You need to go into Data/Crew/Body and look at the different Off.tga files. You can then rename the ones you want to be numbers 1,2,3 etc.

Thaknks a lot for help Sailor Steve, but i done that and no way, both officers pick up the same skin name, so if i rename the skin, i only obtain a new clothes, but they still dressing both the same....

Must be in some place a command indicating the program Weapon Officer XXX.tga, Navigator Officer XXX.tga......

I don't get it then. I'm using the Das Boot Officer Clothes mod and my chief wears a black vest, the navigator has a sweater, every officer has a different suit.

Note the names of the crew you want to change. Save your latest career at least once. Give it a name you will remember. Exit out of SHIII. Go to My Documents/SH3/data/cfg/Careers/(name of career)/. . .numbered folders are your patrols within that career, pick the last one (highest number)/crew_config_(name of save).
Open this file to edit all of your crew skins, faces, hats, qualifications. . etc. The skins are numbered 0 thru 3. So TGA#1 is actually 0 and TGA#2 is actually 1. .etc. Look for

BodyTgaIdx=3 This officer would be wearing skin # 4.

HeadIdx=1 This is the face TGA

If you dump a bunch of different clothes into "SHIII Commander" in the Random folder, you can get alot of random clothing changes. I made an especially oily/grimey set of skins that only the mechanic wears using this method.

Hope this helps.

BTW be sure to copy the name of the crew member and search the file. Change each instance of that crew member. Sometimes they are listed two or three times.

Many thanks guys, done ! Plus i was able to change the Watch Officer, i forget it was dressing the same clothes too, i was having 3 officers with the same clothes.

Now a question....

Is there a crw configutation file for each submarine.... 3 for each sub, 3 for type II, 3 for type IX , 3 for type VII, and 3 for type XXI.

And into each one there are many many crews....

Do i need to edit all them ...? :hmm:

It is a lot of job... is the only way...?

Sorry but no on that one. There is only the one file for all officers and one for all petty officers.

On the other hand I have eight different officer .tgas, so I do get the flannel shirts, but only very rarely. It seems that if you have enough sometimes it will just substitute one at random.

I have only 4 .tga files, may be you have a mod ?

About the files, i found them... into :

C:\...\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg

there.. are 12 crew_config files.... 3 for each sub type.

And... all they looks as the same file with diferent name :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

I cant understand well, take a look there please...

The method I mentioned is for that career only. I think the files you are talking about are the stock files that SHIII uses for single missions and so forth. I rarely do the single missions so Im not sure how those work. The career files are in C:Windows/Documents and Settings/(user)/My Documents/SH3.

Hi mates,

changing the crew config files in 'My Documents\SH3\...' affects only the current career [or single mission, if saved]
Changing the crew config files in '...\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg' will affect all careers and single missions in the future.

I don't know what the crew.cfg files do. If you're changing the clothes they wear it has to be done in Data/Crew/Body.

To add extra .tga files for more uniform changes just add new ones and number them the way you want. Which crewmembers wear which clothes depends on which numbers you give them.

Yes Sailor Steve, you can change the clothes changing the .tga files, but with this you can not order to a determined crew to wear a determined clothes.

That is into the crew_config_XX_X.cfg files....

The main files are into the Cfg folder, they works for a single misions, and are pick-uped by the program to start a campaign, but after you start a campaign, the program stroe one of this crew config files into the saved campaign mission folder, then you must to do the changes there, into My Documents folder, in the stored campaign files.

Take a look there....

To change skins for single missions and future campaigns :

Go to :

C:\.....\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg

Look for these files :

crew_config_II_1.cfg
crew_config_II_2.cfg
crew_config_II_3.cfg

crew_config_VII_1.cfg
crew_config_VII_2.cfg
crew_config_VII_3.cfg

crew_config_IX_1.cfg
crew_config_IX_2.cfg
crew_config_IX_3.cfg

crew_config_XXI_1.cfg
crew_config_XXI_2.cfg
crew_config_XXI_3.cfg

To fix the crew skins for a present campaign :

Go to :

Search for your campaing and it last mission folder

C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Mis documentos\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\My Campaign name\Mision Folder Number

Mission folder number will be

0 for first mission...
1 for second mission...
2 for the third mission...

Look inside the last one....

you will found some Crew_Config_XXX_X.cfg files.

Corresponding to the sub used and the name of the saved mission.... in example you are using a type VII, and your last saved was called "1A"

Then the file will be :

Crew_Config_VII_1A.cfg

Inside you will found all your crew ....

Play the campaing mission, look at the officer you want to change his clothes, take note on a paper of his name..... and search for him into the file.....

In example

[CREW_MEMBER_0]
Name=Adolf Carlewitz
Index=5
NrComp=0
Type=2
Grad=7
Renown=1001.000000
Patrols=0
Morale=0.800000
Fatigue=0.000000
HealthStatus=0
HitPoints=15.000000
Experience=400
Rank=11
NrQual=2
Qualification0=0
Qualification1=1
SpecialAbility=-1
MedalsInx0=-1
MedalsCant0=-1
MedalsInx1=-1
MedalsCant1=-1
MedalsInx2=-1
MedalsCant2=-1
MedalsInx3=-1
MedalsInx4=-1
MedalsInx5=-1
MedalsInx6=-1
MedalsInx7=-1
MedalsInx8=-1
HeadIdx=1 ;Change hear for head type(not tested, dont know result)
HeadTgaIdx=0 ;change here for face (not tested, dont know result)
BodyIdx=0 ;change here for body (not tested, dont know result)
;BodyTgaIdx=0
BodyTgaIdx=3 ;Change here to wear another .tga file

HasHelmet=Yes ;Change here to put on/off the cap
HelmetIdx=0 ;Change here for the type of cap
HelmetTgaIdx=0 ;change here for cap .tga file
VoiceIdx=1 ;change here for voice type

In example i was having 3 of my creww wearing the same clothes, all 3 has :

BodyTgaIdx=0

So i take note of their name, as here Adolf Carlewitz, and change the body to

BodyTgaIdx=3

Then i take teh second and chage it to :

BodyTgaIdx=2

It means.....

the crew with body

BodyTgaIdx=0 will wear the .tga clothes into 01_OFF_Body01_D.tga

the crew with body

BodyTgaIdx=2 will wear the .tga clothes into 03_OFF_Body01_D.tga

the crew with body

BodyTgaIdx=3 will wear the .tga clothes into 04_OFF_Body01_D.tga

Those .tga files are into folder :

C:\.....\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Crew\Body\Bo dy01\OFF_TGA

If you change those .tga files, sure you will change the clothes of the creww, but it do not solve the problem if you have as me, 3 officers wearing the same clothes.

You can change the .tga files, but now, they will wear new clothes but still all 3 officers the same clothes.

With the procedure above, you can solve it.

Hope this can help to understand, a little bit tediuos, but i will use it in future campaigns.
