- As anybody successfully sunk a ship with a flak gun ? If so what kind of ship ? What caliber does it take and with how much ammunition ?
- I have just recently transfered to Lorient base. Is there a way to get out of the harbor into the open sea in less than 20 minutes ? Time compression doesn't go higher than 1 until I'm out of the channel. I tried transfering but I was denied it. - How long does a regular patrol last in the stock game. I mean do you consider your patrol over when you are out of torpedoes ? Mine don't last more than 3 weeks. I was just wondering. thank you. |

Trawler, tugs, small coastal merchants and Elco's are all fine cannon fodder for my flack guns in the stock stand version of the game
![]() The 20mm does the job, the twin 20mm is better, 37mm auto loader better still (the semi-auto 37mm is slower than a week of Mondays) the twin 37mm is best ![]() Make sure the 37mm is using the AP ammo or you won't get the results you wish for. Ammo used depends on the size of the ship (trawler will take less than a coastal), what size and type of weapon used (A twin 37mm beats a single 20mm anyday), any damage done to the vessal beforehand and wherever you shoot stragit enough to hit it! ![]() The smaller the ship, the quicker they sink! ![]() ![]() They can be used to finnish off larger ships if the deck gun has runn out of ammo, take out deck cargo, lifeboats, funnels, vetlation ducts and masts, then start working over the hull around the waterline, near the engine room, fuel tanks and the like. Good Hunting! ![]()

1. Yes, I sank a small merchant in the stock game. I emptied all three flak guns to it and it finally sank.
2. Signal1941 said it. ![]() 3. For me it varies. If I spot a convoy during the transit to the patrol area, I usually end up firing all torpedoes to it. Then there´s the boring patrols in high seas and heavy fog, when you cant do anything but wait. So, I´d say my patrol times are from 10 days to a few months. |

I finished off a C2 after I'd knocked the propellor off with my last torp, used almost all of my Flak ammo, but she sank ![]() |

Patrol Length: Depends, If I spot an Convoy I use most of my torps (when there are a lot of capital ships floating in it) I save 3 Torps on my way back in case when an DD detects I still have some guts left to fire at it.
TC in harbour : Lorient is an nice base...my TC goes max 4 and on some small parts I can higher it to 32 for a small while.. set ur TC in SH3Cmdr to 16. going to fast may result into an total mess when u accidently press an wrong button (crash dive button is the most dangerous one) About flaks.. Save those for planes...if ur shooting all ur ammo at an coastal merchant...and your in 42 - 45 close by the english coast where happens to be an Airbase....then ur pretty fried fish if ur doing ''Click, Click, Click, ...Crap out of ammo!
