaining to the more popular supermods such as NYGM, GW 1.1 and the stock game. In the GW 1.1 folder there are two folders containing scene.dat files for either the default 8km or 16km Atmosphere mod. Choose whichever scene.dat is relevant to your installation. Backup your original of course, just in case. My install uses GW 1.1 with the default 8km Atmosphere, and the above weather adjustments suggested by poor sailor (originally posted in this forum some time ago...Forget who first came up with it.) Applying the relevant scene file from Sergs Moon reflection mod made my clouds appear again. It's a bit of a workaround fix and you may not even need the weather adjustments, but it cant hurt to try, so long as you make the backups...You'll also get a nice moon reflection on the sea surface at night. Let me know if it works for you. |
