Default Dual install for different mods

I have messed about with my only installation of SH3 with different mods etc. However, I would like to try the Grey Wolves mod but I don't want to get rid of my original installation. Can I use the method below to create a clean installation for the GW mod:

"Rename this SilentHunterIII folder ( the one in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft ) to say SilentHunterIIIGrey Wolves - or whatever mod you plan to put on
Now put your DVD back in and click on install
Then click on repair and it will create another SilentHunterIII folder which you then patch to 1.4"

Any help most appreciated.

I don't know about that method, but have a look at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...t=dual+install

The method you wrote is the best and simplest in my opinion.Just rename the folder, click repair and there you have it.

Yep, it worked perfectly. What if you want to delete an old installation that you don't want anymore, is it just a case of deleting the relevant folder in the Ubisoft directory or will this have some detrimental effect on the whole SHIII installation?

I doubt it would havy any effect.Just make sure you rollback SH3 cmdr if you are using it before deleting and make sure you don't load the other mod's patrols in the un-deleted one.
