Type XXI in 1939 ?

Dear Colleagues,

I really like this game. Its intriguing and very good to play. There is one thing that I wish to do, however, that is to to get my hands on a Type XXI boat during the happy times. I know its not a tremendous challenge, but I really want to take the type XXI out for a spin in a situation where there are not something like a million super sonar equipped destroyers after me.

I am using SH3 Commander, but I must be doing something wrong. By itself, I can't seem to create a single mission since the name and grid are greyed out and the only way that I can populate that grid is by temporarily going to the new career option, putting in a name and patrol grid, then clicking down to a single mission where the information will be carried on.

The problem is that when I head back to the single missions, in the 1939 timeframe, I cant select the type XXI boat.

First, is this even possible?
Second, are there clearer instructions for SH3 commander somewhere?
