Default hiding the interface for more realism

does anyone know if its possible to hide the side bar interface, and possibly the officer pictures. so youd have to actually walk around the sub clicking on your officers to get themt o tell you specific things. i know its a funny question but i thought itd add alot of fun having to do alot of things manually.

ps. i dont mean simply pressing numpad del. cuase that hides everything and you at least need those little squares that pop up when you click on an officer

Wow.

No, not that I know. It would increase realism, though.

ok i just figured out how to get rid of the side bar.

make sure you back up any altered files

to get rid of side bar...
1. go to c:\program files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Menu
2. open menu_1024-768.ini (back this up)
3. at the bottom of screen change "slidingSpeed=200" to read "slidingspeed=0"
this will make it so the side bar doesnt move at all.
4. lastly scroll down to block "g3f i21" (helps just to use the find funtion to find it fast) when you find it just edit the following. make Pos=1, 761, 56, 474 and now make HorizSlide=-56

do both of those and you should have no more side bar. im just testing this now. and so far it seems fun. cause you cant just warp to places you gotta click around the uboat. maybe next ill deactivate the f1-f12 keys so that i am really forced to walk around my uboat. still testing all this but so far thats how im doing it. now to figure out how to get ride of the officers portraits so i cant shortcut them either. and have i have to walk up to them to get the info i need. only problem i can see here is that if one of them is dead or not there i cant get into his station without click the blank portrait (the one im trying to hide) but still ill see if i can figure out how to hide em.

That's pretty smart, good find. Although I doubt I'll ever use it, it's not my thing. I prefer to be able to teleport around in my sub and issue orders by yelling.

This is another area SH3 seemed incomplete on. You can not play this game totally by mouse. You can not manually control the sub without the keyboard. I would be cool to do everying via the mouse...but you cant....some screens dont allow you to back out of.

yep. you're absolutley right. and i noticed this. its really fun to move about with the mouse.. that is untill you go into the map screen, tdc screen or periscope, ect ect. then suddenly you cant get back out of it and you are forced to "teleport". if we could just some how figure out how to go back to previous screen from inside the map, periscope, tdc screens it could add a whole new element to the game.

Its been done though it has to be a keyboard command for those stations (as the right mouse button is used in those stations which is why you cant back out of them in stock)

sorry not following ya. is there a way to get out of the scope, map screens without pressing a shortcut to another station. so for example of you bakc out of the periscope it brings you back to where you entered it from like theconning tower. or if you back out of the nav map it brings you back to the command room. what im trying t (or want to do) is not skip around the ship.

I thought hiding the side bar is easily to be done by pressing the "," on the num block.
