My Apology To The SubSim Community

Ok, where to start? The past few weeks have been rough here at home for me. I lost my job first of all and I have a daughter, she's 5 months old and I don't sleep well at night (she cries a lot). I am a veteran of the US Navy (6 years active duty) and I am about to attempt college for the second time in my life on the MGIB which still isn't enough money to cover ALL the cost of the school I am going to be attending ($30,000) for two years . My wife is working but I feel that I let her down by losing my job and I have a major guilt trip on me. I feel ashamed sometimes and depression has begun to set in. I try to stay focused on what I need to be doing but that gets tiring. Anyways, I took a bad day, bad week, bad month, a little far the other night with a few members on here (I've forgotten their names but they know who they are) and I wish to express my deepest apollogies to them. God, I feel like such a sap right now . I know I can be a bit of a prick but I'm not trying to be. I don't mean to be personal against anyone. I still very much want to be an active member of this forum and I appreciate Gizzmoe and Neal for giving me a second chance. I owe Gizzmoe and Neal a HUGE apology for causing everyone on here so much grief including them. I'M SORRY EVERYONE!

Hug your family. Remember your baby daughter cries because she has no other way of getting your love and attention and she needs it 24x7 and that's the way it's going to be for a long time. Invest in her - it will pay off big-time in the future. Learn the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's song "Isn't She Lovely" and hum it to yourself when you see her or think of her - or of your wife, for that matter.

Don't be ashamed or feel guilty for losing your job. Don't keep your feelings hidden from your wife. Tell her everything that's on your mind and ask her to help you get through these times until things turn for the better, which they usually do, at least if you really want them to.

Inertia is your biggest enemy. Kill it now.

I need to finish getting my degree and this is something my wife wants me to get also. We already own our own home and both of our vehicles are paid off so bills aren't too bad and she is able to cover them pretty much on her paycheck alone. I also owned some property up in VA that I recently sold for a fairly good amount of money to help us pay off everything debt wise (credit cards, cars, and a few thousand left on this house as well as the medical bills for having a baby) and I still have a fairly good amount of money left over somehow. My wife wants to avoid daycare for Isabella (our daughter) right now cause she is so young and we don't trust anyone else with her and also daycare is very expensive here. So my wife and I both try to work opposite shifts. She works days, I work nights or vise versa. She is happy with her job and for the first time in our lives we have totally switched roles. I used to be the breadwinner and worked hard everyday while she stayed home and took care of the house. Now she works and I have become the Mr. Mom so to speak. It's not easy! Actually, it's probably the toughest job I've ever had. Anyways, we aren't stuggling or anything, but I do want to be working to just to add money to pot so to speak. It's just been a tough transition for me from going from single sailor to married sailor, from sailor to civilian, from Italy to Alabama, from non-father to father, from employed to unemployed, etc.. (And these are the days of SubSerpent's life).

I appreciate your concern and your suggestions.

I understand to a certain point of what you are going thru. My wife just accepted a job 1.5 hours away. They wanted her to start a week from her interview, which is tomorrow, but conceded to September 11th when she told them there was no way. I don't have a job lined up for this move and I've got my resume at 8 different companies. Not only that, but I've got an ex-wife who receives child support and state mandated health insurance coverage. Don't get me wrong, I understand my obligations to my other children, but it's a matter of finding a job.
