Was SHIII really this challenging???

My first career in months. First mission. I was sunk in the English Channel in 1939!

Hey, don't laugh at me! I survived 2 hours of depth charging in 24 m deep waters! But I'm angry at myself for not attacking that Elco but diving, he called 5 destroyers and one armed trawler in to help!

I allways attack Elco boats with everything at hand. Fortunately..they don't use their torpedoes.

Finally a good SH3 bug! We'd be helpless if they would! Anyone know what the real U-boat Kaleuns did when encountering Elco's?:hmm:

Brewster Pilot, you wrecked U-53? That was *my* boat!

Just kidding, I got sunk in U-53 loads of times as well... Maybe it's just the boat, huh?

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub, now in U-2503

hey brewster, you have been in the same ****whole as me
my VIIB U-505 got nailed in the english channel too in 1939 , I shot at an Merchant and an Elco spotted me and made an distress call and 5 Destroyers and an Armed trawler came to DC me to 7th gate of hell.... and ofcourse the depth of 36 meters...got my bow torpedo making water that made me scratch the ocean floor for 100 meter before I got my final blow.

English channel...the channel to hell, thats what I call it

In 1939 and early 40, I run the smallest part of the channel at night at flank speed. If an Elco boat pops up, I take it out with the deck gun. Three or four HE rounds on target and the boat usually blows up. That keeps him from updating your position so you are somewhere else when help arrives cause you are running at flank and on the surface. I stay up unless something bigger than a flower shows up Unless she is blocking my path. I stay closer to the French side of the channel to give myself a little more space between me and the English ports.

As for all thoes ships showing up, I am thinking you got hit on by some of the narrow english channel military traffic combined with one of the port patrols.

There's another game mistake that drives me crazy: The British didn't use 80-foot Elco (Electric Boat Company) boats at all; the had their own 73-foot Vospers that looked a LOT different.

As to your question, U-boats stayed away from the Channel, and thus ignored PT Boats.

I usualy just avoid the channel, preferring the path to the north of england, sometimes i'l hit a hard 'mount of planes but it gives good shooting practice to meh flak gunner providing the weathers good , and the elcos are fun to shoot at with the flak gun also.... even though I lost a couple flak gunners to machine gun fire...

p.s. anyone notice that elcos retreat if you damage them enough? I duked it out with one and after a few shots from my deck gun and flak gun he ran off on me

P.s.s. This happened to me again I put a torp into a Tribal destroyer he turned tail and ran on me, wimpy battleships :hmm:

LOL. Charging into the English channel with a II boat would be like attacking the Atlantic wall defenses in a dinghy in 1944. You don't have to try to sink the entire English naval armada in the first week of the war you know.

While the German navy needs gallant warriors maybe wait until you have at least one patrol under your belt and maybe a bigger boat before you set your eyes on the King George.

Flight sims guys....

Default Try Again Later

Afte sacrificing your crews in terrifying deaths so you can gain experience, go back and try again later on but before American entry.

You will be a Type II holy terror sinking snotty over confident destroyers anywhere within the English Channel.

Really, trust me on this, just asked my past crews.
