Default Tango Class Sub in Moscow

Here are a bunch of photos I took of teh Tango Class SSK that is being turned into a museum in Moscow. I was lucky that I got to see it as the day I went was the last day before they close it until they have finished building some of teh museum. Kind of daft as it had only opened a couple of weeks before. Seems H&S has gone overboard there too now as thee building site is away from the sub. All they need to do is put up a fence.

Some of the pics are shot trhough plexiglass so are a bit distorted.

Hope you like them. PLease though if you post them on your site please say where you got them from. They have been shrunk to fit photobucket.

Why are there white areas on the tower's fore and aft? :hmm:

They look like the acoustically transparent covers for sonar scanners, but painted white for some reason.

I think on the sail they are painted white but hey it could also be done to pick it out. It is in the early stages. One of the photos shows a model of the finished complex. Will be good when it is done.

Those are some nice pictures!

Another Tango class submarine open to the public can be found in Hamburg, not too far away from the Typ XXI in Bremerhaven. Other very interesting boats are the Juliett and Oberon subs in Peenemünde and Sassnitz on the island of Rügen.

Great pics Xabb. The Tango is one of my favourite Cold War diesel subs. Thanks for sharing them on the forum.
