Hello out there, new to this forum

Hopeing some of you avid SH3 sub simmers might share what really makes this game tick in the zone of comp hardware

read up alot of posts about performance and budget etc but would be keen on a heads up on what really gets this sim humming

I build my own comp rigs and its time for an upgrade

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated to aviod lagging and poor fps which seem to be a problem with the mega mods

Its all about how much u can afford.

But whitout going into some harware spec i would recomend to get a real good motherboard that is built for the future.

Then PCIE graphic card. enough is one whit 256 meg ram coz diff to 512 is just about 7% performance.

later on u can buy a sec graphic card to SLI connect them, But right now there is only few games that support SLI card.

Get a dual core processor.

Loads of memory, dual channel (support by motherboard)

If u can afford then buy a raptor HD. fastest hd there is on the market that runs in SATA.

Good soundcard coz thos inbuilt in motherboard is not that good.

The CPU u listed is good enough and will last long for you.
Remember thou that it is an 64 bit processor so u must get a motherboard that support that also.

When it comes to soundcard its ok to have an old blaster card as long u dont use the inbuilt soundcard on the motherboard (be sure to disable it from the BIOS)

But a good sound is essential in my experince. 5:1 or 7:1 surround system is a blast when u play games.

Only concern i have is the graphic card. Ive been using ATI card before and changed to a Nvidia card. And i must say u can do a lot more changes and tweaking whit a Nvidia card and also there is better support whit different drivers for thos cards.

U listed some values (500-800) And i assume that is the clockspeed for the GPU and memoryspeed
In my opinion that is a bit low and there is better graphic card on the market that offer much higher speed. My card has as an example about 600-1350 Mhz.

The latest card offer speed of 675-1660 Mhz.

I have a Leadtek Winfast PX7800 TDH GTX Extreme 256 meg my self and its a real good card that iam happy whit.

The point also when u build a new comp is to get rid of bottlenecks. And one bottleneck is if u plan to keep and run an old IDE HD. There is decent HD on the market for a good price that runs in SATA mode. (300mb/s transfer rate) .

U can even buy 2 of them and connect them in SATA RAID mode.

Thos Raptor ive meant is incredible fast but expensive HD. The one iam using have only 74gig of space but it have 10000rpm and runs in SATA and its a real quik one.

There is a new raptor on the market now also that have about 150 gig but like i said, they are expensive.

Also to note if u buy an AMD dual core processor is to dl correct drivers to them.

I was suprised my self when i found out that i needed seperate drivers for my CPU.

Good luck mate what ever choose u do but iam sure u will get a good comp that will last for some years and also are suitable to run the latest games whitout any problem.

PS: Forgot to meantion that if u get a PCIE graphic card and dual core CPU etc u need at least a powersupply of 600W ( Minimum will be around 450-500W) But if u plan to buy a second graphic card later on u allready have the power to support it so u dont need to change powersupply.

Amen! A decent soundcard and speaker setup is a whole new dimension to the game. Get a good 5.1 and good Sub-woofer so your whole house shakes when that T3 explodes....

On the other hand, it can do serious damage to your health/pants when you get that sudden, unexpected, DC go off right next to you....

yep sounds like where on the same wave lenght my current harddrive should be ok gettin on but was quick in its day...soundcards mmm wondered bout that ill see how me old soundblaster runs has been excellent but s/cards r not a prob for me to source...motherboards got a lucky break can source whatever at one price so will max out on that...

SATA sounds interesting...

Yep just have on the AMD 4x4. Vikingers links to the raptor HD is interesting as well
