Default U-boat Skins

Hopefully soon, of course with fubar's permission, I will release several skins I have been fiddling with here lately.

The skins are based on fubar's work with only I modifying his creation into several types of schemes.

Here is a preview...

Even though historically the Uboat did not have red bottoms..this actually makes me wish they did.The red makes it look so much cooler than the standard grey.

CWorth is right, U-Boats never had a red hull, so please, do it in grey! It might be looking better in red but its historrical wrong!

If Graf wants a red bottom ½ hull then who are we to say different. Now if you had asked a bit nicer like, for a grey bottom ½ hull instead of sounding rather demanding, you may end up with more choices than none at all. This fanatical anal retentive rivert counting attitude is what turns a lot of new modders right off, damn quick. I know you said please, but to me in its current context, it sounds more like an order/demand. If I have gotten it wrong, then this post never happend and I was never here (in other words, I may have read more into it than you intended and if so I apologise).

Graf, on your changes.

Any chance you have a IIA skin with the bottom red hull??----I'd enjoy taking same out on the first few patrols of a new campaign in 39 before changing to a "war scheme" paint job--simulate using a training boat for the first few patrols.

For the historic experts,---I thought i read somewhere that a few of the early pre war IIA's had the red hull (probably wrong--anyone else recall this?--would like to know for sure ). If i recall right, the red and white buoy on the rear of the sh3 IIA was not there once war began but wasn't one found in the early days of the war in the english channel along with a brass plauque(sp) with writing that said "U-... was sunk here notify BDU" or something to that effect??

Anyway, Graf--keep up the fiddling

Im not shure but I think it might have some acuricy. Prewar(at least in the US) it wasint uncomon to use "Red Lead" to prevent crosion/rusting of the hulls.:hmm:

You guys are right, historically very few u-boats had a red hull.

I'm just trying out several versions with red, grey, and a dark blue hull. What I'm more concerned with is the camo.

No worries guys, I can do several versions with all types of schemes, very easy to do. I'll post more pics of several versions here in abit.

Snafu,

No prob. Lemme take a look at her and see what I can do.

If you want grey then use Fubars original skins that these are based on.No need for Graf to use the grey since it is already done on these skins by Fubar himself.

Graf..
Dont listen to these rivet counters....The red looks awsome. Also it is something different which is always good.

Or go the whole hog, and make a "red baron" out of it, and terrorise the seas.

I like changing the look of my U-Boat every so often.

So you guys who create the skins keep them coming and I thank you for your hard work.

Please..can someone explain to me, why eveytime I installed a skin (other than the ones included in GW) the speed performances of my boats decreased ? Do the skins alter something else in the boats cfg's regarding their top speeds ?
