Was not able to upgrade...why?

I was trying to upgrade my hydrophone AT the START of my second mission but was not able to.

i was carful not to do anything before my first mission like it is said in previous posts.

I had 1700 renown after this first mission.

I was able to buy some more crew and, promote and give qualifaications to some crew members.

However like I was saying, I was able to see my renown on the upper left corner (in the U-Boat section of the main menu) but everytime I was trying to upgrade the hydrophone (available in 1939) the renown showing on the right side was showing ''0''!

We are still in September of 1939.

Anybody has an explanation?
