Interesting story of US capture of U-boat

"This is the story about the capture of a German U-505 Submarine, by the USS Guadalcanal in the Atlantic ocean, during World War II"

THIS should have been made into a film instead of U-571. In fact that film is an insult to these sailors almost as much as it was to the Brits (and before them the Poles) who actually captured/smuggled Enigma first.

Great story.

The irony is that the commander of the TF was almost court-martialed. Standing orders were NOT to capture U-boats in case the Germans changed codes because of it.

Actually, there was a news reel film about the capture. Great footage. It's been many years ago, but I had it on VHS (pre-DVD era). Tape got bad. Wish I had a chance to convert it to digital now.
