Came accross this expedition diary of various Uboat Wrecks. Pretty intresting..

"History

At the end of 1945 Britain had in its possession 110 German U-boats, based at Loch Ryan, Scotland and Lisahally, Northern Ireland. The British Government made a decision that all these boats were to be sunk by various means in deep water. Some say this was meant to be a terrible retribution for the damage that U-boats had done to the Allies. Orders issued on 14th November 1945 outlined the fate of these vessels and "Operation Deadlight" began.
Those vessels that were to be scuttled had explosive charges placed in the forward and aft torpedo tubes and various hatches. These were to be detonated by use of a physically set fuse, or in the event that men were unable to board, an electrical fuse, detonated by the towing ship. The other U-boats where to be sunk by aircraft, gunfire, torpedoes and the then top-secret "Squid" ship-to-ship missile.
Operation Deadlight's D-Day was to be 25th November 1945 and would continue until 12th February 1946. The U-boats were to be towed to an area approximately 120 miles northwest of Ireland known as Position ZZ. Due to the onset of winter gales and unsuitable towing vessels, 57 U-boats never made it to Position ZZ.

what an waste of Submarines....
who came on this idea must have been stupid.

especially the XX types....jezus....why!

because of the pain the axis did to the allies....
get out of here man, War is hell...the Sub didnt do anything wrong the Crewmen did.

why does the machine has to pay when they where under control by human hands

I know... i thought the same... really makes u sick because there is so few uboats still in existence that people can actually touch and see without having to put on diving gear and paying a small fortune.

These wrecks are not too far from where I live. I used to live right beside the port at Lisahally and spent a lot of time there when I was younger, fishing the Foyle in the summer and exploring what everyone around there referred to as "the Yanks". I guess that must have been the remnants of the American base at Lisahally. Do you know how far off Malin Head the boats lie?

I haven't had the chance to enter the Foyle yet in SHIII, but are the Lisahally or the Derry docks there? I checked the nav. map and didn't see any.

Knowing the Irish government, I doubt much will be done to help preserve these sites. It's a shame.

Just checked the map on there. Seems they are. Right off the coast where I do my fishing. I remember hearing something about this dive at the time.
