Default How often do you save your game?

Just wondering how often you guys save. I used to save frequently when I was new, as not to waste a huge amount of torpedoes. Now though I tend to not save at all unless I need to log off, and I stop playing a career after death.

I never use the save game..I start a patrol and I finish the patrol in one sitting. If I do have to walk away I simply pause the game and go do what I had to then come back and unpause and continue on.

There are to many bugs involved with saving in mid patrol in this game that I find it alot easier to simply never save.Cuts out on alot of problems that way.

That and real captains had no save game function to reload if they screwed up so I don't use it either.

I used to save a lot in my recently finished career. Of course, I got killed a lot...

Anyway, it is my intention to start playing GW when I but a new pc, at 100% realism and DID - save games will be used only when I have to leave the patrol for real life obligations. It'll be a tough learning school.

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub

Ditto.

Except sometimes when I might have to rush out in a hurry, I save frequently.

In the beginning I used to save a lot more, lot more corrupted saves. More you save, more corrupt it gets.

Hrm so the only thing you use your computer for is Silent hunger

Personally I have never had trouble with mid patrol save games and I have many of them due to the fact I can very rarely get an entire patrol in one sitting.

I do use a "unique" system of saves though. Basically Ill do a save then return to the game for a few moments then use the "save and exit" feature. That way if the latter should happen to be hosed I have something to fall back on.

To the OP.... just wondering what does saving often have to do with wasting torpedoes ? Unless your referring to hitting the enter button

Well I do save, but only because I am busy and those type IX patrols are impossibly long. I only save in mid ocean far if I haven't sighted anything or received a contact report.

I'm just guessing, but I assume this refers to quitting and reloading if you miss. Keeps the score high.

I usually save once every game day. I keep a written log and imagine I'm making a report at the same time each day. I also save right after I hit a target, because from time to time my game crashes when a ship sinks (sound issues).

I save whenever I want.... ususally just before something grand is about to happpen..... like nailing that big fat juicy convoy that just appeared out of the fog. LOL Or supper, or whenever the Warden calls.

I do the written log too. Helps keep track of the good Grids to catch the enemy in.

If you do not try and install a mod during a patrol you shouldn't have problems saving anytime you want during a patrol, unless you have sound issues or some other problem not related to SHIII.

Only install mods while "In Base". Installing mods during a patrol will cause you to lose your campaign, unless you have it all backed up and safe.
