Just completed my first mission as a type II from Wil.

Patrol to AN56, 8 days total, heavy seas for most part, with rain and thick fog. Couldn't see 500m ahead, but I managed to get 2 boats just by using hydrophones. It's a meager 2.7k, but it was well earned!

Quite an addictive game! Playing vanilla at 54% realism.

I keep reading Grey wolves mod is a must. Why? The game seems realistic enough, what more does this add?

And how do you take screenshots?

Take your time to read through Grey Wolves and the NYGM mod. They add alot of things that is missing in the vanilla. The guys know theri job...adn the whole Sub-theme!

They are in Program Files / ubisoft / SHIII

Have you downloaded the 1.4 patch from ubisoft yet? I'd do that first.

Some folks like the bigger mods.... some folks don't .... I have tried a couple of the bigger ones but always go back to making the game as I like it with just a few of littler ones such as :

SHIII Internal Life Mod ( has sounds such paper rattling , an crew member whispering every so often , hatches opening and closing , diving , pencil scribbling on paper - basically makes you feel you have a live crew with you )

Avg.Joes Torpedo+ Deckgun Speed-of-Sound Explosions Delay ( makes the explosions and hits more real sounding )

Harbour_Traffic ( a must have for me .... puts ships at your ports and others ... gives you the feel you aren't fighting the war by yourself .. They also help shoot at aircraft when your base gets attacked or at sea )

Plus a few other small files such as better diesel engine sound , searchlights for merchants ....... everyone has their own preference of course.....
