Default NYGM settings question

The manual for NYGM says that time compression available in "3D views" should match the maximum settings (e.g. 1024 for both). I assume this is what keeps crew readiness going down even at the highest time compression, thus requiring realistic crew rotations.

However, what if I don't want to do this? Shuffling my crew around on an uneventful cruise out requires an awful lot of mouse-work. I prefer the old method of keeping crew readiness unchanged during high-TC periods. This eases my workload and simulates (for me) the fact that the crew knows how to change shifts without my telling them, at least until things start to happen.

So, my question: will I break anything in NYGM 2.01 if I set TC for "3D views" to something like 32 while keeping maximum TC at 1024?

Thanks!
