In the campaign mission where you have to sink the russian rebel ssbn's, after clearing datum I turned on truth to watch the Russian Loyalist Akula and see how he faired in the ensuing chaos caused by my sinking of the two ssbns, and saw the AI do something I never expected it to. Watching it on the 3d screen, after a torpedo was fired at it, it droped a decoy, travled for a minute or two away from its decoys at decent clip (I forgot what the speed was) then slowed down to zero knots and settled itself nicely on the bottom. After the torpedos we spoofed by the decoys and the akula was out of danger, the akula rasied back off the bottom again and started moving again. After the next torpedo was fired at it it did the same thing, although this time it got hit. My question is the AI supposed to know how to do this? If so pretty impressive. and if the AI was programed to do this there actually must be some [game world] benift?
Im running Luftwolfamizur mod in case this is one of there AI improvments. |

Actually, rather than a feature, you are seeing a "minor" AI bug that we haven't gotten to eliminating yet (but will for LWAMI4).
The AI actually runs aground in several instances... in most cases, it's not beneficial to the AI, but as you saw, sometimes it can be. I could comment on how this or that needs to be changed, but we are probably going to wind up completely redoing all the AI evasion code (at least for submarines) for the new torpedo controls and behavior, so I'll just say for now that, "we are looking into this." ![]() I hope you are enjoying LWAMI, 688iG. Cheers, David
