im currently in the middle of 1943 using gw, and it seems way too easy. i barely see any enemy planes and the destroyers never even come close to me. everytime i go to slow and slap silent running on, its like a cloaking device for my submarine, they never catch me! i give the gw team very much credit though, their mod is very immersive and exciting and i can see all the time they put into it. im thinking about trying nygm for the rest of my campaign, and my question is, what will i be missing by switching from gw to nygm for the rest of my campaign?

I might be wrong but i think you can run GW and NYGM together. I hope so as im thinking of trying out NYGM as well but i want to run it along side GW

NYGM Tonnage WAr has less "eye candy" and more realism. However, GW will become much harder very soon. I have never servived past '43. You can do a dual install; They really are not compatable, but you can run one and then the other and see which you like better. Run GW at 100% realism, and I suspect you will find a nasty destroyer or plane very soon.

You cant install one over the other so a dual install is the way to go ( Irish )
Wait a little while longer for GWX

You will miss a lot of aircraft in you keep T\C over 256 too

I thought the same thing...then all of a sudden around September of '43 things started getting a lot tougher. Air craft hounding me (once they spot you they keep sending more patrols your way), they start utilizing the extended patrol range so there really is no safe place. I get driven under two or three times a day. Destroyers are starting to get smart and though I can get away the majority of times, more and more often they do find me and I have to go evasive for a couple hours as I get dc'd. Believe me your life as a captain is about to get tougher. I do not use NYGM or GW (yet). I have about 20 individual mods including Improved Convoys (I love that mod). I am currently in Oct. '43....so if you are in early or mid '43...have patience...it happens rather suddenly.

P.S. If your base in the bay of biscay...it also turns nasty with Allied destroyers patroling the area and air patrols coming at you all the way to base or as you are just leaving (Up until sept., the bay was a safe zone...I never saw enemy aircraft or destroyers/escorts. As an example to start my last mission in October, I ran into an air patrol about 50km outside of st. naz. and a HK group (single file of 6 black swans) about 150-200km outside st. naz).
