Default Do you guys practice drills on patrol

I have no idea if it has any effect but usually at the start of a patrol once I'm clear in deep water I always pratice crash dives and then take her down deep until the crew starts glancing at me strangly and then surface and then normaly dive and do nuckle turns and silent running.

Anyone else do this :hmm: good fun on them nice calm sunny days

Yes, once we clear the Elbe estuary (and those bloomin' schnellboots!) I first do a trim dive to make sure all is OK. When we get further out and have plenty of depth I will spring a crash dive on my crew too. I might later in the patrol do a crash dive when I am ready to submerge for a hydrophone check just to keep them on their toes.

Not that I play much, but I've always performed tests just after leaving port, especially now I'm running SH3Cmdr R2.6 which includes randomised malfunctions and effects of sabotage.

Yep another crash diver here as soon as i reach deeper waters - just to give a bit of realism to the game as i dont think doing a trim dive is needed. Another reason why i do a crash dive is i like to hear the crash dive das boot sound mod play

Ah, but one trip I discovered 'Our Hannes', the cook, had shifted a few cases of Becks to a different hidey hole and this showed up as soon as we dived.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes. Always. I have crew practice crash dives and time to depth. Also do deep dive tests to see how deep we can safely go.

I practice drilling T3's with a torpedo, yeah. Sometimes I practice drilling a coastal merchant with 88mm shells. That's about the extent of my drilling.

With randomized Sabotage & Malfunctions a test crash dive is now pretty much a necessity to avoid surprises when you least expect them.
Should Commander choose to issue a loaded file some of the areas of concern are:
Crash Dive depth
Crash Dive time
Diesel & E motor performance
Fuel consumption
Battery endurance
Various Schnorkel and Periscope problems
Turn Radius

You may get a single problem to deal with or a combination. Depends on the year and boat. Make the test dive-

Does the sabotage and malfunction mod have to be turned ON if you are running 2.6? I was thinking about installing it tonight, but I don't want to install the sabotage and malfunction mod. Can it be disabled?
