Hi,
4 out of 4 times I've attempted to sink a very small vessel (i.e. Flower Corvette or small merchant) the torpedo hits, but absolutely nothing happens! About 30 seconds later I hear the thud from the torpedo (or at least what I think is the thud, based on speed of sound), but no explosion! WTF?! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Corvette was at 300m. I tried to sink the small merchant from 500m, but nothing! I even set the torpedo to slow in case it was a time delay vs. distance, but still nothing. I ended surfacing all times to use the deck gun instead (getting shot at whilst I was at it). I setr the torpedo to 0m depth. Is this a bug??? The times it does detonate, it is set to say 4m depth. The seas were calm with respect to the Flower Corvette. I'm running Improved U-Boat V1.03, and Real U-Boat 1.45 mods on V1.4b install of SH3. Any ideas???? --TangoShadow |

Offhand id say the angle your shooting at is too great.
If your using impact pistols, the angle at which the torpedo hits the hull cannot be too great. The impact pistol relies on a solid hit, not one that deflects off of the torpedo's frontal cone. Also a impact hit will deflect off a ship if it hits the bottom most portion of the hull where the side curves around to form the keel. Ships this can be problematic on are shallow draft ships like a liberty. In rough sea's id set your depth to 1, or 2 meters, or even 0. |

AOB should be between 60-120 degrees with 90 being ideal. Arming distance is 300M, and you will have the random dud torpedo.

D's right. Use F12 to check your angle of impact. Another thing that occurs to me - if you are using T1's set at fast speed, they need more than the minimum 300m arming distance(i think). If i need to shoot a fast T1 I pick a target that's at least 500m away, 600 with comfort.

Anyway, when attacking in daylight with Fast T1's, I attack from around 350 m (if I can get away with it), so the victim won't have time to turn even if he sees the bubbles - I have no problem with arming. BRGDS Sven |

T1's will arm in 300M when set to fast speed. Keep in mind that they have to run the full 300M so if you shoot at a ship that is closing on you at 300M, the torpedo will not have traveled the full 300M when it reachs the ship.

Later in the war, when you get the Type 3's, you can shoot from under 300m. 250m was the closest I ever scored a hit from.
