Ok, where to start? The past few weeks have been rough here at home for me. I lost my job first of all and I have a daughter, she's 5 months old and I don't sleep well at night (she cries a lot). I am a veteran of the US Navy (6 years active duty) and I am about to attempt college for the second time in my life on the MGIB which still isn't enough money to cover ALL the cost of the school I am going to be attending ($30,000) for two years

Serious recommendation: don't was time on WEB forums or computer games.
Hug your family. Remember your baby daughter cries because she has no other way of getting your love and attention and she needs it 24x7 and that's the way it's going to be for a long time. Invest in her - it will pay off big-time in the future. Learn the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's song "Isn't She Lovely" and hum it to yourself when you see her or think of her - or of your wife, for that matter. ![]() Don't be ashamed or feel guilty for losing your job. Don't keep your feelings hidden from your wife. Tell her everything that's on your mind and ask her to help you get through these times until things turn for the better, which they usually do, at least if you really want them to. Inertia is your biggest enemy. Kill it now. Now skeddadle. You don't need to be here. Good luck! ![]() |

Actually the Avon Lady is Master Yoda's secondary account that he uses to prevent the Sith Lords of the forum from busting him.

I know from experience (grandddad) that stress from one of the parents could cause a baby to cry much.

SubSerpent,
I understand to a certain point of what you are going thru. My wife just accepted a job 1.5 hours away. They wanted her to start a week from her interview, which is tomorrow, but conceded to September 11th when she told them there was no way. I don't have a job lined up for this move and I've got my resume at 8 different companies. Not only that, but I've got an ex-wife who receives child support and state mandated health insurance coverage. Don't get me wrong, I understand my obligations to my other children, but it's a matter of finding a job. |

Lets drink to our problems Sonar732 and sing in our drunken Robert Shaw (from Jaws) voices... ![]() SPANISH LADIES (Traditional English Capstan Shanty) Farewell and adieu to you fine Spanish ladies, Farwell and adieu all you ladies of Spain; For we've received orders to sail for old England; And perhaps we shall never more see you again. Chorus: We'll rant and we'll roar like true British sailors, We'll range and we'll roam over all the salt seas, Until we strike soundings in the Channel of old England, From Ushant to Scilly 'tis thirty-five leagues. Then we hove our ship to, with the wind at sou'-west, my boys, Then we hove our ship to, for to strike soundings clear; Then we filled the main topsail and bore right away, my boys, And straight up the Channel of old England did steer. Chorus So the first land we made it is called the Deadman, Next Ram Head off Plymouth, Start, Portland and the Wight; We sailed hy Beachy, by Fairly and Dungeness, And then bore away for the South Foreland light. Chorus Now the signal it was made for the Grand Fleet to anchor, All on the Downs that night for to meet; Then stand by your stoppers, see clear your shank-painters, Haul all your clew garnets, stick out tacks and sheets. Chorus Now let every man drink up his full bottle, Let every man drink up his full bowl; For we will be jolly and drown melancholy, With a health to each jovial and true-hearted soul. Chorus ***** SPANISH LADIES (The Yankee Version - Adapted by Roger Chartier) Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain For we've received orders to sail to New Bedford And perhaps we shall never more see you again. Chorus: We'll rant and we'll roar like true Yankee sailors We'll rant and we'll rave across the salt sea Till we strike soundings in the harbor of New Bedford Nantucket to home is just a few leagues We hove our ship to with the wind at the sou'west boys We hove our ship to for to take soundings clear In fifty five fathoms with a fine sandy bottom We filled main tops'l up channel did steer We'll rant and we'll roar like true Yankee sailors We'll rant and we'll rave across the salt sea Till we strike soundings in the harbor of New Bedford Great Point to home is just a few leagues The first land we made was a place called Nantucket Martha's Vinyard, Woods Hole then down Buzzards Bay We sailed then by Marion, Mattapoisett, and Fairhaven Then bore straight away for New Bedford, hooray We'll rant and we'll roar like true Yankee sailors We'll rant and we'll rave across the salt sea Till we strike soundings in the harbor of New Bedford The Vinyard to home is just a few leagues Now the Captain called out for our grand ship to anchor We clewed up our tops'ls stuck out tacks and sheets We stood by our stoppers, we brailed in our spankers And anchored ahead of the noblest of fleets We'll rant and we'll roar like true Yankee sailors We'll rant and we'll rave across the salt sea Till we strike soundings in the harbor of New Bedford Woods Hole to home is just a few leagues Let every man here drink up his full bumper, Let every man here drink up his full bowl And let us be jolly and drown melancholy And drink a health to each jovial and true hearted soul We'll rant and we'll roar like true Yankee sailors We'll rant and we'll rave across the salt sea Till we strike soundings in the harbor of New Bedford West Island to home is just a few leagues. |
